SANTA Claus, a character based on fourth-century bishop Nicholas – a patron saint of the Dutch Amsterdam, named by Dutch merchants and sailors. Saint Nicholas/Sint Nikolaas; Sinterklaus were names given by the Dutch.
The following documents Santa Claus, a fictional character, promoted by American deviants and businessmen over time with background and noted:
1812 A HISTORY OF NEW YORK…by Diedrich Knickerbocker (1812) by Washington Irving was published. Santa Claus was mentioned.
Background: John Jacob Astor, who mistreated Indians, had paid Washington Irving to write favorably about him.
John Jacob Astor (1763-1848) was an American capitalist whose business was Fur. (Note: Notice how Santa Claus outfit is made of Fur.)
1837 “An Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas” also known as “Twas the Night before Christmas” book by Clement Moore was printed and promoted.
Background: Clement Moore wrote material attacking Thomas Jefferson for his undermining the Christian faith.
Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) was the Third (3rd ) President of the United States, Statesman, Diplomat, Architect and author of a bible which included “only divine love, mercy and goodness.”
Thomas Jefferson owned 400 slaves. His twice married wife Martha (Walses Skelton) added another 135 slaves and lands amounting to 40,000 acres. In the draft of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson struck out the paragraph denouncing slavery. He was a practicing attorney who abolished the slave trade from Africa; HATED HEREDITARY PRIVILEGE (S). He cast aside the kingly ceremonies and adopted the rule “first come, first served.” He doctored his slaves; was a scientist of sorts calculating an eclipse; letter copying press, revolving and folding chair; hemp; pedometer; gold medal winning plow; a two-wheeled vehicle inventor. He knew seven languages: English; Greek; Latin; French; Italian; Spanish and German. He was a writer and compiled a bible.
He borrowed $20,000 to repay a debt made while being the President for fear of being jailed. His treasured library was sold to Congress to maintain his home for himself, his grandchildren, grandnieces, and grandnephews. The Presidential income was $25,000 per annum. He was the author of the Declaration of Independence and founder of the University of Washington.
? U. S. Military Academy at West Point teacher painted a jovial, white male, a Santa Claus entering a Chimney top.
Background: The West Point teacher/artist represented the military establishment.
Note: The military is always in the background and supports American businessmen and their activities.
It is interesting to note that the white male character denotes someone superior over others of color. The dominant character is one who “takes care” of “children”, the “needy”, the grantor of gifts to those who are “good” and nothing to those who are “bad”.
1870 Santa Claus appeared on Christmas cards.
Background: “Jolly” Saint Nick/Santa Claus reflects a character that is content with the existing social order. American businessmen promoted Santa Claus.
Santa Claus became promoted especially so by the Macy Company, a merchandising firm:
1873 Macy Stores owner, Roland H. Macy had rented an area within Macy’s to Lazarus Straus and sons: Isador; Nathan, and Oscar. Their items were valued and made Macy’s a popular store.
1877 Roland H. Macy died leaving a son with drinking problems. According to his will, Stocks were to be sold to relatives and to set up a small trust for his son named Rowland H. Macy, Jr. who had drinking problems.
1878 Rowland H. Macy, Jr. died.
1878 George W. Macy of Honolulu, one of the investors in the Macy Company was the “purported Father of George W. Macy, Jr. whose claimed mother was Piena/Piiana according to First Circuit Court Case No. 798, Archives, Honolulu, Hawaii.
Piena/Piiana had died and the guardians assigned to George W. Macy, Jr. were his grandparent’s Kahiamoe (k) and Kaili/Kekai/Kekainui/Kamalii/Kamaliiwahine (w).

Kaili was a Kamehameha descendant through Kaoleioku (k) married to Keoua who had Hanuna (k), Pauahi and stepsibling’s Keola (k) and Konia(w). Hanuna (k) had four (4) children: Kapule (k); Kini(w); Hookahe(w); and Poohina (w). Kapule (k) had (4+) children: Kamaliiwahine/Kaili (w); Kaakau (w); Kamai (k); and Nainoaalua (k). Kamaliiwahine/Kaili daughter was named Piena/Piiana had siblings: Ahukinialaa (w); Kamauoha (k); Wahineaea (w); Luakini/ Kaluakini (k) who was A hanai/adoptive father of Kapiolani/Queen Kapiolani. Luakini/Kaluakini (k) had Other siblings/stepsiblings and direct descendants including my own grandmother Named Elikapeka Kaimiola Kaluakini Gora. Queen Kapiolani’s claimed hanai/ Adopted son was Kuhio Kalanianaole/Prince Kuhio. Prince Kuhio had represented Hawaii after the wrongful dethronement of Queen Liliuokalani and had introduced the Hawaiian Homestead Act (1920), which was based on the Crown Lands, the claimed ceded lands that still has owners, because Kamehameha’s bloodlines, descendants still exist. Prince Kuhio’s brother David Kawananakoa had married Abigail Campbell, daughter of James Campbell and Abigail Maipinepine Kalaikini/Kaleikini.

1884 – Bernice Pauahi Bishop died. Her husband Charles Reed Bishop PIRATE OF THE PACIFIC was an American SPY, banker, a Mason/Freemason, plantation owner, Pacific Cable Company investor, etc.
Untrue that it was, Bishop and others claimed Bernice Pauahi to be the last of the Kamehameha’s, the Sovereign of the Hawaiian Islands, the Hawaiian Archipelago.
The problematic issues evolve around Charles Reed Bishop and the trustees of the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estates.
Charles Reed Bishop, a Morgan banker, assumed lands and monies which he had only a life interest in. He transferred his life interest to the Bernice Pauahi Bishop trustees.
The heir on record was Kalola a cousin of Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Other heirs were also listed on the Will, and the trustees failed to pay according to the Will.
Charles Reed Bishop and trustees helped to plan and dethrone Queen Liliuokalani in 1893. They were conspirators, treasonous persons due to their actions from 1884 and on.
Specifically, Charles Reed Bishop and Friends/trustees etc. did tap into every one of the Alii Trusts using Bernice Pauahi Bishop and all of her relatives. Let us briefly look at some of the trusts:

