This notice is to inform you that on this day, January 5, 2009, you “includes everyone occupying our families properties, also known as the Crown Lands and wrongfully, criminally claimed as the ceded lands and occupying/belligerently occupying our private properties” are hereby given notice that you are hereby banned from authorizing, conveying, acknowledging, allowing the occupying military, et. als. from holding, using, spreading, contaminating our private properties on the Hawaiian archipelago from this day forward.
The Kingdom of Hawaii/Hawaiian Kingdom/Hawaiian Islands/Hawaiian archipelago/He Mokupuni Pae Aina o Hawaii government along with the Royal families remain a neutral, non-violent, friendly nation which did go “underground”. The owners of these lands exist, including I, Amelia Gora, who did oppose DU/depleted uranium in Hawaii along with Jim Albertini, Isaac Harp, Luwella Leonardi, etals. and have spoken with people at the NRC who did approve my electronic file number over the phone……and the number was approved till November of 2010.
The Administrative process continues; however, the owners ban to not allow the use of DU/depleted uranium on our private properties supercedes the requests by a belligerent occupier the right to possess.
As one of the descendants of Kauikeaouli/Kamehameha III’s adopted children, I, Amelia Gora, hereby demand that you cease and desist your activities of harming all on our lands, our citizenry including our families, our kanaka maoli/aboriginal Hawaiians, the U.S. citizens, and our friendly foreign visitors from foreign nations who are all innocents in these matters.
Payments for our families land use has not been received by our proper parties, and the following past notice of Eviction was posted to your President Obama, military, governor who fails to comply.
It is not O.K. to utilize nuclear weapons here and total removal of all nuclear warfare from, in, around our lands is expected.
The decay of the American structure appears to be had by the Nuclear Regulatory group which perseveres to play a role in terminating the lives of innocents/Plundering Upon Innocents and operates under the controls of others.
I ask/suggest/demand that you cease and desist immediately.
If you fail to do so, all nations will see the continued wickedness, the nature of the U.S., a true terrorist nation, etc. I say this due to the fact that I intervened in the Pearl Harbor Condemnation case and witnessed the fact and have the documentations of a FRAUD DEED entered in the claims over the Halawa Ahupuaa which was used in claiming PEARL HARBOR — I have the evidence entered by the attorneys for the Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estates/Kamehameha Schools/Trustees which shows a FRAUD deed of King David Kalakaua deed to two deceased ancestors of ours: Mataio Kekuanaoa who died in 1868, and Grace Kamaikui who died in 1866…..the FRAUD deed was dated 1876 or 8-9 years AFTER they died. In other words, the U.S. criminal claim to PEARL HARBOR was based on a FRAUD, and many INNOCENTS died needlessly including those in the MARSHALL ISLANDS; HIROSHIMA, JAPAN; NAGASAKI, JAPAN; including our Hawaiian Islands due to tests on the island of Kahoolawe; the practice areas in NEVADA, etc.
We have done no wrongs to you, it was the your government that “breached the Laws of Nations” documented our Queen/

Subject: Report on today’s Hilo Vets parade of Strykers, Humvees, etc.
Aloha kakou,
About 40-50 people in total turned out, during the nearly 3 and l/2 hour protest at today’s Hilo Veterans Parade. The protest focus was the U.S. illegal wars of aggression and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan and the military including vehicles from Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) recently returned from Iraq. Among those present were Kanaka Maoli leaders, Kelii, “Skippy” Ioane, a Vietnam vet, Moanikeala Akaka, Moana Tavares, and Noelani Mason, who together with David Schlesinger and others were broadcasting the protest live on Youthbuiltmedia.com. Also joining the protest was 95 year old Don Swergfegger, a retired methodist minister. About l500 leaflets were distributed to people along the parade route and even some parade participants. The leaflet was entitled “Help Protect Veterans & Public Health.” It warned about the dangers of possible DU contamination of the military vehicles in the Hilo parade.
PTA’s commanding officer, Lt. Col. Warline Richardson’s words that there would be no mobile weapon systems on military vehicles in todays’ parade turned out to be false Two command Stryker vehicles at the end of the parade (just in front of the ending firetruck) were preceded by several Humvees armed with machine guns. It’s interesting that the Strykers and Humvees were placed at the end of the parade, even though we stated clearly we had no intent of blocking such vehicles. The military obviously did not believe us. They made sure that if we attempted to block the Strykers it would only block them and not the rest of the parade. It should also be noted that members of a right wing citizen group called “The Eagles” were walking as escorts for the Strykers and there were several Hawaii County police on bicycles also acting as a security escort for the Strykers.
The Strykers and Humvees, recently returned from Iraq, are currently training at the PTA in the center of our island home that is officially acknowledged to be contaminated with DU. Hawaii’s Stryker brigade is training for redeployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan. These vehicles participated in the Hilo parade in violation of Army Regulation 700-48 according to Doug Rokke, PH.D. Major, retired U.S. Army, and Director U.S. Army Depleted Uranium (DU) Project. Rokke says: “Any and all combat vehicles and equipment (everything) returned from Iraq should be prohibited from any civilian area. (including this parade) A standard wash rack is useless for decontamination… Army regulation 700-48, section 2-4 requires isolation from all human contact. Even after extensive depot level cleaning I found DU, and other radiological, chemical and biological contamination in vehicles years later. The gross contamination of equipment, vehicles, terrain, air, water, soil and food is reflected in, and verified by the hundreds of thousands of US casualties with serious medical problems that are unrelated to bullets or bombs, but are directly related to all of these toxic exposures. Hawaii’s isolated and pristine environment should not be exposed to, and consequently placed in danger through, any exposure to any of the contaminants brought back by the US military from war zones.”
All in all, the day of leafleting and protest went very well. There was minimal hostility. The leaflet was crafted to focus on protecting Veterans and Public Health. Who can be against that? We had a very good location for the protest and even many of the vets in the parade gave positive thumbs up signals to many of our signs such as: “No War Surge,” “Protect the Troops from DU,” “Aloha Means Peace,” “Stop the Wars,” and “End Occupations.” Clearly the current wars are not popular even at a veterans parade. And the fact that the Strykers — the modern chariots of empire, had to be placed last in the parade and be under right wing (Eagle) and police escort, was a sign of the military’s unpopular status as occupier of the independent nation of Hawaii

