Greetings!

Education, references, documentation, research possibilities, etc. is part of the purposes of this publication. Empowerment comes with knowledge. Knowledge about issues in these days are very important. It is hoped that this information will assist in helping to resolve issues and meant to document history of our Hawaiian people, which has also affected free nations in the world today.

Because we are a genealogy based society, Hawaiian genealogical records are posted for your personal or family files. At times, genealogies of U.S. Presidents, etals. will be added when it pertains to political issues that affect many. Aged articles/ historical information, laws, etc. affecting us today will also be posted.

Ordinarily, the information presented are banned/limited/ eliminated from the recognized press or media companies controlled by government or many who perpetuate fraud, deviance, criminal malfeasance in Hawaii, Abroad and the United States.

All of IO-LANI – THE ROYAL HAWK – issues will be filed at the yahoogroups. com site, see Hawaiian_Genealogy_ Society-akg. or see http://www.theiolani. blogspot. com

(4) aggression, military and weapons cannot be used which is contrary to Neutrality/Neutral nation,
(5) Public Law 103-150 signed by U.S. President Clinton is an admission of crimes by a belligerent occupying nation documented and recognized as a continued perpetuation of the frauds, deceits, corruption, criminal negligence, which demonstrates an ongoing effort to perpetuate piracies on the high seas, promote lies, promote and perpetuate the Business of Wars, continue a War with our neutral, friendly, non-violent nation and other nations who question the U.S., etc.
(6) criminally removing or planning to remove ancestral remains from Private Properties,
(7) intentions to maliciously utilize toxins, poisons, radioactive hazards freely on Private Properties,

(10) committing acts of lawlessness on a foreign nation
(11) committing U.S. Constitution breaches/failure to support the U.S. Constitution, etc.
(12) subject to Genocide charges, etc.

Legal Issues Presented

Am hereby including further information about other groups of owners/caretakers who you/the NRC/Nuclear Regulatory Agency have failed to respect, and recognize the rights of. They are as follows:

(1) the occupants (hoaaina) – in this case, the ancestral iwi remains “flags of occupancy, lands whose descendants exist or which the Konohiki (landlord) may reclaim.
(2) the Konohiki (landlord) – whose descendants/heirs succeed and who has the right to participate in lease land transactions, and who receives half the rent.
(3) the Government – which is the Kingdom of Hawaii and not the entity State of Hawaii which falls into the conspirators group documented in Public Law 103-150 signed by U.S. President William Clinton in 1993. Additionally, the entity State of Hawaii is not related to our families and are not living human beings.

Reference(s):

“The Act of Nov. 7, 1846, “on the subject of rights in land” (p. 70, Ib.), defines the rights of the occupants, (hoaaina,) of the landlord, (konohiki,) and of the Government, saying that “the Government shall also have the right to lease land at discretion, though not without the knowledge of the konohiki, and he shall receive half the rent;” also, “If the Government wish to have its portion of the uncultivated part of any ili or ahupuaa set off according to its rights,” a prescribed course may be followed., etc.

Background of Lands, Private Properties Wrongfully Occupied by the Military – Makua, Pohakuloa, Schofield, etc.

Keohokalole (w) was the Konohiki of Makua; held for Kauikeouli/Kamehameha III.

Kauikeouli/Kamehameha III sealed the Crown Lands for his “heirs and successors” which was wrongfully interpreted as “the heirs are successors”.

Kauikeouli/Kamehameha III’s heirs included Kamehameha’s, Kaumualii’s, his uncle’s, aunt’s, stepmother’s, and his hanai/adoptive children.

Land Owners

I also direct you to the documents which may be found at the Archives, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii; whereas, Kauikeouli/Kamehameha III did declare his cousins as part of his heirs through hanai/adoptive relationship and recorded in the Native Register/Testimoies at the Archives, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii.

His heirs and successors are the owners of the Crown Lands.

Additionally, our families are part of the Konohiki descendants/heirs for the area.

The Konohiki (landlords) supports the claims of the occupants or the ancestors who remain buried on the land and their descendants/heirs. The Konohiki (landlords) also retain the lands in the event the occupants descendants/heirs no longer exists.

The rights, privileges of Kamehameha III’s hanai/adoptive children (Keoni Ana, Grace Kamaikui, James Young Kanehoa, Gina Lahilahi, Fanny Kekela, Hueu Davis,
Kale Davis, and Peke Davis remains and their konohiki rights, privileges continue on in their descendants.

I, Amelia Gora, Acting Liaison of Foreign Affairs descend from Kamehameha, John Young, Isaac Davis, Grace Kamaikui, and Peke Davis.

The Government – in this case the Kingdom of Hawaii Government remains under the claims of our neutral, non-violent, friendly nation which certainly is not the entity State of Hawaii which evolved from American conspirators collaborating with the U.S. government since the missionaries arrived in 1820.

An abundant amount of evidence supporting the crimes of a pirating nation usurping a neutral nation’s head of state and assuming lands, resources, monies, gold bullions, gold coins, buildings, identities is partly covered under Public Law 103-150 signed by U.S. President William Clinton in 1993.

Kingdom of Hawaii Records No. 2010-0155 Opposition to the Covenant, a Ceremonial Covenant on March 24, 2010 to U.S. President Obama, et. als.

Greetings,

Opposition to the Covenant, a Ceremonial Covenant to be signed by Maj. Gen. Michael J. Terry, commanding general, 8th Theater Sustainment Command, Matthew T. Margotta, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Hawai’i, Royal Order of Kamehameha and Benevolent Societies, Rev. William Kaina, the senior pastor of Kawaihao Church, Neil Hannahs, Kamehameha Schools and Bishop Estate land manager, a member of the Native Hawaiian Advisory Council, Annelle Amaral, Native Hawaiian liaison to the Army, and employee of the entity State of Hawaii – Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA), Governor Linda Lingle, et. als. of the entity State of Hawaii who fails to respect, protect the lives and safety of our aboriginal Hawaiians/kanaka maoli/Hawaiian Nationals, American citizens and foreigners in our Hawaiian Islands, is hereby documented by Amelia Gora, Acting Liaison of Foreign Affairs, Royal Families House of Nobles, Kingdom of Hawaii/Hawaiian Kingdom/Hawaiian Islands/Hawaiian archipelago/He Mokupuni Pae Aina o Hawaii.