She did document that she was unable to send out dispatches, which means she was unable to receive dispatches as well. 1917 Queen Liliuokalani died. A claimed Trust was set up with documented OPPOSITIONS. See the Probate/Will of Queen Liliuokalani. She denied signing a Trust with the whites, the treasonous persons, conspirators. The Bank of Hawaii became Trustees in part along with The other Conspirators/TERRORISTS/Provisional Government supporters Backed by the United States government. Congress over time called Queen Liliuokalani “NIGGER”.
Note: Current U.S. President Obama is part of the Bank of Hawaii investors due to his ancestor Joseph Booth. His grandmother, deceased, was a CEO of the Bank of Hawaii. They are not descendants of the Hawaiian Royal families, but descendants of the English lot, a part of England who supported the U.S. move against a friendly, neutral nation, a partner in crime with the U.S., the Morgan bankers, and the International bankers (Bank of England, etc.)
1920 The Crown Lands/claimed ceded lands by Conspirators/TERRORISTS/ Provisional government supporters was placed in a Trust under the Hawaiian Homelands concept. The Bill was claimed to have been introduced by Prince Kuhio/Kuhio Kalanianaole, another “NIGGER” who was also a Mason/ A Freemason like his brother David Kawananakoa. Both Kuhio and Kawananakoa were NOT Kamehameha’s descendants, their relationship to Queen Liliuokalani was through her sister -in-law Queen Kapiolani.
A criminal set up is documented. Prince Kuhio took an out of court settlement to the claims of Queen Liliuokalani and he received her Waikiki residence, etc. (included his agreement that he would not take the throne.)
Prince Kuhio and the administrator Colburn overseeing Queen Liliuokalani’s probate failed to make corrections, and did a mutual agreement, which basically let the criminals continue overseeing her trust.
There are questionnable transactions since 1893.
*note: Queen Liliuokalani’s Trust was created in 1872. She did document that her hanai daughter’s descendants/bloodline would be her permanent trustees. Her hanai daughter’s ADOPTED daughter/ NOT Bloodline transferred an interest in exchange for the Prince Kuhio interest into the Queen’s trust.
Some of the people of the NON-BLOODLINE includes the Simeona, Kinney families. The Simeona’s cousins include Senator Daniel AKAKA who is promoting the AKAKA Bill, with the intent of transferring all lands to the U.S. government, destroying all the books, etc.
The AKAKA’s descendants are also part of the Queen’s Hospital.
Although the claim of Kuhio and Kawananakoa maintains descendancy from Kaumualii, there are many other descendants who have documentation as Descending from Kaumualii. Kaumualii had other children who were older than their ancestor. Questionable issues of non-bloods/non-Hawaiian/kanaka maoli remain for the Kawananakoa families. Also due to their conspiracy, treasonous activities, befriending a belligerent, treaty breaking nation the U.S., England, association/affiliations with conspirators/treasonous persons including the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estates Trustees, their transactions are and remain null and void.
1926 George Macy, Jr., a young unmarried police officer died in a motorcycle accident. He was born in 1901. Unresolved issues in genealogies remain for Macy, Jr. was Macy, Jr. was claimed to be the purported son of Piena/Piiana with George Macy.
His father was named George Macy, but no junior on the end, which indicates There are questionable issues and Funny business in the claims of Macy and ties to the Kamehameha families.
George Macy was the first Internal Revenue director in Hawaii. He collected Taxes for the Federal government who remain de facto (not legal) government In Hawaii.
It may be said that everyone in Hawaii has and is wrongfully paying taxes to the governments based on de facto existence and occupational status.
Macy, Jr. and parents are buried at the Kawaiahao Church Cemetery close to King William Lunalilo’s tomb. (Note: Mr. Young, employee at the Kawaiahao Church pointed out the Macy’s families graves one sunny afternoon –year 2001 with a brief historical background to being the store owners – MACY’S.)
Suspicions of the Macy’s not being part of our Kamehameha families/direct descendancy bloodlines remain.
Unless the Macy family’s remains are uncovered and DNA tested for kanaka Maoli blood/Kamehameha descendancy, it appears that the Macy’s claims may be another conspiracy issue entered by the Conspirators/TERRORISTS/Provisional government supporters who have MUCKED UP some of our records and have wrongfully and criminally assumed/ helped themselves to lands, monies, etc. that they have no right to. The Macy family claims are documented in Probate. Piena/Piiana/Malia Piiana was married to others.
1995 Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estates/Kamehameha Schools aka’s Trustees invested in Goldman and Sach’s stocks.
Note: The Bishop Estates claims are based on a Trust created in the de jure Kingdom of Hawaii period with unresolved issues due to the intense amount of FRAUD entries on Probates affecting all lands in Hawaii, etc.
The ongoing Conspirators/TERRORISTS/Provisional government and the evolved governments de facto supporters along with the United States government TAX the Estate as well.

MACY’S is now known for its’ marvelous balloon parades given each Thanksgiving advertising Christmas, a white Santa Claus, merriment – thoughts of gifts, candies, goodies, snow, Christmas trees, decorations, holiday cards, cheer, baking, cooking, gatherings, fragrances, mood music – blanketing the crowds filled with young and old —-innocent victims of deceit.
2003 – PIRATES OF THE PACIFIC: CHARLES REED BISHOP AND FRIENDS by Amelia Gora was written with the intent of documenting criminals found in Queen Liliuokalani’s writings, etc.
2010 – All of the Trustees are documented as genocide activists, taking claims to lands of our Royal families without right, jurisdiction, and continuing the piracy(ies), conspiracy(ies), treasonous activities against our Royal families. Ramifications are ongoing, especially since the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estates Trustees, also operating the Kamehameha Schools – Bernice Pauahi Bishop Estates did defraud our ancestors, and our families who are the real owners. It was they too, who did criminally transfer private properties to the U.S. in the Hawaiian archipelago without right, legally.
The properties include Pearl Harbor, the Crown Lands, Alii lands criminally conveyed when descendants of the Royals – Kamehameha descendants, Kamehameha II’s wives descendants, Kamehameha III – descendants and hanai/adopted children’s descendants, Kamehameha IV’s and Queen Emma’s heirs, Kamehameha V’s heirs, King Lunalilo (and Charles Kanaina-his father) heirs, King Kalakaua’s (and Queen Kapiolani’s) descendants/heirs; and Queen Liliuokalani’s descendants/heirs exist today.
The criminal claims perpetuated in the Hawaiian Islands today affect all in the World today.
Commentary
Although the Santa Claus myth which has grown in the United States promoting contentment with social order, the realities are that the economic rewards are taken by the shrewd, the exploiters, the ruthless, and those who are TERRORISTS.
The fictitious character Santa Claus descends from demonic beings of chaos with its beginnings in Europe. “The Lord of Misrule, the Boy Bishop, and the Saint Nicholas who consigns bad children to a devilish companion” in Europe becomes everything opposite in the United States and Hawaii by TERRORIST businessmen at the expense of Kamehameha’s descendants, heirs and countless others.
The fictitious creation Santa Claus actually exploits the populations into deceit, cunning behaviors, and lying to children. The phenomena/socializing/programming phenomena given to the children are an incredible diversion of the truth, which aids in accommodating businessmen everywhere. The perpetuation of a white jolly faced male (red faced man who expected home-baked cookies and an ice cold glass of milk—in all actuality a white with red face means one who had one drink too many), dressed in expensive furs who magically drops into a chimney or a fictitious chimney and leaves an abundant amount of gifts for those who have been good is a downright lie adhered to by the rich and poor.
Why has the Churches failed in correcting the ongoing lies? Perhaps, it is because the Churches gain in wealth, monetary assist from the American businessmen as well who also sell Christian related objects such as the Nativity Scenes, etc. All Christmas time sales encourage the spirit of giving which also benefits the church at Christmas time as well.
The mood music developed by American businessmen further encourages a mood to shop, etc. The mechanisms employed through studies, observations by others are maintained in developing/enhancing all buyers.
The merchandise promoted, displayed, advertised by businessmen are planned to be completely sold by Christmas. The marketing, costs is taken up by the businessmen, the financing is made by the bankers, the big businessmen, the TERRORISTS who have defrauded, exploited lands, monies, Trusts, plantations, large businesses to base their Capitalistic Society which benefits a few.
Meanwhile, the Government backs the claims, disregarding the Frauds, Criminal Deceit, Criminal Malfeasance, Criminal Deviance, Genocide issues because more is to be gained and maintained through lands, taxes, monies gotten from the cunning, the deviant, the exploiters, the TERRORISTS, who descend from Missionary stock in part.
The United States, a Complex Slave Society, which had evolved from a downright Slave Society with its’ Presidents being slave owners, continues. The people’s wants for their children moves in alignment with the Capitalistic machinery due to easy/cash purchases from the wealthy (who benefit off of those with less) and credit purchases from the poor/slaves. (The credit purchasers pay nearly double for their merchandise.)