The above contains more information regarding my families genealogies……..I am claiming lineal heirship to the Kawaihae artifacts as well as being part of the Hawaiian Genealogy Society.
Multiples of claims have been submitted in 2008, etc. as well with a copy posted to your office.
Another claimant did claim as an heir and to date has never stated that I’m part of his family. Also, I don’t know how he is directly connected to me or my family as a descendant of Peke Davis
and as a descendant of Abigail Kapooloku/Princess Poomaikelani.
Therefore, the families, the direct descendants of John Young the awardees of the Kawaihae lands includes my personal claims, and some of the families who are part of the Hawaiian Genealogy Society
and whose claims supercedes all of the others, including the recent claimants.

GENEALOGIES OF PEKE DAVIS, A ROYAL PERSON
John Young married Kaonaeha, the daughter of Kamehameha’s brother Keliimaikai who married Kalaniopuu’s daughter.
They had James Kanehoa; John Young Jr.(Keoni Ana); Fanny Kekelaokalani; Grace Kamaikui, and Jane Lahilahi.
John Young and Kaonaeha adopted Isaac Davis and their daughter Kamaikui/Grace Kamaikui’s three (3) children: Hueu Davis, Kale Davis, and Peke Davis.
Kauikeouli/Kamehameha III adopted all of them: James Kanehoa; John Young Jr.(Keoni Ana); Fanny Kekelaokalani; Grace Kamaikui, Jane Lahilahi, Hueu Davis, Kale Davis, and Peke Davis.
Grace Kamaikui married Mataio Kekuanaoa and Dr. T.C B. Rooke who adopted Emma/Queen Emma who married Alexander Liholiho/Kamehameha IV.
Grace Kamaikui died in 1866 and left her lands to Emma/Queen Emma providing that she had descendants otherwise all lands reverted to her family(ies) which included her three (3) children who were also adopted by her father John Young and Kauikeouli/ Kamehameha III. Her children were: Hueu Davis, Kale Davis, and Peke Davis.
Hueu Davis had 17 children.
Kale Davis had 3 daughters: Nakai; Kuamoo; and Waikikilani.
Peke Davis had 4 children and an adopted son: unnamed son (died in infancy); Wahinekipi; George D. Sylva; and Davis Sylva/
Davis Keawe/ DW Keawe/ DW Pauahi aka’s and adopted son Isaia.
Davis Sylva/Davis Keawe/David Keawe/ DW Keawe/; DW Pauahi aka’s married and had Mele Keawe and Davis opio/Davis/David Jr.
Davis opio/Davis/David Jr. married Kapopo and had 2 children: David/David Keawepoo and Mele Keawe.
Davis opio/Davis/David Jr. and Kapopo both were sent to the leper colony in Molokai. Davis opio/Davis/David Jr. married Haili, my father’s (John Kekapu Gora) grandmother there.
Haili was the daughter of Princess Poomaikelani/Kapooloku/Kapapoko/Abigail Kapooloku and married to Joba/Ioba/Kaiokaili, attorneys JW Kauwahi aka’s; JWE Maikai; Kuluwailehua; Kekai, Hiram Kahanawai, etals. Haili was also married to Kaluakini, descendant of Kamehameha and Kanekapolei, descendant of Nuuanu the konohiki of Kapalama, Honolulu, Oahu. Nuuanu’s father was Mahihelelima the brother of Kanekapolei, and was also the kahu/caretaker of Kamehameha’s wives: Kaahumanu, Kaheiheimalie, and Namahana/Piia (another ancestor of mines). Haili and Kaluakini had Elikapeka Kaimiola (and others) who married Joseph Gora and had 7 children: Joseph, William, Walter, John, Rose (Jolly), Lawrence, and Francis. John/ John Kekapu Gora married Mary Castro/Mary Kuulei Castro and had 7 children: Leola, Elizabeth, Amelia, John, Walter, Kathleen, and Marian.
Davis opio/Davis/David Jr. became great great grandfather from two (2) genealogy lines (mother’s and father’s lines).
Mele Keawe became the heir of her brother David/David Keawepoo who married Charles Kauweloa and had 3 children:
Charles Jr., Annie; and Mary Manoalani Kauweloa.
Mary Manoalani Kauweloa married Albert Castro and had 9 children: Harriet, Alberta, Albert, Mary, Rudolph, Irene, and Joseph (2 deceased John and Juanita when children).
Mary Manoalani Kauweloa married Ceferino Maduli and had 6 children: Vale, Ceferino Jr., Lucia, Fermina, Francis, and Kata.
Mary Castro/Mary Kuulei Castro married John Kekapu Gora and had 7 children: Leola, Elizabeth, John, Walter, Kathleen, Marian, and Amelia Kuulei Gora, our Royal Family(ies) Representative and Descendant of Peke Davis daughter of Grace Kamaikui and Isaac Davis, adopted by grandparents John Young and Kaonaeha, and adopted by cousin Kauikeaouli/Kamehameha III.