Background:

Evidence Found:

*The military is documented as the movers of criminal activities in our Hawaiian Islands and acted on the premeditation of Congress orders to assume our Hawaiian Kingdom seven days before dethroning our Queen, caused duress upon our Queen, our subjects, foreigners, a neutral, friendly non-violent nation.

Gatling guns, weaponry, were gotten and used claiming protection of Americans in Hawaii who conspired, and was supported by American Civil War General and President Benjamin Harrison, et. als.

*The Royal Order of Kamehameha and Benevolent Societies are not the appropriate people in place to process matters of a foreign jurisdiction. They are a group of elderly people who are not aware of the destruction, the criminal deviance incurred over time by a belligerent, aggressive nation who sought the wealth of our neutral, non-violent nation. Many members have resorted to a symbolic group with socializing without regard for our ancestors history, etc. They are part of the descendants of the conspirators/treasonous Hawaiians who were paid between $50-$500 to support the conspiring Americans: Dole, Bishop, Thurston, Judd’s, King’s, Thomas Akaka, Dr. Mott Smith et. als.

* a member of the Native Hawaiian Advisory Council, (persons name undisclosed)

*Annelle Amaral, Native Hawaiian liaison to the Army, and employee of the entity State of Hawaii – Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA), a criminal entity put together by deviousness and operating under the claims of a government put together by a belligerent process utilizing identity theft over the utilization of the term “Native Hawaiian” which accomodates all people born in the Hawaiian Islands.

References: Rice vs. Cayetano Case, First Circuit Court, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii; CHRONOLOGICAL HISTORY OF HAWAII, ABROAD, AND THE UNITED STATES (2003) by Amelia Gora, etc.

* Governor Linda Lingle, et. als. who claim to be operating the Hawaiian Kingdom government when they are really a belligerent occupier, which evolved from the Provisional government – documented as neither de facto, nor de jure by our Queen Liliuokalani, then turned to a Republic with the intentions of being like the Republic of Texas, then to Territory, then State of Hawaii with oppositions documented every step of the way.

Summary

A Belligerent occupier, supported by the military which has historically acted in an aggressive manner with the intent to claim lands, monies, resources from a friendly, neutral nation, who holds hostage the innocent people of our Hawaiian archipelago utilizing weapons of mass destruction for target practice and defends a nation(s) who has criminally maneuvered, created wars against innocents, is bankrupt, cannot Treaty or have a Convention with non-bloods of our Royal families, and fail to protect the lives and safety of their own citizenry, including the aboriginal land owners who legally owns the Hawaiian archipelago.

Since the admission of crimes in Public Law 103-150 signed by U.S. President William Clinton, it is and remains unacceptable for you to maintain any form of treaty, convention, pact with a neutral, non-violent nation, for we are not on the same page to put it simply.

An eviction notice was served. Time to leave is documented as December 2010.

The entity State of Hawaii are not related to our families. The Trustees of the Bishop Estates/KSBE/Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estates are not related to us and if they claim to be, documentation is available showing their status as treasonous, conspirator descendants, etc.

Reminder

Kauikeaouli/Kamehameha III’s heirs includes his sibling’s descendants, many Kamehameha’s descendants exist, as well as his heirs who are the descendants of John Young and Isaac Davis who are also the heirs of lands that the State Capitol sits on as well.

The Covenant, a ceremonial Covenant is a documented set to be recognized by our people and all in the World of the ongoing mischievous criminal activities set in place by a bankrupt, corrupt, illegal entity, that has no legal claims in our Hawaiian archipelago.

All nations should observe this, and continue to spend very little when you come to our Hawaiian Islands, because as you will notice that Hawaii’s history affects the World today, the claims to Pearl Harbor by the U.S. is a Fraud, as I, Amelia Gora, did enter the Condemnation Court Case and a Fraud Deed was part of the files promoted by the KSBE/Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estates trustees supporting the U.S. in Hawaii.

I hereby certify the above to be true, and much of the information has been posted on the internet, through books, articles, the news on the web IOLANI – The Royal Hawk, on blogs, etc. for the world to see.

We remain, and maintain that our Hawaiian Kingdom is a neutral, non-violent nation, with a belligerent occupier through the military who moves to further rape, muck up, have ill intent to destroy, and decimate our good people.

This message further reminds you that the eviction notice was served. No more weaponry DU/depleted uranium use etc. is acceptable.

You are reminded to vacate with your Stryker’s vehicles, etc.

We are and remain a neutral, non-violent nation.

Sincerely,

Re: Kingdom of Hawaii – Records. No. 2009-0327 Legal Notice – Depleted Uranium and other Contaminants banned on our families lands January 5, 2009 – Official Notice by Amelia Gora, a Royal person and Acting Liaison of Foreign Affairs

This notice is to inform you that on this day, January 5, 2009, you “includes everyone occupying our families properties, also known as the Crown Lands and wrongfully, criminally claimed as the ceded lands and occupying/belligerently occupying our private properties” are hereby given notice that you are hereby banned from authorizing, conveying, acknowledging, allowing the occupying military, et. als. from holding, using, spreading, contaminating our private properties on the Hawaiian archipelago from this day forward.

The Kingdom of Hawaii/Hawaiian Kingdom/Hawaiian Islands/Hawaiian archipelago/He Mokupuni Pae Aina o Hawaii government along with the Royal families remain a neutral, non-violent, friendly nation which did go “underground”. The owners of these lands exist, including I, Amelia Gora, who did oppose DU/depleted uranium in Hawaii along with Jim Albertini, Isaac Harp, Luwella Leonardi, etals. and have spoken with people at the NRC who did approve my electronic file number over the phone……and the number was approved till November of 2010.