The complex slave Society includes the facts that many are working to pay off credit card bills at tremendous amounts of percentage rates, which makes many slaves. It’s that time of year again and I’ve been so busy making Xboxes and E-readers and blankets with arms in them that I sometimes forget there are others like me doing good works but who are in need of some help.

** The Innocence Project. Hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans sit in prison tonight having been wrongly convicted of a crime. They are 100% innocent and the system has the DNA samples to prove it. The Innocence Project is an amazing group that provides free attorneys and researchers who devote their time to freeing these innocent men and women. It’s no mistake that human rights groups place the U.S. on their list of countries who throw the innocent behind bars. No country on earth (including China, with four times the population of the U.S.) has more people in prison than America. Please give to the Innocence Project so that those who’ve committed no crime do not spend another night in jail — and so I don’t have to spend so much time on Christmas Eve going through security when I make deliveries to them.
** The Bradley Manning Defense Fund. If I witness a crime while making my rounds on Christmas Eve, and I report it, I’m considered a hero. (Sometimes there’s reward money!) Private Bradley Manning of the United States Army allegedly came across video of his fellow soldiers gunning down and killing in cold blood two reporters from Reuters and a group of Iraqis who were civilians. He apparently decided to report this crime to the American people. For this, he has been arrested and thrown into the brig — where he has sat in tortuous solitary confinement for seven months. He is also believed to be the source of thousands of documents obtained by WikiLeaks which show the disgusting and immoral behavior of your government and Pentagon as they’ve prosecuted two illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. ** WikiLeaks. What more needs to be said? Frankly, in retrospect I’m GLAD they leaked my 2009 Naughty & Nice list — especially the parts about the U.S. government. I know that may hurt a bit for those of you who are Americans, but trust me, it’s good for you in the long run. What I do foresee in the coming year, though, is a battle for who controls the internet — and those in power are going to find ways to clamp down and not make it so easy for all of us to share with each other so freely. (Another good group to give to that is helping to keep the internet free is Save the Internet.) From the Iraq War video to the proof that you’re backing a corrupt government in Afghanistan to the fabricated cables sent to the Bush State Department from Havana about Mike’s movie, WikiLeaks has performed an invaluable service. As long as they don’t dig into what my elves do in the 11 months they’re on vacation, I’m solidly behind WikiLeaks.
** The Water Project. Over a billion people on this planet have no access to clean drinking water. Approximately two million children under age five are killed each year worldwide by a water-related disease. This is insane considering we have the technology and the people power to fix this in a very short time period — if we wanted. The money from just one year of the Iraq War would pretty much take care of it. Sad, isn’t it, how we’re capable of so much more, of being so much better. The Water Project is a hands-on, boots on the ground organization that’s digging wells and getting clean drinking water to the Third World. This is one delivery — water for a billion people — that just doesn’t fit in my sleigh.
** Park 51 Islamic Community Center (“The Ground Zero Mosque”). Here’s a tip: if there’s anything that will get you a lump of coal in your stocking, it’s hating people based on their race or religion. And I’m sorry to say, folks like that were out in full force this year. They even won themselves an election. Soon they will hold congressional hearings to out America’s Kenyan-born Muslim president. (My team’s already getting extra coal ready for Christmas 2011.)
Meanwhile in lower Manhattan, a group of people who happen to be Muslim want to build a community center. They asked the Jewish Community Center in Manhattan for help. They helped them. It was so nice it made me think I should branch out into Hanukkah and Ramadan. Then the haters showed up. But I believe Park 51 will win this fight. Please help them.
** Democracy Now. This great daily show presents the news we never get to hear on mainstream radio or TV — especially at the North Pole, where for some reason the cable system only runs the Hallmark channel and Spike. Amy Goodman and Co. do an incredible job bringing the truth to the American public every morning. I listen to them and I support them. (And I support all efforts for non-profit, community-based radio stations. You can learn more about that movement at Radio for All.)

On the third Wednesday of every month, the nine members of an elite Wall Street society gather in Midtown Manhattan. Drawn from giants like JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley, the bankers form a powerful committee that helps oversee trading in derivatives, instruments which, like insurance, are used to hedge risk. In theory, this group exists to safeguard the integrity of the multitrillion-dollar market. In practice, it also defends the dominance of the big banks. The banks in this group … have fought to block other banks from entering the market, and they are also trying to thwart efforts to make full information on prices and fees freely available. Banks’ influence over this market, and over clearinghouses like the one this select group advises, has costly implications for businesses large and small. The size and reach of this market has grown rapidly over the past two decades. Pension funds today use derivatives to hedge investments. States and cities use them to try to hold down borrowing costs. Airlines use them to secure steady fuel prices. Food companies use them to lock in prices of commodities like wheat or beef.