many years we have been working through the NAGPRA process for five
cultural items identified as originating from a cave in Kawaihae, Hawaii
also know as Forbes Cave. We have sent letters certified, return receipt
to all claimants including your organization in 2005 asking claimants for
additional information, we had no response from your organization.
Subsequently we assumed that you were no longer interested in pursuing your
claim and dropped you from our mailing list. Since 2005

soon be at a point where we will be publishing a Notice of Intent to
Repatriate in the Federal Register. Once this notice is published other
Native Hawaiian Organizations have 30 days to make a claim with our office.

DEPLETED URANIUM PROCEEDING, JANUARY 13, HILO, HAWAIβI
A legal proceeding on an Army application for a depleted uranium (DU) license will be held Wednesday, January 13, from 9 AM to about 3 PM, by videoconference between Hilo, Hawaiβi and Rockville, Maryland.
The proceeding is oral argument on standing and contention admissibility before the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regarding hearing requests by four petitioners: Jim Albertini
of Malu Aina Center for Non-violent Education & Action, Cory Harden, and
Isaac Harp, all from Hawaiβi Island, and Luwella Leonardi of Oβahu.
The Army denied having DU in Hawaiβi until 2006, when citizen groups obtained information from Army e-mails, then announced the Army found DU spotting rounds the previous year at Schofield Barracks on the island of Oβahu. The spotting
rounds were from a classified Davy Crockett weapon system used in the 1960s. The
Army acknowledged the find, and later also found spotting rounds at Pohakuloa
Training Area (PTA) on Hawaiβi Island. The rounds were also distributed to
twelve other states and three foreign countries in the 1960s. There were about
75,000 rounds, each about eight inches long and containing about six and a half
ounces of DU alloy.
βItβs unclear whether the Army didnβt know, or didnβt tell, that it had DU in Hawaiβi,β says Harden. βBut it is clear that information about military hazards in Hawaiβi is unreliable.β
Albertini and Harden say that Army searches, reports, and air monitoring plans for DU at PTA are inadequate, so airborne DU from live-fire and dummy bombs impacting undiscovered spotting rounds may go undetected. The same
concerns have been expressed by a geologist, a consultant to Los Alamos National
Laboratory, and a former Army doctor who is a consultant to the World Health
Organization, all from Hawaiβi.
Albertini and Harden call for a search of classified and unclassified records by all military forces in Hawaiβi for other forgotten radioactive hazards. Harden asks why an Army report cites a 1996 document about a Davy Crockett DU
spotting round at Schofield, when the first find was supposedly in 2005.
Albertini says reports of animal tumors around PTA should be investigated, and says the Army has ignored Hawaiβi County Council resolutions concerning DU.
Albertini and Harp say the Army has not fully disclosed the extent of its DU use in Hawaiβi. Harp says there are high cancer rates around PTA, says the Army has violated Federal law, and calls for removal of DU munitions and waste from
Hawaiβi.
Leonardi says the Army excavated contaminated soil at Schofield, then transported and deposited it near her home, impacting health in her community.
Due to the limited size of the videoconference room at the University of Hawaiβi at Hilo, the public may not attend. However the proceeding will appear via live webcast at
http://www.visualwebcaster.com/event.asp?id=65044. The webstream will be available for
viewing for up to 90 days, and a transcript of the hearing will be posted on the ADAMS system on the NRC website.
A decision on the proceeding is anticipated in February.