The Administrative process continues; however, the owners ban to not allow the use of DU/depleted uranium on our private properties supercedes the requests by a belligerent occupier the right to possess.

As one of the descendants of Kauikeaouli/Kamehameha III’s adopted children, I, Amelia Gora, hereby demand that you cease and desist your activities of harming all on our lands, our citizenry including our families, our kanaka maoli/aboriginal Hawaiians, the U.S. citizens, and our friendly foreign visitors from foreign nations who are all innocents in these matters.

Payments for our families land use has not been received by our proper parties, and the following past notice of Eviction was posted to your President Obama, military, governor who fails to comply.

It is not O.K. to utilize nuclear weapons here and total removal of all nuclear warfare from, in, around our lands is expected.

The decay of the American structure appears to be had by the Nuclear Regulatory group which perseveres to play a role in terminating the lives of innocents/Plundering Upon Innocents and operates under the controls of others.

I ask/suggest/demand that you cease and desist immediately.

If you fail to do so, all nations will see the continued wickedness, the nature of the U.S., a true terrorist nation, etc. I say this due to the fact that I intervened in the Pearl Harbor Condemnation case and witnessed the fact and have the documentations of a FRAUD DEED entered in the claims over the Halawa Ahupuaa which was used in claiming PEARL HARBOR — I have the evidence entered by the attorneys for the Kamehameha Schools Bishop Estates/Kamehameha Schools/Trustees which shows a FRAUD deed of King David Kalakaua deed to two deceased ancestors of ours: Mataio Kekuanaoa who died in 1868, and Grace Kamaikui who died in 1866…..the FRAUD deed was dated 1876 or 8-9 years AFTER they died. In other words, the U.S. criminal claim to PEARL HARBOR was based on a FRAUD, and many INNOCENTS died needlessly including those in the MARSHALL ISLANDS; HIROSHIMA, JAPAN; NAGASAKI, JAPAN; including our Hawaiian Islands due to tests on the island of Kahoolawe; the practice areas in NEVADA, etc.

We have done no wrongs to you, it was the your government that “breached the Laws of Nations” documented our Queen/
Queen Liliuokalani in 1893.

Subject: Report on today’s Hilo Vets parade of Strykers, Humvees, etc.

Aloha kakou,
About 40-50 people in total turned out, during the nearly 3 and l/2 hour protest at today’s Hilo Veterans Parade. The protest focus was the U.S. illegal wars of aggression and occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan and the military including vehicles from Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA) recently returned from Iraq. Among those present were Kanaka Maoli leaders, Kelii, “Skippy” Ioane, a Vietnam vet, Moanikeala Akaka, Moana Tavares, and Noelani Mason, who together with David Schlesinger and others were broadcasting the protest live on Youthbuiltmedia.com. Also joining the protest was 95 year old Don Swergfegger, a retired methodist minister. About l500 leaflets were distributed to people along the parade route and even some parade participants. The leaflet was entitled “Help Protect Veterans & Public Health.” It warned about the dangers of possible DU contamination of the military vehicles in the Hilo parade.
PTA’s commanding officer, Lt. Col. Warline Richardson’s words that there would be no mobile weapon systems on military vehicles in todays’ parade turned out to be false Two command Stryker vehicles at the end of the parade (just in front of the ending firetruck) were preceded by several Humvees armed with machine guns. It’s interesting that the Strykers and Humvees were placed at the end of the parade, even though we stated clearly we had no intent of blocking such vehicles. The military obviously did not believe us. They made sure that if we attempted to block the Strykers it would only block them and not the rest of the parade. It should also be noted that members of a right wing citizen group called “The Eagles” were walking as escorts for the Strykers and there were several Hawaii County police on bicycles also acting as a security escort for the Strykers.
The Strykers and Humvees, recently returned from Iraq, are currently training at the PTA in the center of our island home that is officially acknowledged to be contaminated with DU. Hawaii’s Stryker brigade is training for redeployment to either Iraq or Afghanistan. These vehicles participated in the Hilo parade in violation of Army Regulation 700-48 according to Doug Rokke, PH.D. Major, retired U.S. Army, and Director U.S. Army Depleted Uranium (DU) Project. Rokke says: “Any and all combat vehicles and equipment (everything) returned from Iraq should be prohibited from any civilian area. (including this parade) A standard wash rack is useless for decontamination… Army regulation 700-48, section 2-4 requires isolation from all human contact. Even after extensive depot level cleaning I found DU, and other radiological, chemical and biological contamination in vehicles years later. The gross contamination of equipment, vehicles, terrain, air, water, soil and food is reflected in, and verified by the hundreds of thousands of US casualties with serious medical problems that are unrelated to bullets or bombs, but are directly related to all of these toxic exposures. Hawaii’s isolated and pristine environment should not be exposed to, and consequently placed in danger through, any exposure to any of the contaminants brought back by the US military from war zones.”
All in all, the day of leafleting and protest went very well. There was minimal hostility. The leaflet was crafted to focus on protecting Veterans and Public Health. Who can be against that? We had a very good location for the protest and even many of the vets in the parade gave positive thumbs up signals to many of our signs such as: “No War Surge,” “Protect the Troops from DU,” “Aloha Means Peace,” “Stop the Wars,” and “End Occupations.” Clearly the current wars are not popular even at a veterans parade. And the fact that the Strykers — the modern chariots of empire, had to be placed last in the parade and be under right wing (Eagle) and police escort, was a sign of the military’s unpopular status as occupier of the independent nation of Hawaii

Subject: Additional Information for the Kawaihae Artifacts – Multiple Claims from Amelia Gora, a Royal person, a living human beingFwd: Official Royal Letter No. 001: Royal Family(ies) Representative and Descendant of Peke Davis Adopted daughter of Kamehameha
To: bettyk@bishopmuseum.org, erin.tamashiro@bishopmuseum.org, mbaron@bishopmuseum.org

Greetings,

The above contains more information regarding my families genealogies……..I am claiming lineal heirship to the Kawaihae artifacts as well as being part of the Hawaiian Genealogy Society.