A report to Congress reveals details on how U.S. intelligence officials used and protected some Nazi Gestapo agents after World War II. The report was authored by historians hired by the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration. The report draws from an unprecedented trove of records on clandestine operations that the CIA was persuaded to declassify and from previously inaccessible Army intelligence files. “The CIA records give us a much better picture of the movements of Nazi war criminals in the postwar period. The Army records are voluminous, and will be keeping people busy for many years,” said Richard Breitman, of the American University in Washington, D.C., who co-authored the report with Norman J.W. Goda, of the University of Florida. The records were made available under the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act of 1998. Nazi hunters and lawmakers have long raised questions about what U.S. government knew and its involvement with war criminals during the Cold War. The Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act has so far resulted in more than 8 million documents being declassified; a landmark 2005 book on U.S. Intelligence and the Nazis in part authored by Breitman and Goda; and a final report to Congress.

An Italian appeals court on [December 15] increased the sentences against 23 Americans convicted in the kidnapping of an Egyptian terror suspect who was part of the CIA’s extraordinary renditions program. In upholding the convictions, the court added one year to the eight-year term handed down to former Milan CIA station chief Robert Seldon Lady and two years to the five-year terms given to 22 other Americans convicted along with him, defense lawyers said. They were never in Italian custody and were tried and convicted in absentia but risk arrest if they travel to Europe. The Americans and two Italians were convicted last year of involvement in the kidnapping of … Abu Omar from a Milan street on Feb. 17, 2003 — the first convictions anywhere in the world against people involved in the CIA’s practice of abducting terror suspects and transferring them to third countries where torture was permitted. The cleric was transferred to U.S. military bases in Italy and Germany before being moved to Egypt, where he says he was tortured. He has since been released. Amnesty International praised [the] decision as a step toward demanding greater accountability in Europe for the CIA’s extraordinary rendition program. Julia Hall, an Amnesty counter-terrorism expert, said in a statement, “The Italian courts have acknowledged that the chain of events leading to such serious abuses cannot go unanswered. Kidnapping is a crime, not a ‘state secret.’ “

Sexual assault pervades the military, but the Pentagon refuses to release records that fully document the problem and how it is handled, the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups said in a federal lawsuit that seeks access to the records. Tens of thousands of service members have reported some form of sexual assault, harassment or trauma in the past decade, according to the lawsuit filed [on December 13] in New Haven against the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. “The government’s refusal to even take the first step of providing comprehensive and accurate information about the sexual trauma inflicted upon our women and men in uniform … is all too telling,” said Anuradha Bhagwati, a former Marine captain. The government prosecutes 8 percent of military sex offenders, while 40 percent of civilian sex offenders are prosecuted. The lawsuit contends sexual assaults are nearly twice as common within military ranks as in civilian society, and surveys show that nearly one in three women report being sexually assaulted during their time in the military. About 80 percent of unwanted or threatening sexual acts are not reported, according to the lawsuit. Victims who report abuse to their superiors often face social isolation, retribution and counteraccusations, the lawsuit says.

The Transportation Security Administration has come under fire for new body scanners and what some say are highly invasive pat-downs. Thomas Sawyer, a bladder cancer survivor, said he was humiliated after a pat-down broke his urostomy bag, leaving the 61-year-old covered in his own urine. Sawyer said he warned the TSA officials twice that the pat-down could break the seal. Cathy Bossi, a long-time flight attendant and breast cancer survivor, said the TSA made her take off her prosthetic breast. “She put her full hand on my breast and said, ‘What is this?’ I said ‘It’s a prosthesis because I’ve had a breast cancer,'” Bossi said. “And she said, ‘You’ll need to show me that.'” In recent days, several passengers have come forward to tell such shocking stories about their experiences with TSA officers. An ABC News employee said she was subject to a “demeaning” search at Newark Liberty International Airport Sunday morning. “The woman who checked me reached her hands inside my underwear and felt her way around,” she said. “It was basically worse than going to the gynecologist. It was embarrassing. It was demeaning. It was inappropriate.” The head of the Transportation Security Administration John Pistole … has said the TSA would not change its pat-down procedures.

Newly released U.S. diplomatic cables indicate that the Vatican felt “offended” that Ireland failed to respect Holy See “sovereignty” by asking high-ranking churchmen to answer questions from an Irish commission probing decades of sex abuse of minors by clergy. That the Holy See used its diplomatic-immunity status as a tiny city-state to try to thwart the Irish fact-finding probe has long been known. But the WikiLeaks cables, published by Britain’s The Guardian newspaper … contain delicate, behind-the-scenes diplomatic assessments of the highly charged situation. One leaked document … authored in February 2010 by Rome-based diplomat Julieta Valls Noyes, cited her conversations with Irish Ambassador Noel Fahey and his deputy, Helena Keleher. Ireland wanted to be seen as fully supportive of the independent probe into child-abuse cover-ups … but its Rome officials also didn’t want to intervene in the probe’s efforts to get information from the Vatican. Noyes, citing a conversation with a Holy See official, wrote that the investigators’ letters “offended many in the Vatican” because they were viewed as “an affront to Vatican sovereignty.” “In the end the Irish government decided not to press the Vatican to reply.”

The Air Force is barring its personnel from using work computers to view the Web sites of The New York Times and more than 25 other news organizations and blogs that have posted secret cables obtained by WikiLeaks, Air Force officials said. When Air Force personnel on the service’s computer network try to view the Web sites of The Times, the British newspaper The Guardian, the German magazine Der Spiegel, the Spanish newspaper El País and the French newspaper Le Monde, as well as other sites that posted full confidential cables, the screen says “Access Denied: Internet usage is logged and monitored,” according to an Air Force official whose access was blocked and who shared the screen warning with The Times. Violators are warned that they face punishment if they try to view classified material from unauthorized Web sites. Some Air Force officials acknowledged that the steps taken might be in vain since many military personnel could gain access to the documents from home computers, despite admonishments from superiors not to read the cables without proper clearances.

Stricken Allied Irish Banks is preparing to hand out €40m (£34m) of bonuses next week – despite being on the brink of receiving another emergency bailout from the Irish government. As many as 2,400 bankers in its Dublin capital markets division are to receive the payments on 17 December under agreements struck with the bank in 2008. The bank, 19% owned by Ireland’s taxpayers but expected to reach 95% state-ownership, had originally been blocked from making the payments under one of the government’s bailout programmes. But legal action by a trader, John Foy, over a deferred €161,000 bonus awarded in 2008 has led the bank to conclude it will need to pay bonuses to many of the staff to whom they were awarded for that year. The bonuses are being handed out at a time when the government is instigating four years of tax rises and brutal cuts to benefits. Bankers are receiving much of the blame for forcing Ireland to take international assistance and implement the austerity budgetary measures.