Understanding the Hawaiian approach to U.S. Occupation
Often U.S. Americans will contrive arguments, whether real or no, based on their way of thinking rather than understanding the point of view of the native Hawaiian and other Hawaii nationals of the Kingdom of Hawai’i. This leads to misunderstanding between the two factions and Hawaiians are put on the defense more often than not. The U.S. is a racists ethnocentric WASP mainstream society which conducts its Manifest Destiny doctrines; while the Kingdom of Hawai’i is a Polynesian-Hawaiian mainstream open society.
It’s common knowledge that U.S. Americans have very little knowledge of the Kingdom of Hawaii and perceive it under their racist doctrines which they have been raised within their country. Being inbred with this doctrine is how they perceive the world. Saying we hate the haole (foreigner) is a great mistake; especially when one sees that the most ethnically mixed group in the world is the Hawaiian.
The issue is egregiously misplaced whereby many U.S. Americans think it is an ethnic-racist thing when it is far from the truth. This is a national issue due to the unlawful U.S. military occupation with its civlian arm of governance. Many misuse the word to mean white people when in fact we are referring to a foreigner who happens to be illegally occupying our country. According to the laws of occupation, all U.S. Americans in Hawaii are violating those international laws.
In Hawaii, forced assimilation and compliance is taught in its schools. Those that profess to hate haoles grew up not knowing the source of those feelings and many U.S. Americans take it to mean just white people; thus it was assumed it was a racial issue. When one looks at the source, then much of it makes sense.
Many of us do not have ancestors that entered the U.S. from Ellis island to be U.S. Americans and none who were Hawaiian subjects ever naturalized to the U.S. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t those with U.S. parentage who are proud U.S. Americans as they should be; the privilege of dual citizenship is something to be proud of; just as being multi-ethnic. Since Hawaiian Kingdom laws had no restrictions of expatriating, Hawaiian subjects could never lose their citizenship of the Kingdom. Those not of the kanaka maoli blood were required to naturalize under establish conditions cited by its laws. Once the U.S. proclaimed us citizens of their country, there was never any naturalization process to the U.S. The only ones that had difficulty with it were Asians and a few Pacific Islanders who were not kanaka maoli. They were restricted fom entering or re-entering the U.S. military-occupied Kingdom of Hawaii.
Hawaii nationals, including non-kanaka maoli, resented the military presence of the U.S. occupiers. Some U.S. white Americans became persona non grata due to their smug arrogance, racism, and some through scamming the local population. Surely one can see the cultural clash between the two societies and their citizens. Today, many take on the U.S. American attitude and logic; especially with the overwhelming amount of settlers that have reached Hawai’i’s shores and conditioning of enforced assimilation. Many, especially those in the U.S. military take on the nomanclature of the “Ugly American”.
U.S. Americans often become insensitive to the local feelings and express hatred toward others that are not Christians as they perceive it to be; or those that don’t adopt their values; or appear like them in any shape, way, or form. We can see it in the Michael Jackson syndrome. If you don’t conduct yourself as a WASP; then you are looked down on and considered beneath them. The saving grace is that not all U.S. Americans are like that. Nonetheless, their country must de-occupy ours and we should freely be able to express ourselves as subjects/nationals of the Kingdom of Hawai’i.

Right on Tane. This helps to clarify our present day situation and differentiate between nationalism & racism. You are right about us being the most mixed w/ other ethnicities. That can be contributed to being open to others & also for survival. How do we reverse the outcome of forced assimilation ingrained over 4-5 generations? Lots of our people are content to be American.

ALOHA Kaua, e Miliaulani, Many Americans did not support their Independence from England. It is the same with our Hawaiian people today. For those of our people who want to continue being American, that is their right. But that right should not stop us from Going Home To The Hawaiian Kingdom. The Hawaiian Kingdom nation of Queen Liliuokalani and our ancestors. I have many family and friends who I know will never stop being American. I do not let them stop me from being a Hawaiian National of the Hawaiian Kingdom nation of Queen Liliuokalani. The only part of the Hawaiian Kingdom nation of Queen Liliuokalani that was overthrown was the lawful government of the Hawaiian Kingdom. The Hawaiian Kingdom nation was not overthrown. The Hawaiian Kingdom nation continues to remains as a nation. Our people need to look deep within our people on who we are today. We must embrace all members of our people without Blood Quantum. The Blood Quantum is an American concept of what is and who is a native Hawaiian. Within our people are over 50 Blood Lines from people from all over the world. You are 100% correct. Other’s right to choose should NOT affect our own. Like you, I have family who don’t question their loyalty to America. I am the minority; viewed as different & radical. I prefer to think that knowledge & the ability to be a critical thinker opened doors.
Tracing my mookuauhau & knowing my ancestors; knowing they signed the Ku’e petitions & resisted annexation changed my mindset.

It is there in San Francisco that I got to know how lucky we are to be Hawaiian and to have Hawaii as our Homeland. It is my Hope that 2010 will be the year that our people will take a great step and move forward.

I do concur about assimilation. So much have I embraced yet forget where we come from. We must continue to perpetuate and support our langauge and culture; not only the children. The adults must be inclusive to learn the langauge so our culture lives on through our children!

by right, the kanaka maoli/aboriginal Hawaiians, American citizens, and foreign citizens can do a class action suit against the entity state of Hawaii, and the U.S. for their DU/depleted uranium activities in our islands……the military for their chemtrails …..we were at the Bureau of Conveyances, Honolulu, when a number of us noticed the chemtrails in the sky……….that was about a month ago…………
along with the VOG, which comes from the Big Island, the air that we breathe also has polluted, depleted uranium air/winds that sit over the Hawaiian archipelago……….compounded with that and other toxins utilized by the military, the GMO monsters, etc.