Multiples of claims have been submitted in 2008, etc. as well with a copy posted to your office.

Another claimant did claim as an heir and to date has never stated that I’m part of his family. Also, I don’t know how he is directly connected to me or my family as a descendant of Peke Davis
and as a descendant of Abigail Kapooloku/Princess Poomaikelani.

Therefore, the families, the direct descendants of John Young the awardees of the Kawaihae lands includes my personal claims, and some of the families who are part of the Hawaiian Genealogy Society
and whose claims supercedes all of the others, including the recent claimants.

Thank you for your assistance in these matters.

Sincerely,

Amelia Gora, descendant of Peke Davis, Princess Poomaikelani, Nuuanu (documented lineal descendant) Kalaniopuu, Keliimaikai, Kamehameha et. als.
Heir of Luluhiwalani, Kalola, et. als.

p.s. I have done a thorough research on our Peke Davis line, and she had two (2) sons who were co-heirs of her lands.

One more thing, I forgot to mention, if Obama sign that agreement to lessen the nuclear war heads and share that data with Russia and they exchange information that is, where are they going to dispose of it, huh? Pacific Ocean like they have been doing and it’s okay now to clean it up with Robtos which is what they are doing now. Kaohi

Amelia,

The sit in issue at the governors office brings to mind, how a political representive can discount knowledge. Three things come to mind children siting at their desk during the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The second, educational monies from the ceeded lands debunked over the years through manipulative dealings behind closed doors by Na Kanaka and their buddies. It’s sad and a grave concern. A direct attack on children that are not sitting at their school desk or sitting at their school desk just because she has a beef with the DOE administration are just one of the actions this governor of the Hawaiian islands does in lieu of her brethens.

“In 1987, Phyllis LaFarge published The Strangelove Legacy, The Impact Of The Nuclear Threat On Children, chronicling through extended research the moral devastation wreaked on the children by the daily threat of annihilation. She quotes Freeman Dyson, who stated the world has been divided into two worlds, the world of the warriors, and the world of the victims, the children. It was William L. Laurence, sitting in the co-pilot’s seat of a B-29 over Nagasaki, and the children waiting to be vaporized below. This situation has not changed.” Written by Eustace C. Mullins 4-4-10 from her article “Why Hiroshima Was Destroyed The Detailed History Of An Infamous Era”

Mind you soon after Pono Kealoha printed two articles on the subject of Nuclear bombing he was ousted out of Maoliworld. Was that a coincidence? Spookey stuff and we are not even close to Halloween.

Knowing the governor and her need for the end game, I am not surprise about her justifycation to do what she is capable of doing and on a whim too for our Na Keiki. What concern’s me is her grand exit, I’m sure will be a whopper size. I just hope it’s not to support the military into a Mark 45 just off Hawaii’s shores so that we all turn into instant downwinders of the 21st century. Our children deserve not just better leadership, but someone that is a parent, nurturing, and hardly the goul that she is because she is a baron woman.

For years, and I’m sure you are aware of this from your past history research on the Hawaiian Kingdom’s and it’s booty used by the Rothschilds of the century. Stinking Pirates from hell wrecking our Monarchy and stealing their monies. Just as then the governor is repeating her families legacy with ceeded land monies and spending it on the 21st century Rothchilds in Hawaii. Not to get to way off topic, and because of Ho Ala Kanwai’s investigation to these monies in 1978, we learned that the cash monies could be traced to the DOE for their frivolous spending on anything, but Hawaiian children.

When one reads Maile Shimabukuro’s blog she’s submitting bills for investigation of the sales for ceded lands, or at least some form of transpanrency or accountability. Off the topic, children are a concern and from my perspective children in Hawaii at the present are not thought off as living in Hawaii in the 21st century. I don’t know how to tranistion children in Hawaii now into Hawaii’s future. At this time, I’m not even aware of any cooperative solutions among Hawaii’s citizens to even begin to think about living in Hawaii as oppose to living else where. The very nature of Global Villages and our tendencies to make our earth sick from nulcear industry for military games and get rich scheme sends fairy dust down from ones skies on the heads of our little children. Youtube Children singing “1000 oceans” for healing and the reasons why we say and do what we do on Maoliworld.

Much aloha for your mana’o, and sharing my thoughts with you Kaohi

Aloha Amelia,

I spoke to my kupuna today who tried to discourage a young man from shooting himeself in the head. I talked to the other person that approached him and tried to take away the gun too. I just don’t know anymore as to why people do ‘ice’ it is such a stupid thing for any living thing to do to one self.

Another realization that came to mind is keeping the communications open, and how sad certain people always want to shut down the course of action in terms of speaking up, engaging in a disscusio, and taking the time to write ones thoughts. Such greedy need to self grandize one self beyond the boundaries of humanity.

I’ll write again soon, love an aloha Kaohi

Same BS no matter how you word it. USAʻS BEEN @ NUCLEAR WAR WITH OUR PLANET USING DEPLETED URANIUM with a half life of 4.5BILLION YEARS!
YOU NEED TO UNDERSTAND THEIR “GLOBAL SECURITY” IS A NEW WORLD ORDER WHICH MASSIVE GENOCIDE OF 85% WORLD POPULATION!

Obama calls new nuclear strategy a ‘significant step’

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama today vowed to constrain use of the nation’s Cold War-era nuclear arsenal, in a bold but politically risky move aimed at discouraging the technology from spreading.