An independent examiner has just recommended stricter ethics rules for managers of the $218.8 billion California Public Employees’ Retirement System. According to a suit filed by state Attorney General Jerry Brown, back in 2007, CalPERS board member-turned-investment broker Alfred Villalobos took one of the pension fund’s senior investment officers on a private jet ride to New York to attend a Museum of Modern Art fundraiser honoring a client Villalobos was representing. The client, Leon Black, heads the private-equity firm Apollo Global Management, which was seeking a $700 million investment from CalPERS. According to the suit, Villalobos and the investment officer, Leon Shahinian, shared a $1,000-a-night-plus suite at the five-star Mandarin Oriental Hotel. The suit claims Villalobos’ firm billed the trip to Apollo. Sometime after, the suit claims, Shahinian touted the $700 million investment to the CalPERS board with nary a mention of the New York trip – and the deal was approved. Shahinian was not named as a defendant in Brown’s suit, which is seeking $95 million in penalties against Villalobos and CalPERS’ former chief executive, Fred Buenrostro – both of whom have denied any wrongdoing. As for Shahinian, who also maintains he did nothing wrong, he was placed on paid administrative leave over the incident and four months later resigned from CalPERS, where he was earning about $350,000 a year.

The world’s biggest pharmaceutical company hired investigators to unearth evidence of corruption against the Nigerian attorney general in order to persuade him to drop legal action over a controversial drug trial involving children with meningitis, according to a leaked US embassy cable. Pfizer was sued by the Nigerian state and federal authorities, who claimed that children were harmed by a new antibiotic, Trovan, during the trial, which took place in the middle of a meningitis epidemic of unprecedented scale in Kano in the north of Nigeria in 1996. But the cable suggests that the US drug giant did not want to pay out to settle the two cases – one civil and one criminal – brought by the Nigerian federal government. The cable reports a meeting between Pfizer’s country manager, Enrico Liggeri, and US officials at the Abuja embassy on 9 April 2009. It states: “According to Liggeri, Pfizer had hired investigators to uncover corruption links to federal attorney general Michael Aondoakaa to expose him and put pressure on him to drop the federal cases. He said Pfizer’s investigators were passing this information to local media.” The cable … continues: “A series of damaging articles detailing Aondoakaa’s ‘alleged’ corruption ties were published in February and March. Liggeri contended that Pfizer had much more damaging information on Aondoakaa and that Aondoakaa’s cronies were pressuring him to drop the suit for fear of further negative articles.”

A federal court yesterday struck down an Ohio ban on dairy products whose labels say they’re made from milk that’s free of hormones that increase cows’ milk production. That means companies that want to say their products are “rbGH free” and “rbST free” and “artificial hormone free” are now free to do so. The ruling challenges the FDA’s 17-year-old finding that there’s “no significant difference” between the milk of cows given growth hormone and those that aren’t. Just that sort of distinction … is part of the ongoing debate about how to label genetically engineered salmon. The Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit said there is a “compositional difference” between milk from cows given growth hormones and those without. The court gave three reasons they’re different: * Increased levels of the hormone IGF-1; * A period of milk with lower nutritional quality during each lactation; and * Increased somatic cell counts (i.e. more pus in the milk). But the FDA concluded in 1993 when it approved the growth hormone that the milk shows “no significant difference” in milk from untreated cows.

For some Americans, milk has become a test of their freedom. And they’re not paranoid kooks either; the government really is out to get them, authorizing seizures of bottles and jugs of unpasteurized milk and, in one recent case, a full-on, agents-brandishing-guns raid. Currently, under federal law, it’s illegal to sell consumers unpasteurized milk that has been transported across state lines. Raw milk cannot be sold at all in 10 states. In 30 states, it can be sold only by certain farms under certain conditions. And in the remaining states, retail sales are allowed but are greatly hindered by technicalities. An underground railroad has emerged to get milk from cows to consumers without any high-tech processing in between. Now comes the proposed Food Safety Modernization Act, federal legislation that would improve the FDA’s ability to trace [illness] outbreaks and give the agency — which can already fine companies that knowingly sell contaminated foods — the power to order recalls. Supporters say they know the milk may contain pathogens; the most ardent say they welcome the bugs, many of which have peacefully resided in our guts for thousands of years. All agree that they should be able to drink raw milk if they want to.

A physicians’ group campaigning against McDonald’s fast food offerings says that four Houston TV stations have refused to run its advertisement equating cheeseburgers with heart disease and death. The advertisement from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, titled “Consequences,” displays a doctor and a weeping woman standing over a corpse clutching a cheeseburger in its right hand. The 30-second spot ends with a picture of the McDonald’s logo, the words “I was lovin’ it,” a parody of the company’s “I’m lovin’ it” slogan, and the voiceover, “High cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart attacks. Tonight, make it vegetarian.” Susan Levin, director of nutrition of education for the Washington, D.C., nonprofit, said all four of Houston’s major network affiliates turned down “Consequences,” which she said has aired in Chicago and Washington and was rejected by stations in Miami. The group was prepared to pay $5,000 to air the ad locally. Houston was selected for the campaign, the group said, because of its market size, its reputation as having one of the nation’s highest obesity rates and because it has 149 McDonald’s outlets, more than any city in the nation other than New York. The “Consequences” spot has been viewed more than 1.1 million times on the group’s YouTube site.

The tiny Vatican City is now by far the world’s most environmentally friendly state following the installation of giant solar power panels, the Vatican’s official daily said. “The Vatican has reached a small record in solar energy power production per capita: 200 watts at peak times … per inhabitant, compared to 80 in Germany, the world leader in this field,” Osservatore Romano said. The Vatican City is the least populated sovereign state in the world, with a population of only around 800 people. Osservatore Romano said that the panels installed on the Paul VI conference hall two years ago had saved the Vatican 89.84 tons of oil equivalent. Pope Benedict XVI has been dubbed the “green pope” by the Italian media for his strong emphasis on defence of the environment. Earlier this month Vatican officials said they were thinking of using an electric-powered vehicle to replace the iconic popemobile.