Egypt’s Blockade: The Iron Wall

SOMETHING ODD, almost bizarre, is going on in Egypt these days.
About 1400 activists from all over the world gathered there on their way to the Gaza Strip. On the anniversary of the Cast Lead War, they intended to participate in a non-violent demonstration against the ongoing blockade, which makes the life of 1.5 million inhabitants of the Strip intolerable.
At the same time, protest demonstrations were to take place in many countries. In Tel-Aviv, too, a big protest was planned. The monitoring committee of the Arab citizens of Israel was to organize an event on the Gaza border.
When the international activists arrived in Egypt, a surprise awaited them. The Egyptian government forbade their trip to Gaza. Their buses were held up at the outskirts of Cairo and turned back. Individual protesters who succeeded in reaching the Sinai in regular buses were taken off them. The Egyptian security forces conducted a regular hunt for the activists.
The angry activists besieged their embassies in Cairo. On the street in front of the French embassy, a tent camp sprang up which was soon surrounded by the Egyptian police. American protesters gathered in front of their embassy and demanded to see the ambassador. Several protesters who are over 70 years old started a hunger strike. Everywhere, the protesters were held up by Egyptian elite units in full riot gear, while red water cannon trucks were lurking in the background. Protesters who tried to assemble in Cairos central Tahrir (liberation) Square were mishandled.
In the end, after a meeting with the wife of the president, a typical Egyptian solution was found: one hundred activists were allowed to reach Gaza. The rest remained in Cairo, bewildered and frustrated. . . .
In the past, Egypt succeeded in balancing its internal weaknesses with external successes. The whole world considered Egypt as the leader of the Arab world, and treated it accordingly. No more.
Egypt is in a bad situation. Therefore, Mubarak has no choice but to follow the dictates of the US which are, in fact, Israeli dictates. That is the real explanation for his participation in the blockade.

Just two months before the West celebrated the 20th anniversary of the events that would lead to the collapse of communism in Eastern Europe, the Pew Global Attitudes Project, a polling organization funded by a tax-exempt trust established by the founder of the Sun Oil company, conducted a poll that showed that Eastern Europeans are decidedly gloomy about their lives under capitalist democracy.
While Western media and politicians spoke glowingly of Eastern Europeans embracing freedom and regular multi-party elections, Russians, Poles, Bulgarians, Ukrainians and other residents of former communist states complained to the Pew pollsters about being worse off today than under communism, about their dissatisfaction with capitalist democracy, and about the transition from communism to capitalism benefiting business owners and politicians, not ordinary people.
The poll revealed that what Eastern Europeans really think about life under capitalism is a far cry from the picture painted by US and British journalists, who, in their celebration of the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Berlin Wall, mostly presented the events of 1989 to 1991 through the eyes of dissidents and business owners rather than ordinary people. βOur voice, the voice of those whose lives were improved by communism,β remarked Zsuzsanna Clark, who has written a book about her life growing up in communist Hungary, βis seldom heard when it comes to discussions of what life was like behind the Iron Curtain. Instead, the accounts we hear in the West are nearly always from the perspectives of wealthy Γ©migrΓ©s or anti-communist dissidents with an axe to grind.β

When the House health care bill passed last Saturday, it came at a big, big price.
Conservatives forced a dangerous anti-choice amendment to the bill. The “Stupak amendment” makes insurance coverage for abortion virtually unavailable for millions of women purchasing insurance plans through the newly created health insurance exchange, even if they’re using their own money to buy coverage.1
This is a huge shift in U.S. policy. Senator Kristen Gillibrand notes it would “dramatically limit reproductive health care.” Representative Dianne DeGette calls it “the biggest expansion of restrictions on a woman’s right to choose…in my career.”2
Anti-choice forces won in the House through late-night, back-room negotiations. Now we have to fight back and get the truth out there so Congress hears loud and clear that this is simply unacceptableβand that Americans are going to fight hard to keep this provision out of the final health care bill.

The “Stupak amendment” would impact women who purchase insurance in the newly-created health insurance exchange, a marketplace available to the uninsured and self-employed, and to some small businesses. Under House legislation, approximately 30 million Americans would participate in the insurance exchange.3
Here are some points you can include in your letter:
Conservatives shouldn’t be hijacking health care to legislate on reproductive rights. We need to focus on health care, and the millions of Americans who need real reform, and leave abortion where it ought to beβa private decision between a woman and her doctor.
The amendment would be a major shift in U.S. policy. It doesn’t just extend the status quo, which says no federal funds can cover abortion. It would make insurance coverage for abortion virtually unavailable for millions of women in the new health insurance exchange, even if paid for with their own money.4 It’s discriminatory and just plain wrong.
Health care reform will expand access to quality, affordable health care for millions of women. It is absolutely crucial we pass real reform this year. But outlawing coverage for a legal, medical procedure hurts women. And it can’t be in the bill.