Obama’s plan, a sharp departure from his predecessor’s policy, downplays the nuclear threat posed by nations like Russia and China while emphasizing the threat posed by terrorists or states believed to encourage terrorism.
Obama said in a statement that his administration was taking a “significant step forward” by recognizing that “the greatest threat to U.S. and global security is no longer a nuclear exchange between nations, but nuclear terrorism by violent extremists and nuclear proliferation to an increasing number of states.
“Moreover, it recognizes that our national security and that of our allies and partners can be increasingly defended by America’s unsurpassed conventional military capabilities and strong missile defenses.”
The Nuclear Posture Review will help “stop the spread of nuclear weapons, prevent nuclear terrorism, and pursue the day when these weapons do not exist …,” Obama’s statement says.
Under the new plan, the U.S. promises not to use nuclear weapons against countries that don’t have them. The policy would not apply to states like North Korea and Iran, however, because of their refusal to cooperate with the international community on nonproliferation standards.
Obama’s plan would lessen the role nuclear weapons play in America’s defense planning.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said he welcomes the president’s reaffirmation of his commitment toward a nuclear-free world and believes the Nuclear Posture Review “is a timely initiative in that direction.”
Congressional Democrats also hailed the decision, while some Republicans said it could weaken the U.S. defense capability.
Rep. Buck McKeon of California, the top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, said the policy change could carry “clear consequences” for security and said he was troubled by “some of the language and perceived signals imbedded” in the policy.
At a Pentagon news conference, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said the unprecedented limits being placed on the U.S. nuclear arsenal won’t weaken the nation’s defense and will send a “strong message” to Iran and North Korea to “play by the rules.”
“All options are on the table when it comes to countries in that category,” Gates said.
Obama also has stopped short of saying the U.S. will never be the first to launch a nuclear attack, as many arms control advocates want.
Gates said the administration decided against limiting the nation’s options further because of the danger still being posed by the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
“This is obviously a weapon of last resort,” Gates told reporters. But “we also recognize the real world we continue to live in.”
Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said he “wholly endorses” the plan and believes it includes effective deterrents.
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said the redrawn policy shores up the U.S. commitment to global nonproliferation efforts, including the Nonproliferation Treaty, under which states without nuclear weapons are supposed to refrain from developing them.
She said Washington is reinforcing its commitment to a nonproliferation culture “by stating clearly for the first time that the United States will not use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear weapon states” that have signed the treaty and abide by it.
Clinton said the U.S. will continue to try to seek common ground with Russia on the issue of missile defense despite the Kremlin’s fear that such systems are aimed at crippling its nuclear arsenal.

Prudential Insurance came out of the Haystack Committee. Kaohi

Kaohi Comment by Kaohi on April 7, 2010 at 5:57am
One needs to understand how Hawaii fits into the new world order and that is from the Haystack committee, a life that I had to live without choice and now I am free.

This was the stepping off point for me and almost to a point of no return. But, thanks to my mom, I know longer have to live a life in their Haystack, I am free.

“Samuel J. Mills, Jr.

April 21, 1783 – 1818

The last child born to Mills, Sr. and Esther was a boy, named Samuel J. Mills, Jr. born April 21, 1783 in the parsonage of the Torringford Church. He was schooled in Torringford and in Morris Academy, South Farms, Litchfield before going to Williams College. One of his main influences was his mother. His mother had said “I consecrated this child to the service of God as a missionary.”
The Litchfield Hills has had much influence in missions work. Her influence is most prominent in that of missions with the gift of Samuel J. Mills, Jr. His biggest accomplishment was his participation in the Haystack Prayer Meeting at Williams College in 1806. He was one of five young men at that meeting; two of whom came from the Torringford Church and one from Kent, CT.
The seed was planted and germinated at the Torringford Church, which grew into the start of the American Board for Foreign Missions movement and the American Bible Society. It is with this mindset that the Torringford Volunteer Fire Department has adopted the Torringford seal, seen on all of our trucks. Like Samuel J. Mills, Jr. we have our own mission. Our mission is neighbors helping neighbors in their times of need. When you see us on the road or if you visit the fire house and see that seal on our vehicles, please remember how it all started in this area many years ago.”

In this Haystack committee, birthed the emancipation from slavery, and capitalism. What transpired from this prayer was the beginning of the missionaries in Hawaii. Should American Studies and Hawaiian Studies join hands at University of Hawaii at Manoa join hands they will conjoin and sister their premise of arguments from Williams College, Yale, MIT and Harvard. Hawaiians will have access to Stephen Phillips scholarship a once known anthropologist from Bishop Museum. His sister invented the Monopoly game, and she had set up a scholarship program for Hawaiians and Hawaiian research. One can visit Stephen Phillips home a museum today in Salem, Mass.

International Law, we need more students to study the rule of law and transition or bridge understanding as to why we are at the affect of world and military might.

Why Hiroshima Was Destroyed The Detailed History Of An Infamous Era

By Eustace C. Mullins

http://republicbroa dcasting. org/?p=7796

A very popular movie in Japan was Pride, The Fateful Moment, which shows Prime Minister General Hideki Tojo in a favorable light. With six others, he was hanged in 1968 as a war criminal. During
his trial, his lawyers stated to the International Tribunal for the Far
East, the Asian version of Nuremberg Trials, that Tojo’s war crimes
could not begin to approach the dropping of the atomic bombs on
Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The prosecutors immediately objected, and
censored their statements. That was the last time there was any official
recognition of the atomic bomb massacres in Japan. Japanese officials
have been effectively prevented from taking any stand on this matter
because the American military occupation, which
officially ended in 1952 with the Treaty with Japan, was quietly
continued. Today, 49,000 American troops are still stationed in Japan,
and there is no public discussion of the crimes of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki.

Cast of Characters

The House of Rothschild; international bankers who made enormous profits during the nineteenth century, and used their money to take over governments.

Bernard Baruch: New York agent of the Rothschilds who at the turn of the century set up the tobacco trust, the copper trust and other trusts for the Rothschilds. He became the grey eminence of the
United States atomic bomb program when his lackey, J. Robert
Oppenheimner, became director of the Los Alamos bomb development, and
when his Washington lackey, James F. Byrnes, advised Truman to drop the
atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Albert Einstein; lifelong Zionist who initiated the United States’ atomic bomb program with a personal letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939.