Stephen Dean of CNN affiliate KPRC has got an exclusive look. STEPHEN DEAN, KPRC CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): HPD [Houston Police Dept.], the federal Department of Homeland Security and other invited guests all watching to see how this drone could be used for police work in and around Houston. We tracked that drone from News Chopper 2. And that drone was able to use a high-powered camera to track us. Those cameras can actually look into people’s homes or even follow them in moving cars — which raises all sorts of new questions. HPD quickly hustled together a news conference when it realized our cameras were there for the entire secret test. Executive Assistant Chief Martha Mantabo admits that could mean covert police action. But she says it’s too early to tell what else HPD will do with the aircraft. We asked, are these drones headed for ticketing speeders from the sky? MONTALVO: I’m not ruling anything out. DEAN: Back at the secret test site, police helicopter pilots claimed the entire air space was restricted and even threatened our local 2 Investigates pilot with action from the FAA if we didn’t leave. But we checked with FAA several times and there never was a flight restriction. That leaves some to wonder whether the police are now ready to use terrorism fears since 911 to push the envelope further into our private lives.

Friends,
Twice within four days, my name has popped up in the Bush-era secret cables uncovered by WikiLeaks. Lucky me. Though nowhere near as earth-shattering as the uncovering of American misdeeds in Iraq and Afghanistan, these classified cables provide a stunning and bizarre peek into the paranoid minds of the Bush White House when it came to the subject of one Michael Francis Moore.
And considering how WikiLeaks has released only 1,826 cables of its planned drop of 251,287 — and I’ve already played a starring role twice — I can only say I await with bemused anticipation how the moi-storyline will play itself out.
The most recent secret cable revelation is in today’s Guardian newspaper of London. It’s entitled
, “US Intervened in Michael Moore NZ Screening.” Oh yeah, baby! New Zealand! That’s where we’ll stop Moore and his band of evildoers!The date was July 30, 2004. ‘Fahrenheit 9/11’ was already a huge hit in the United States. Just to give you an idea how huge, it had hit #1 at the box office, the only documentary to have ever accomplished this feat, and had made more on its opening weekend than ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.’
But it was no easy path to get there. Disney (which owned Miramax) was apoplectic when they saw the final cut. So they pulled the film from its theatrical schedule. Then they put a permanent block on its release, insuring no one would see it. But then the New York Times, in a front page story, reported that the real reason Disney hated ‘Fahrenheit’ was they were worried about the tax breaks it got in Jeb Bush’s Florida for Disney World. This caused some embarrassment, so Disney then sold ‘Fahrenheit’ to the Weinstein Bros., who said they’d spend their own money to distribute it.
The release of the film caused concern at the White House, as this was the re-election year. They hired a pollster who told them the film might tip the election. That was enough for them to swing into action. Much of July was a nonstop barrage of attacks on me and the movie. But that just resulted in more tickets being sold.
Which brings us to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. There are few nations on earth further away from us. A local chapter of the ruling Labor Party apparently had decided to do a fundraising screening of ‘Fahrenheit 9/11.’ It was to be hosted by the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Secretary for the Environment.
Well, when the U.S. Embassy in Wellington got word of this, it was like all heck broke loose. America was offended! Phone calls were made to the Prime Minister! Then to the Cabinet Secretary! We … are … not … happy!
Apparently, the Kiwis backed down and the Cabinet Secretary withdrew as the host. A sigh of relief whiffed its way through the American embassy. Moore stopped! The cable back to Washington
showed the embassy had no problem taking credit for putting the kabosh on yours truly:”… it is probable that this potential fiasco may only have been averted because of our phone calls — it is apparent to us that neither the Minister nor anyone else in the Labour government seems to have thought there was anything wrong with a senior Minister hosting such an event.”
So here’s my question:
Really?
I mean, seriously — really? This is how the Bush State Department was spending its time — on a single screening of ‘Fahrenheit 9/11′ in freakin’ New Zealand? Or maybe … was this kind of interference happening just to New Zealand? Call me crazy, but I gotta feelin’ it doesn’t stop there. Just as a health insurance executive has now come forward as a whistleblower to reveal the millions spent to smear ‘Sicko,’ I can’t help wait for that day when the whistleblower from the Bush White House comes forward to tell the fascinating tale of how the Bush team believed they had to do something — anything — to stop ‘Fahrenheit.’ Or worse (like the “Plan B” the health insurance companies discussed — to “push Michael Moore off a cliff.”). I didn’t want to think about what the Bush Plan B would be. Just wasn’t worth the crazy-making. So I ignored the things I’d hear, kept my head down and motored on.
But, it does make you wonder. And I ask you, is it fair to pose the question: If they were this focused on some insignificant screening in New Zealand, what else were they up to? And I don’t mean in regards to me. I mean anyone who was on their enemies list …

The police found a few Falun Gong books – that was their so-called “evidence.” I was accused of “resisting the implementation of national laws” and “disturbing social order” and was sent to a labor camp in Beijing.
The only thing that protected me in the forced labor camp was the attention raised by Amnesty International and people like you.
In China, we are not free to believe what we want – unless the government approves. Two of my personal friends were beaten to death in my detention center.
Although officials never showed me your letters when I was in the labor camp, from their attitude to me, I could feel that they got pressure from the outside world. I felt that I was not alone.
If you don’t have the freedom to believe, the freedom of speech, then it’s not a real life.
Amnesty shines a light on forgotten prisoners like me. I am forever grateful for all of the activists who rose up to defend my human rights, and the human rights of the Chinese people.

Today, elephants are being slaughtered in record numbers. And reports say that ivory trade has dramatically escalated since 2005 — this correlation is no coincidence.
It’s shameful that the U.S. would support the slaughter of African elephants and allow an illegal ivory trade to flourish under the radar.

I have a friend who sends a note every year in December, pleading with me to pen one upbeat, hopeful piece before the next year rolls around. Mind you, I consider myself an upbeat guy in a downbeat world and, for me, when it comes to pure upbeatness, you couldn’t have beaten this week if you tried. This was when my Oscar came in — or the equivalent on the political Internet anyway. On December 7th, the State Department announced its brave decision to host UNESCO’s World Press Freedom Day in 2011. (“[W]e are concerned about the determination of some governments to censor and silence individuals, and to restrict the free flow of information…”) Less than two weeks later, I learned that if you try to go to TomDispatch.com from a State Department computer, you can’t get there. The following message appears instead:
“Access Denied for Security Risk (policy_wikileaks)
“Your requested URL has been blocked to prevent classified information from being downloaded to OpenNet.”
OpenNet is what the State Department calls its unclassified Web system. Maybe it should now consider changing that name as it prepares for World Press Freedom Day. (Small tip to State Department officials: remember that TomDispatch is just as good a read at home as at work!) I’m sure this is all part of the Obama administration’s fabulous sunshine policy, that “new standard of openness” the president embraced on his first day in the Oval Office. It’s certainly part of the U.S. government’s ridiculous attempt to bar its officials, contractors, and anyone else it can reach from the once-secret State Department documents that WikiLeaks is slowly releasing and that everyone else on Earth has access to.
As for me in this holiday season, I couldn’t be happier. Among those sites banned by the State Department, I’m sure in good company and, of course, you’re not likely to be banned if no one’s reading you in the first place. And here’s the holiday miracle: somehow TomDispatch made it onto The List without revealing a single secret document or even hosting one at the site, evidently on the basis of having commented in passing on the WikiLeaks affair.
So that’s the news here at TD when it comes to upbeat. As for hope, hey, I’ve learned from the Bush years. As they privatized war, I’ve privatized hope, farming it out to Rebecca Solnit, who from her first appearance at TomDispatch has filled the endowed Hope Chair brilliantly. It’s now nothing short of a tradition at this site that she have the last word of the year.