Federal agents moved on Nov. 12 to seize four mosques and an Islamic charity, the Alavi Foundation, using phony claims that they were channeling money to fund an Iranian nuclear weapons program.
The charge is preposterous that a few mosques in the U.S. and an office building in New York City, with an annual rental income of just $4.5 million, constitute a financial front for the Islamic Republic of Iran to finance its nuclear industry.
This is despite the fact that even U.S. intelligence agencies admit that there no such nuclear weapons program exists (http://www.newsweek.com/id/215529).
This attack is just the latest in the ongoing assault against Muslim people, used to justify U.S. colonial wars and occupations in the Middle East and Central Asia. I am writing to denounce attempts by the U.S. Government to seize four Muslim houses of worship built with funds from the Alavi Foundation. The claims that this foundation was somehow involved in funding an Iranian nuclear program are as false as previous claims from Washington about alleged weapons of mass destruction in Iran and Iraq.
Attempts to seize the assets of the Alavi Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 charity that works to promote interfaith dialogue and to teach Islamic culture, Persian language and literature, is just the latest act in an ongoing campaign of demonization, disinformation, sanctions, and threats targeting the people of Iran. It is no coincidence that on the same day that the U.S. government unleashed its attacks on the mosques, the White House renewed the long-standing U.S. economic sanctions against Iran, once again using false claims about βweapons of mass destruction.β
This attack is a clear violation of the basic human rights to assemble and worship, just two weeks after FBI agents gunned down Imam Luqman Ameen Abdullah in Detroit. It is part of an escalating number of political attacks, legal frame-ups and media slanders against Muslim people.
I demand an end to the targeting of Muslim people and mosques.

βI currently donβt have a family care plan, but they told me they did not care and for me to get ready to go to Afghanistan,β explained Oakland, California native Spc. Alexis Hutchinson, a 21-year-old soldier based at Hunter Army Airfield outside of Savannah, Georgia.
As I spoke to Alexis on the phone, I believed if I found her a civilian lawyer to work with the military, a reasonable resolution would be quickly found. Unlike most service members Courage to Resist assists, Alexis was not refusing to deploy. She was not looking to speak out against war. She was simply asking for more time to find someone to care for her 11-month old son Kamani. Within a few days, however, the Army had tossed Alexis in the stockade and turned Kamani over to the Chatham County (Georgia) foster care system.
In response to a public outcry, growing media attention, and congressional inquiries, the Army backed off of their pledge to deploy Alexis last night, November 15. Alexisβ lawyer Rai Sue Sussman of San Francisco notes that βThe Army maintains that she may still be sent to Afghanistan for a court martial.β That has left Ms. Sussman contemplating travel to Afghanistan to represent her client.

In August, we launched a campaign to βFree Army conscientious objector Dustin Stevens and the end illegal pre-trial punishment of the Fort Bragg 50!β With your help, we did just that!
Dustin is certain that he would still be facing over a year in the stockade if it were not for your support. It is not everyday that we win an outright victory for GI resisters.
Dustin Stevens was one of about 50 soldiers held at the 82nd Holdover Unit awaiting likely AWOL and desertion charges. They lived in a legal limbo of poor living conditions, verbal abuse, and arbitrary punishments while waiting for up to a year to be actually charged and court martialed. These soldiers were subjected to many months of unjust and illegal punishment prior to their day in court.
Shortly after Dustin first contacted us, staff organizer Sarah Lazare traveled across the country and not only met with Dustin and other members of his unit, she also recorded an interview with their commanding officer! After her first article was published, living conditions improved. After her second article, co-authored with Dahr Jamail, βEcho Platoonβ was disbanded. And after we mailed hundreds of petitions to military authorities on behalf of supporters like yourself, Dustinβs court martial for desertion was canceled. He was discharged last week.
Dustin intends to continue fighting for GI resisters:
I was let out because I have a big mouth and a lot of people backing me up. The guys and girls that stay quiet are still getting screwed. How do we fix this, how do we help these people? Fort Bragg is just one problem, there are many more.
I am eternally grateful for the help that I received from Courage to Resist and others like them. But I am far from finished. My fight is for every single person that has the right to choose. I will fight for the soldiers with a conscience. I will not stop my fight, ever.

About 25 of us trudged towards military prison 400, just outside of Tel Aviv, coils of razor wire and lookout towers looming above us, fields of mud and dry grass to our right. As we walked past, soldiers in the towers yelled out to us in Hebrew: βWe are prisoners, tooβ and βWe donβt like the cops either!β referring to the two police vehicles trailing us. When we reached our destination β an opening in the field, nestled between the fences marking the perimeter of the prison β we began setting up the sound system and preparing for the dayβs goal of reaching earshot of Or Ben-David, a young Israeli being held in prison for refusing the army draft.
Our gathering consisted predominantly of young Israelis who had themselves been conscientious objectors, some of whom had been held in that same prison quite recently, some of whom had just refused and were scheduled to report to prison in a few months. The crowd also included some older radicals, a smattering of internationals, and of course us β U.S. War resisters, Iraq Veterans Against the War, and anti-militarist organizers, here to lend our support to Israeli and Palestinian movements against occupation.
Raz Bar-David, a military resister who had spent time behind those bars, explained that we were at the point where we could best be heard by Or. And it is a good thing she could, because the sounds being emitted over this barren military landscape were worth hearing.