The Secret History Of The Atomic Bomb

SUBTITLE Why Hiroshima Was Destroyed – The Untold Story

By Eustace C. Mullins

June 1998

The world was stunned to learn that India has now tested nuclear weapons. For many years, all nations have been concerned about the proliferation of atomic explosives. Even in their distress, no
one seems to be interested in the historic or the psychological record
of why these weapons were developed, and what special breed of mankind
devoted themselves to this diabolical goal.

Despite the lack of public interest, the record is clear, and easily available to anyone who is interested. My interest in this subject, dormant for many years was suddenly rekindled during my
annual lecture tour in Japan. My hosts had taken me to the city of
Nagasaki for the first time. Without telling me their plans, they
entered the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum. I thought it would be an
interesting experience, but, to my surprise, when I walked into the
exhibition rooms, I was suddenly overcome by sadness. Realizing that I
was about to burst into tears, I moved away from my companions, and
stood biting my lip. Even so, it seemed impossible to control myself. I
was surrounded by the most gruesome objects, the fingers of
a human hand fused with glass, a photograph of the shadow of a man on a
brick wall; the man had been vaporized in the explosion .

A NEW MISSION

When I returned to the United States, I knew1 had to unearth the sinister figures behind greatest of human catastrophes. It took many weeks of research to uncover what turned out to be the most
far-reaching conspiracy of all time, the program of a few dedicated
revolutionaries to seize control of the entire world, by inventing the
powerful weapon ever unveiled.

The story begins in Germany. In the 1930s, Germany and Japan had a number of scientists icing on the development of nuclear fission. In both of these countries, their leaders sternly forbade them
to continue their research. Adolf Hitler said he would never allow
anyone in Germany to work to work on such an inhumane weapon.

The Emperor of Japan let his scientists know that he would never approve such a weapon. At that time the United States had no one working on nuclear fission. The disgruntled German scientists
contacted friends in the United States, and were told that there was a
possibility of government support for their work here. As Don Beyer
tells these immigrants to the United States pushed their program.

“Leo Szilard, together with his long time friends and fellow Hungarian physicists, Eugene Wigner and Edward Teller, agreed that the President must be warned; fission bomb tehnology was not so
farfetched. The Jewish emigres, now living in America, had personal
experience of fascism in Europe. In 1939, the three physicists enlisted
the support of Albert Einstein, letter dated August 2 signed by Einstein
was delivered by Alexander Sachs to Franklin D. Roosevelt at the White
House on October 11, 39.”

CRIMINALS ON DISPLAY

At the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, photographs of two men are prominently displayed; Albert Einstein, and J. Robert Oppenheimer, who developed the atomic bomb at Los Alamos laboratories,
New Mexico. Also on display is a statement from General Eisenhower, who
was then supreme Military Commander, which is found in number of books
about Eisenhower, and which can be found on p.426, Eisenhower by Stephen
E. Ambrose, Simon & Shuster, NY, 1983.

“Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson first told Eisenhower of the bomb’s existence. Eisenhower was engulfed by “a feeling of depression’. When Stimson said the United States proposed to
use the bomb against Japan, Eisenhower voiced ‘my grave misgivings,
first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that
dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I
thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use
(of atomic weapons).’ Stimson was upset by Eisenhower’s attitude ‘almost
angrily refuting the reasons I gave for my quick conclusion’. Three
days later, Eisenhower flew to Berlin, where he met with Truman and his
principal advisors. Again
Eisenhower recommended against using the bomb, and again was ignored.

Other books on Eisenhower state that he endangered his career by his protests against the bomb, which the conspirators in the highest level of the United States government had already sworn to use
against Japan, regardless of any military developments. Eisenhower could
not have known that Stimson was a prominent member of Skull and Bones
at Yale, the Brotherhood of Death, founded by the Russell Trust in 1848
as a bunch of the German Illuminati, or that they had played prominent
roles in organizing wars and revolutions since that time. Nor could he
have known that President Truman had only had one job in his career, as a
Masonic organizer for the State of Missouri, and that the lodges he
built up later sent him to the
United States Senate and then to the presidency.

ATOMIC TERRORISM

The man who set all this in motion was Albert Einstein, who left Europe and came to the United States in October 1933. His wife said that he “regarded human beings with detestation”. He had
previously corresponded with Sigmund Freud about his projects of “peace”
and “disarmament”, although Freud later said he did not believe that
Einstein ever accepted any of his theories. Einstein had a personal
interest in Freud’s work because his son Eduard spent his life in mental
institutions, undergoing both insulin therapy and electroshock
treatment, none of which produced any change in his condition.

When Einstien arrived in the United States, he was feted as a famous scientist, and was invited to the White House by President and Mrs. Roosevelt. He was soon deeply involved with Eleanor
Roosevelt in her many leftwing causes, in which Einstein heartily
concurred. Some of Einstein’s biographers hail the modern era as “the
Einstein Revolution” and “the Age of Einstein”, possibly because he set
in motion the program of nuclear fission in the United States. His
letter to Roosevelt requesting that the government inaugurate an atomic
bomb program was obviously stirred by his lifelong commitment to “peace
and disarmament”. His actual commitment was to Zionism; Ronald W. Clark
mentions in Einstein; His Life And
Times, Avon, 1971, p.377, “He would campaign with the Zionists for a
Jewish homeland in Palestine.” On p.460, Clark quotes Einstein, “As a
Jew I am from today a supporter of the Jewish Zionist efforts.” (1919)
Einstein’s letter to Roosevelt, dated august 2, 1939, was delivered
personally to President Roosevelt by Alexander Sachs on October 11. Why
did Einstein enlist an intermediary to bring this letter to Roosevelt,
with whom he was on friendly terms? The atomic bomb program could not be
launched without the necessary Wall Street sponsorship. Sachs, a
Russian Jew, listed his profession as “economist” but was actually a
bagman for the Rothschilds, who regularly delivered large sums of cash
to Roosevelt in the White House. Sachs was an advisor to Eugene Meyer of
the Lazard Freres International Banking House, and also with Lehman
Brothers, another well known banker. Sachs’ delivery of the Einstein
letter to the White House let Roosevelt
know that the Rothschilds approved of the project and wished him to go
full speed ahead.