After the Macondo well exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, it was easy enough (on your choice of screen) to see a flaming oil platform, the very sea itself set afire with huge plumes of black smoke rising, and the dark smear of what would become five million barrels of oil beginning to soak birds and beaches. Infinitely harder to see and less dramatic was the vast counterforce soon at work: the mobilizing of tens of thousands of volunteers, including passionate locals from fishermen in the Louisiana Oystermen’s Association to an outraged tattoo-artist-turned-organizer, from visiting scientists, activist groups, and Catholic Charities reaching out to Vietnamese fishing families to the journalist and oil-policy expert Antonia Juhasz, and Rosina Philippe of the Atakapa-Ishak tribe in Grand Bayou. And don’t forget the ceaseless toil of the Sierra Club’s local environmental justice organizer, the Gulf Coast Restoration Network, the New Orleans-born poet-turned-investigator
Abe Louise Young, and so many more than I can list here.I think of one ornithologist I met
in Grand Bayou who had been dispatched to the Gulf by an organization, but had decided to stay on even if his funding ran out. This mild-mannered man with a giant pair of binoculars seemed to have some form of pneumonia, possibly induced by oil-fume inhalation, but that didn’t stop him. He was among the thousands whose purpose in the Gulf had nothing to do with profit, unless you’re talking about profiting the planet.The force he represented mattered there, as it does everywhere — a force that has become ever more visible to me as I live and journey among those who dedicate themselves to their ideals and act on their solidarities. Only now, though, am I really beginning to understand the full scope of its power.
Long ago, Adam Smith wrote about the “invisible hand” of the free market, a phrase which always brings to my mind horror movies and Gothic novels in which detached and phantasmagorical limbs go about their work crawling and clawing away. The idea was that the economy would somehow self-regulate and so didn’t need to be interfered with further — or so still go the justifications for capitalism, even though it took an enormous armature of government interventions to create the current mix of wealth and poverty in our world. Your tax dollars pay for wars that make the world safe for giant oil corporations, and those corporations hand over huge sums of money to their favorite politicians (and they have so many favorites!) to regulate the political system to continue to protect, reward, and enrich themselves. But you know that story well.

Corporate Whistleblower Protections Included in Food Safety Legislation
Protections Cover Workers in Industries Regulated by FDA; GAP Calls for Similar Rights for Federal Workers to be Passed
(Washington, D.C.) – Today, the Government Accountability Project (GAP) is praising Congress for passing the most comprehensive whistleblower protections for food industry workers in history. A provision in the Food Safety Modernization Act, passed today by the House and expected to be signed by President Obama, provides sweeping protections for corporate employees who report any food violations enforced by the FDA.
“These whistleblower protection provisions are a monumental change in public health protection, and a huge win for food safety,” said GAP Food Integrity Campaign (FIC) Director Amanda Hitt. “Whistleblower rights don’t get any stronger than this. Without a doubt, these protections will allow more workers to come forward before outbreaks, which will save lives and enhance food integrity. Lawmakers who made this happen should be commended for standing up for public health.”
The protections only extend to corporate workers who report violations of FDA regulations — not to violations of USDA regulations, which cover the meat and poultry industries. On this point, GAP Legal Director Tom Devine added: “There is no rational excuse to protect corporate workers challenging violations of FDA food safety laws while allowing them to keep getting fired at will for defending USDA food safety laws.”
Devine also urged Congress to give federal employees — such as FDA and USDA employees — comparable whistleblower rights by passing the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act: “Since 2000, Congress has passed 12 ‘best practice’ whistleblower laws protecting workers at government contractors and various corporate sectors,” said Devine. “If Congress is serious about fighting government fraud, waste and abuse, it will finish a more modest overhaul of federal whistleblowers rights that has languished since 1999. The job won’t be done until we protect those charged with enforcing food safety laws.”
The impetus for Congress to address these protections evolved largely in response to a wave of foodborne illness outbreaks in recent years. FIC hears from countless whistleblowers who desperately want to expose threats to public health, but lack the protections needed to safeguard against retaliation. This bill contains the first corporate whistleblower protections enacted specifically for the food industry, covering any employee, officer, or contractor who refuses to violate the FDA safety regulations, or provides evidence of such violations to proper authorities — including supervisors or members of Congress.
Specifically, the law “establishes whistleblower protections for employees of entities involved in the manufacturing, processing, packing, transporting, distribution, reception, holding, or importation of food who provide information relating to any violation of the FFDCA.” (The FFDCA, or Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, is the 1938 law that gives the FDA most of its food regulatory power).
Situations where corporate workers will now enjoy protections include:
— A line worker who is demoted for refusing to package eggs s/he reasonably believes could be contaminated with salmonella
— A peanut butter plant manager who is fired for providing FDA negative pathogen test results to FDA inspectors
— A trucker who refuses to transport imported goods that don’t meet safety standards
If retaliated against, after exhausting administrative remedies (win or lose), the employee can start fresh and obtain a jury trial in federal district court to obtain reinstatement and any other compensatory damages necessary to be “made whole.” The provisions cannot be canceled by preconditions for employment, such as gag orders or waiver of statutory rights for inferior substitutes such as company-controlled arbitrations.