He started to recruit other students, as he had done so many times before. But it was harder. “Everyone hated the [unelected] government [of Hosni Mubarak], and the US for backing it,” he says. But there was an inhibiting sympathy for the victims of 9/11 — until the Bush administration began to respond with Guantanamo Bay and bombs. “That made it much easier. After that, I could persuade people a lot faster.”
Nawaz was ultimately imprisoned in Egypt and was surrounded by Egyptian prisoners who were being brutally tortured by a government propped up by the U.S. (he was spared only because he was a British citizen). Consider what began to change Nawaz’s views on the rightness of his Islamic extremism:
Maajid’s Islamist convictions were about to be challenged from two unexpected directions — the men who murdered Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, and Amnesty International.
HT [the Islamic group which he had headed] abandoned Maajid as a “fallen soldier” and barely spoke of him or his case. But when his family were finally allowed to see him, they told him he had a new defender. Although they abhorred his political views, Amnesty International said he had a right to free speech and to peacefully express his views, and publicised his case.
“I was just amazed,” Maajid says. “We’d always seen Amnesty as the soft power tools of colonialism. So, when Amnesty, despite knowing that we hated them, adopted us, I felt — maybe these democratic values aren’t always hypocritical. Maybe some people take them seriously … it was the beginning of my serious doubts.”
In other words, the very policies the U.S. has been pursuing in the name of combating Terrorism — invading, occupying, and bombing Muslim countries; locking them up without trials; torturing them; violating the values we’ve been preaching to the world — have been the most potent instruments for fueling Islamic radicalism and terrorism. By contrast, those who have been continuously accused of being “soft on Terrorism” and even being allied with the Terrorists — those who opposes our various wars, who demanded and provided basic human rights protections and equal liberties to Muslims, who objected to their own governments’ oppressive and belligerent policies — have done more to diffuse and impede Muslim radicalism than virtually anyone else in the world.
These truths are so self-evident that they shouldn’t require journalists like Hari to document. If we invade, bomb and attack Muslim countries — and uniquely deny to them the rights we claim are universal (such as the right to be free of torture and imprisonment without trials) — then far more Muslims are going to wallow in rage and hatred for the West and be willing and eager to return the treatment. Conversely, seeing Westerners speak out against their countries’ attacks on, and oppressive policies towards, Muslims renders far harder to sustain the divisiveness and demonization on which all radicalism feeds. This is all basic cause and effect, as even the Pentagon’s own Task Force concluded all the way back in 2004 in explaining how and why our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are severely exacerbating the threat of Terrorism.
Despite how obvious and well-documented these truths are, so many American elites continue to ignore them. Writing in Newsweek this week, Slate’s Editor-in-Chief Jacob Weisberg looks at the Fort Hood shootings and various disrupted terrorist plots and concludes that Obama has perhaps been too conciliatory towards Muslims; that “Obama’s [so-called] olive-branch strategy” has not made us safer, at least in the short-term; and that “Obama’s heritage feeds a broader suspicion that he is too casual about the threat from America’s Islamist enemies.” In what fantasy world is Jacob Weisberg living?
Obama is presiding over active wars in three separate Muslim countries — Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. All year long, there has been an abundance of video footage of Muslim villages — including scores of women and children — being wiped out by American air raids. Obama has already escalated the war in Afghanistan. His administration is actively demanding the right to abduct people and imprison them at Bagram with no charges and is actively protecting those who spent the last decade torturing Muslims and disppearing them to secret camps. Our steadfast alliance with Israel — which The New York Times’ Mark Mazzetti documented this weekend was a prime motivating factor in the militarism and hatred of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed — has been symbolically altered by Obama but otherwise remains fully in place. It’s true that Obama has sand-papered some of the roughest rhetorical and policy edges of the Bush/Cheney approach — explicitly barring torture and CIA black sites, trying to close Guantanamo, sounding a far different tone in how he speaks about and to the Muslim world — but, at least so far, many of the fundamentals remain largely in place, and it’s thus unsurprising that Obama’s intense international popularity has not yet translated to much of the Muslim world.
Despite all that, people like Jacob Weisberg fret that Obama “has not taken the radical Islamist threat to American security — at home or in Afghanistan — seriously enough,” and demand that Obama announce to the world that “America does not face a threat from the perversion of faith in general. We face a threat from the perversion of one faith in particular.” Even in the face of mountains of evidence that this sort of heightened aggression and oppression exacerbates the threat of Islamic terrorism, people like Weisberg continue to demand more of it. And even in the face of the most compelling evidence imaginable that accommodation to the Muslim world and treating Muslims equally and respectfully is the greatest threat to the Islamic extremist, people like Weisberg perpetually worry that we’re doing too much of that. At some point, a rational person has to wonder whether people like Jacob Weisberg — who endlessly advocate policies that fuel Islamic extremism and intensify tension between the West and the Muslim world — aren’t desirous of exactly that outcome. After decades of pursuing this blatantly counter-productive approach, what else could explain such moral and intellectual blindness?