A UNITED NATIONS PROJECT

In May of 1945, the architects of postwar strategy, or, as they liked to call themselves, the “Masters of the Universe”, gathered in San Francisco at the plush Palace Hotel to write the Charter
for the United Nations. Several of the principals retired for a private
meeting in the exclusive Garden Room. The head of the United States
delegation had called this secret meeting with his top aide, Alger Hiss,
representing the president of the United States and the Soviet KGB;
John Foster Dulles, of the Wall Street law firm of Sullivan and
Cromwell, whose mentor, William Nelson Cromwell, had been called a
“professional revolutionary” on the floor of Congress; and W. Averill
Harriman, plenipotentiary extraordinary, who
had spent the last two years in Moscow directing Stalin’s war for
survival. These four men represented the awesome power of the American
Republic in world affairs, yet of the four, only Secretary of State
Edward Stettinius Jr., had a position authorized by the Constitution.
Stettinius called the meeting to order to discuss an urgent matter; the
Japanese were already privately suing for peace, which presented a grave
crisis. The atomic bomb would not be ready for several more months. “We
have already lost Germany,” Stettinius said. “If Japan bows out, we
will not have a live population on which to test the bomb.”

“But, Mr. Secretary,” said Alger Hiss, “no one can ignore the terrible power of this weapon.” “Nevertheless,” said Stettinius, “our entire postwar program depends on terrifying the world
with the atomic bomb.” “To accomplish that goal,” said John Foster
Dulles, “you will need a very good tally. I should say a million.”
“Yes,” replied Stettinius, “we are hoping for a million tally in Japan.
But if they surrender, we won’t have anything.” “Then you have to keep
them in the war until the bomb is ready,” said John Foster Dulles. “That
is no problem. Unconditional surrender.” “They won’t agree to that,”
said Stettinius. “They are sworn to protect the Emperor.” “Exactly,”
said John Foster Dulles. “Keep Japan in the war another three months,
and we can use the bomb on their cities; we will end this war with the
naked fear of all the peoples of the world, who will then bow to our
will.”

Edward Stettinius Jr. was the son of a J.P. Morgan partner who had been the world’s largest munitions dealer in the First World War. He had been named by J.P. Morgan to oversee all purchases of
munitions by both France and England in the United States throughout the
war. John Foster Dulles was also an accomplished warmonger. In 1933, he
and his brother Allen had rushed to Cologne to meet with Adolf Hitler
and guaranteed him the funds to maintain the Nazi regime. The Dulles
brothers were representing their clients, Kuhn Loeb Co., and the
Rothschilds. Alger Hiss was the golden prince of the communist elite in
the united States. When he was chosen as head of the prestigious
Carnegie Endowment for International Peace after
World War II, his nomination was seconded by John Foster Dulles. Hiss
was later sent to prison for perjury for lying about his exploits as a
Soviet espionage agent.

This secret meeting in the Garden Room was actually the first military strategy session of the United Nations, because it was dedicated to its mission of exploding the world’s first atomic
weapon on a living population. It also forecast the entire strategy of
the Cold War, which lasted forty-three years, cost American taxpayers
five trillion dollars, and accomplished exactly nothing, as it was
intended to do. Thus we see that the New World Order has based its
entire strategy on the agony of the hundreds of thousands of civilians
burned alive at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, including many thousands of
children sitting in their schoolrooms. These leaders had learned from
their master, Josef Stalin, that no one can rule without
mass terrorism, which in turn required mass murder. As Senator
Vandenberg, leader of the Republican loyal opposition, was to say (as
quoted in American Heritage magazine, August 1977), “We have got to
scare the hell out of “em.”

THE JEWISH HELL-BOMB

The atomic bomb was developed at the Los Alamos Laboratories in New Mexico. The top secret project was called the Manhattan Project, because its secret director, Bernard Baruch, lived in
Manhattan, as did many of the other principals. Baruch had chosen Maj.
Gen. Leslie R. Groves to head the operation. He had previously built the
Pentagon, and had a good reputation among the Washington politicians,
who usually came when Baruch beckoned.

The scientific director at Los Alamos was J. Robert Oppenheimer, scion of a prosperous family of clothing merchants. In Oppenheimer; the Years Of Risk, by James Kunetka, Prentice Hall, NY,
1982, Kunetka writes, p. 106, “Baruch was especially interested in
Oppenheimer for the position of senior scientific adviser.” The project
cost an estimated two billion dollars. No other nation in the world
could have afforded to develop such a bomb. The first successful test of
the atomic bomb occurred at the Trinity site, two hundred miles south
of Los Alamos at 5:29:45 a.m. on July 16, 1945.

Oppenheimer was beside himself at the spectacle. He shrieked, “I am become Death, the Destroyer of worlds.” Indeed, this seemed to be the ultimate goal of the Manhattan Project, to destroy the
world. There had been considerable fear among the scientists that the
test explosion might indeed set off a chain reaction, which would
destroy the entire world. Oppenheimer’s exultation came from his
realization that now his people had attained the ultimate power, through
which they could implement their five-thousand- year desire to rule the
entire world.

THE BUCK PASSES TO TRUMAN

Although Truman liked to take full credit for the decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan, in fact, he was advised by a prestigious group, The National Defense Research Committee, consisting
of George L. Harrison, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New
York; Dr. James B. Conant, president of Harvard, who had spent the First
World War developing more effective poison gases, and who in 1942 had
been commissioned by Winston Churchill to develop an Anthrax bomb to be
used on Germany, which would have killed every living thing in Germany.
Conant was unable to perfect the bomb before Germany surrendered,
otherwise he would have had another line to add to his resume. His
service on Truman’s Committee which advised him
to drop the atomic bomb on Japan, added to his previous record as a
chemical warfare professional, allowed me to describe him in papers
filed before the United States Court of Claims in 1957, as “the most
notorious war criminal of the Second World War”. As Gauleiter of Germany
after the war, he had ordered the burning of my book, The Federal
Reserve Conspiracy, ten thousand copies having been published in
Oberammergau, the site of the world-famed Passion Play.