). Rates of tonsillectomy and grommetoperations have fallen, they say. Two randomised controlledtrials have just been completed. National guidelines exist toprevent inappropriate surgery. But yes, there is still uncertaintyabout the diagnosis of tonsillitis, which relies on clinicalassessment. In his reply Spence concludes, “with respect”—aphrase that former BMJ editor Stephen Lock said usually meantquite the reverse—”that both grommet surgery and tonsillectomyare counterintuitive and unnecessary operations in children”(doi:10.1136/bmj.7302). ), there is clear evidence that the newanalogue insulins are not significantly better for patientsthan the cheaper human ones. And yet analogues now account forabout 80% of insulin prescriptions in the UK, 70% in the UnitedStates, and 60% in Europe. How has this happened? Fierce competitionbetween insulin manufacturers has inspired clever marketingtactics, say Cohen and Carter. Claims of greater weight losson analogues have been questioned by regulators, but equallypersuasive for GPs and patients are the nice new pen devices,specialist diabetic nurses, and training for health professionals,all funded by industry to help patients switch. “No companywill provide nurses to start people on generic isophane insulin,”says Norman Waugh, quoted in the article.NICE has concluded that the incremental cost of analogues ismore than £100 000 per quality adjusted life year, andthat this is not clinically justified. Canadian and German healthtechnology assessors agree. According to figures from the Universityof Cardiff collated for the BMJ and Channel 4 News, if onlyhalf of those using analogues had been put on human insulininstead, the NHS would have saved close to £250m overthe past five years.
Finally, aspirin. At the close of 2010, the Lancet publisheda meta-analysis of individual patient data from randomised controlledtrials (Lancet 2010, doi:10.1016/S0140-6736(10)62110-1
). Itfound a 21% reduction in deaths from cancer in people who tookaspirin for almost six years. The news that aspirin preventedcancer hit the headlines, and no doubt prescriptions of aspirinin healthy people over a certain age are now on their way up.We asked Paul Moayyedi and Janusz Jankowski to look at the newdata. In their editorial (doi:10.1136/bmj.c7326) they concludethat, with a number needed to treat of 200 but a 50% increasedrisk of serious gastrointestinal and extracranial bleeding,it is not clear that the benefits outweigh the risks, even whenfactoring in the cardioprotective effects of aspirin. Help end the inhumane treatment of Bradley Manning!

The Marine Brig at Quantico, Virginia is using “injury prevention” as a vehicle to inflict extreme pre-trial punishment on accused Wikileaks whistleblower Army PFC Bradley Manning (photo right). These “maximum conditions” are not unheard-of during an inmate’s first week at a military confinement facility, but when applied continuously for months and with no end in sight they amount to a form of torture. Bradley, who just turned 23-years-old last week, has been held in solitary confinement since his arrest in late May. We’re now turning to Bradley’s supporters worldwide to directly protest, and help bring a halt to, the extremely punitive conditions of Bradley’s pre-trial detention.
We need your help in pressing the following demands:
End the inhumane, degrading conditions of pre-trial confinement and respect Bradley’s human rights. Specifically, lift the “Prevention of Injury (POI) watch order”. This would allow Bradley meaningful physical exercise, uninterrupted sleep during the night, and a release from isolation. We are not asking for “special treatment”. In fact, we are demanding an immediate end to the special treatment.

of Salon.com giving evidence that Bradley Manning was subject to “detention conditions likely to create long-term psychological injuries”, Bradley’s attorney, David Coombs, published an article at his website on Saturday entitled “A Typical Day for PFC Bradley Manning”. Mr. Coombs details the maximum custody conditions that Bradley is subject to at the Quantico Confinement Facility and highlights an additional set of restrictions imposed upon him under a Prevention of Injury (POI) watch order.
Usually enforced only through a detainee’s first week at a confinement facility, or in cases of violent and/or suicidal inmates, the standing POI order has severely limited Manning’s access to exercise, daylight and human contact for the past five months. The military’s own psychologists assigned to Quantico have recommended that the POI order and the extra restrictions imposed on Bradley be lifted.
Despite not having been convicted of any crime or even yet formally indicted, the confinement regime Bradley lives under includes pronounced social isolation and a complete lack of opportunities for meaningful exercise. Additionally, Bradley’s sleep is regularly interrupted. Coombs writes: “The guards are required to check on Manning every five minutes […] At night, if the guards cannot see PFC Manning clearly, because he has a blanket over his head or is curled up towards the wall, they will wake him in order to ensure he is okay.”
Denver Nicks writes in The Daily Beast that “[Bradley Manning’s] attorney […] says the extended isolation — now more than seven months of solitary confinement — is weighing on his client’s psyche. […] Both Coombs and Manning’s psychologist, Coombs says, are sure Manning is mentally healthy, that there is no evidence he’s a threat to himself, and shouldn’t be held in such severe conditions under the artifice of his own protection.”
In an article to be published at Firedoglake.com later today, David House, a friend of Bradley’s who visits him regularly at Quantico, says that Bradley “has not been outside or into the brig yard for either recreation or exercise in four full weeks. He related that visits to the outdoors have been infrequent and sporadic for the past several months.”
In an average military court martial situation, a defense attorney would be able to bring these issues of pre-trial punishment to the military judge assigned to the case (known as an Article 13 hearing). However, the military is unlikely to assign a judge to Bradley’s case until the pre-trial Article 32 hearing is held (similar to an arraignment in civilian court), and that is not expected until February, March, or later—followed by the actual court martial trial months after that. 1) Cover page (covers ancestors name, RP/Royal Patent Number, LCA/ Land Commission Award number
2) Affidavit/Certification (family genealogies)
3) Heirs and Assigns page
4) EXHIBITS (Write EXHIBITS in top right hand corner):
a. RP/Royal Patent LCA/Land Commission Award brief history (shows names of deceased owners and successors)
b. Survey Notes (obtain from the Archives, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii) which shows the map, dimensions of the land(s). (ask the Archivist how to obtain your survey notes….. also ask how to look at the books available documenting awards from the Great Mahele/ Kamehameha III period, an extra step to take is to find out the testimonies in regards to the parcel(s)/lands belonging to your families.
5) JURAT, NOTARY page
6) Xerox two (2) or more sets. The notary usually wants to do only two (2) for a set. If more copies are needed for family members, you could make copies after the notary signs the documents, and even after the filing is completed.
7) obtain a notary signature from your Credit Union, bank — First Hawaiian Bank has a preferred customer account that you may be able to qualify for……worth it because the cost of a Notary will be nothing/free……….at the Credit Unions and some banks also give free notary signature……cousin paid about $50 a couple of weeks ago —$5 per notary signature.
8) take the two (2) sets of documents to the Bureau of Conveyances, Regular System section and pay $25 for a set which covers up to 20 pages. Any amount of pages over 20 will cost $1 per page.
9) The Bureau of Conveyances located on Punchbowl Street is open in the mornings till 3:30 p.m. They do not accept documents later than that time. (Mondays-Fridays (Holidays closed)).