Subject: Report on today’s Hilo Vets parade of Strykers, Humvees, etc.
Aloha kakou,
About 40-50 people in total turned out, during the nearly 3 and l/2 hour protest at today’s Hilo Veterans Parade. The protest focus was the U.S. illegal wars of aggression and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan and the military including vehicles from Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) recently returned from Iraq. Among those present were Kanaka Maoli leaders, Kelii, “Skippy” Ioane, a Vietnam vet, Moanikeala Akaka, Moana Tavares, and Noelani Mason, who together with David Schlesinger and others were broadcasting the protest live on Youthbuiltmedia.com. Also joining the protest was 95 year old Don Swergfegger, a retired methodist minister. About l500 leaflets were distributed to people along the parade route and even some parade participants. The leaflet was entitled “Help Protect Veterans & Public Health.” It warned about the dangers of possible DU contamination of the military vehicles in the Hilo parade.
PTA’s commanding officer, Lt. Col. Warline Richardson’s words that there would be no mobile weapon systems on military vehicles in todays’ parade turned out to be false Two command Stryker vehicles at the end of the parade (just in front of the ending firetruck) were preceded by several Humvees armed with machine guns. It’s interesting that the Strykers and Humvees were placed at the end of the parade, even though we stated clearly we had no intent of blocking such vehicles. The military obviously did not believe us. They made sure that if we attempted to block the Strykers it would only block them and not the rest of the parade. It should also be noted that members of a right wing citizen group called “The Eagles” were walking as escorts for the Strykers and there were several Hawaii County police on bicycles also acting as a security escort for the Strykers.
The Strykers and Humvees, recently returned from Iraq, are currently training at the PTA in the center of our island home that is officially acknowledged to be contaminated with DU. Hawaii’s Stryker brigade is training for redeployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan. These vehicles participated in the Hilo parade in violation of Army Regulation 700-48 according to Doug Rokke, PH.D. Major, retired U.S. Army, and Director U.S. Army Depleted Uranium (DU) Project. Rokke says: “Any and all combat vehicles and equipment (everything) returned from Iraq should be prohibited from any civilian area. (including this parade) A standard wash rack is useless for decontamination… Army regulation 700-48, section 2-4 requires isolation from all human contact. Even after extensive depot level cleaning I found DU, and other radiological, chemical and biological contamination in vehicles years later. The gross contamination of equipment, vehicles, terrain, air, water, soil and food is reflected in, and verified by the hundreds of thousands of US casualties with serious medical problems that are unrelated to bullets or bombs, but are directly related to all of these toxic exposures. Hawaii’s isolated and pristine environment should not be exposed to, and consequently placed in danger through, any exposure to any of the contaminants brought back by the US military from war zones.”
All in all, the day of leafleting and protest went very well. There was minimal hostility. The leaflet was crafted to focus on protecting Veterans and Public Health. Who can be against that? We had a very good location for the protest and even many of the vets in the parade gave positive thumbs up signals to many of our signs such as: “No War Surge,” “Protect the Troops from DU,” “Aloha Means Peace,” “Stop the Wars,” and “End Occupations.” Clearly the current wars are not popular even at a veterans parade. And the fact that the Strykers — the modern chariots of empire, had to be placed last in the parade and be under right wing (Eagle) and police escort, was a sign of the military’s unpopular status as occupier of the independent nation of Hawaii.

Group to protest Strykers

The decision to invite Stryker vehicles to a Hilo Veterans Day parade is stirring up a military-grade headache.
The third annual parade begins at 10 a.m. today and runs through downtown Hilo, featuring seven bands, veterans of all wars from World War II to the present, and a flyover by a Black Hawk helicopter.
The featured veterans this year served in the military intelligence service of the 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Regiment during World War II. Hawaii’s most recent veterans, comprising the 299th Cavalry Army National Guard, which recently returned from Iraq, will also be honored.
It’s one of the bigger parades of the year, with some 50 units proceeding at a stately pace through Hilo’s usual parade route. Estimates for participation range between 800 and 1,000 people.
But all of that is being overshadowed by a controversy over Stryker combat vehicles that have been invited.
Organizers hoped to keep word of the vehicles a secret from peace activists like Jim Albertini of the Malu Aina Center for Non-Violent Education and Action, in an attempt to ward off conflict.
Albertini found out anyway, and on Sunday wrote an open letter to Lt. Col. Warline Richardson of Pohakuloa Training Area, asking that the vehicles be kept out of the parade.
Albertini says he’s concerned that the presence of the vehicles “glorifies war” under the guise of honoring veterans. He’s also raised concerns that the Strykers, which are involved in training exercises at Pohakuloa, could be contaminated with depleted uranium and may pose a health risk to citizens.
Richardson called Albertini on Monday to confirm that two Strykers would be in the parade, but they would be unarmed command vehicles. There would be numerous other, non-controversial vehicles in the parade, including an ambulance and transport vehicles.
Reached at Pohakuloa, Richardson stepped back from confirming anything and referred questions to the U.S. Army Garrison public affairs office on O’ahu.
Pohakuloa’s official word was “no comment,” and Army spokesman Loran Doane would not confirm the vehicles would be in the parade.
Dan Kama, a board member of the parade, was also mum.”What’s going to happen at the parade happens,” he said.
Supporters of the Strykers will wave flags and signs during the parade, said Daryl Smith, chairman of the local Republican Party.
“It’s more of a tea party group than a Republican Party group,” Smith said. “They’re going to try and balance Jim’s protest.”
Albertini’s peace group plans to hand out leaflets to parade-goers before it starts. The group will hold a peaceful sign-waving along Kamehameha Avenue, across from the Hilo Farmers Market.
There are no plans to disrupt the parade, Albertini said.