Also on the committee were Dr. Karl Compton, and James F. Byrnes, acting Secretary of State. For thirty years, Byrnes had been known as Bernard Baruch’s man in Washington. With his Wall Street
profits, Baruch had built the most lavish estate in South Carolina,
which he named Hobcaw Barony. As the wealthiest man in South Carolina,
this epitome of the carpet-bagger also controlled the political purse
strings. Now Baruch was in a position to dictate to Truman, through his
man Byrnes, that he should drop the atomic bomb on Japan.

LIPMAN SIEW

Despite the fact that the Manhattan Project was the most closely guarded secret of World War II, one man, and one many only, was allowed to observe everything and to know everything about the
project. He was Lipman Siew, a Lithuanian Jew who had come to the United
States as a political refugee at the age of seventeen. He lived in
Boston on Lawrence St., and decided to take the name of William L.
Laurence. At Harvard, he became a close friend of James B. Conant and
was tutored by him. When Laurence went to New York, he was hired by
Herbert Bayard Swope, editor of the New York World, who was known as
Bernard Baruch’s personal publicity agent. Baruch owned the World. In
1930, Laurence accepted an offer from the New York
Times to become its science editor. He states in Who’s Who that he “was
selected by the heads of the atomic bomb project as sole writer and
public relations.” How one could be a public relations writer for a top
secret project was not explained. Laurence was the only civilian present
at the historic explosion of the test bomb on July 16, 1945. Less than a
month later, he sat in the copilots seat of the B-29 on the fateful
Nagasaki bombing run.

WILL JAPAN SURRENDER BEFORE THE BOMB IS DROPPED?

There were still many anxious moments for the conspirators, who planned to launch a new reign of terror throughout the world. Japan had been suing for peace. Each day it seemed less likely
that she could stay in the war. On March 9 and 10, 1945, 325 B-29s had
burned thirty-five square miles of Tokyo, leaving more than one hundred
thousand Japanese dead in the ensuing firestorm. Of Japan’s 66 biggest
cities, 59 had been mostly destroyed. 178 square miles of urban
dwellings had been burned, 500,000 died in the fires, and now twenty
million Japanese were homeless. Only four cities had not been destroyed;
Hiroshima, Kokura, Niigata, and Nagasaki. Their inhabitants had no
inkling that they had been saved as target cities for
the experimental atomic bomb. Maj. Gen. Leslie Groves, at Bernard
Baruch’s insistence, had demanded that Kyoto be the initial target of
the bomb. Secretary of War Stimson objected, saying that as the ancient
capital of Japan, the city of Kyoto had hundreds of historic wooden
temples, and no military targets. The Jews wanted to destroy it
precisely because of its great cultural importance to the Japanese
people.

THE HORROR OF HIROSHIMA

While the residents of Hiroshima continued to watch the B-29s fly overhead without dropping bombs on them, they had no inkling of the terrible fate which the scientists had reserved for them.
William Manchester quotes General Douglas MacArtbur in American Caesar,
Little Brown, 1978, p.437

[quoting:] There was another Japan, and MacArthur was one of the few Americans who suspected its existence. He kept urging the Pentagon and the State Department to be alert for conciliatory
gestures. The General predicted that the break would come from Tokyo,
not the Japanese army. The General was right. A dovish coalition was
forming in the Japanese capital, and it was headed by Hirohito himself,
who had concluded in the spring of 1945 that a negotiated peace was the
only way to end his nation’s agony. Beginning in early May, a six-man
council of Japanese diplomats explored ways to accommodate the Allies.
The delegates informed top military officials that “our resistance is
finished”. [End
quoting]

On p.359, Gar Alperowitz quotes Brig. Gen. Carter W. Clarke, in charge of preparing the MAGIC summary in 1945, who stated in a 1959 historical interview, “We brought them down to an abject surrender
through the accelerated sinking of their merchant marine and hunger
alone, and when we didn’t need to do it, and knew we didn’t need to do
it, we used them as an experiment for two atomic bombs.”

Although President Truman referred to himself as the sole authority in the decision to drop the bomb, in fact he was totally influenced by Bernard Baruch’s man in Washington, James F. Byrnes. Gar
Alperowitz states, p. 196, “Byrnes spoke with the authority
of-personally represented- the president of the United States on all
bomb-related matters in the Interim Committee’s deliberations.” David
McCullough, in his laudatory biography of Truman, which was described as
“a valentine”, admitted that “Truman didn’t know his own Secretary of
State, Stettinius. He had no background in foreign policy, no expert
advisors of his own.”

The tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was that a weak, inexperienced president, completely under the influence of Byrnes and Baruch, allowed himself to be manipulated into perpetrating a terrible
massacre. In the introduction to Hiroshima’s Shadows, we find that
“Truman was moving in quite the opposite direction, largely under the
influence of Byrnes. The atom bomb for Byrnes was an instrument of
diplomacy-atomic diplomacy.” (p.ix)

MASS MURDER

On August 6, 1945, a uranium bomb 3-235, 20 kilotons yield, was exploded 1850 feet in the air above Hiroshima, for maximum explosive effect. It devastated four square miles, and killed 140,000 of
the 255,000 inhabitants. In Hiroshima’s Shadows, we find a statement by
a doctor who treated some of the victims; p.415, Dr. Shuntaro Hida: “It
was strange to us that Hiroshima had never been bombed, despite the
fact that B-29 bombers flew over the city every day. Only after the war
did I come to know that Hiroshima, according to American archives, had
been kept untouched in order to preserve it as a target for the use of
nuclear weapons. Perhaps, if the American administration and its
military authorities had paid sufficient
regard to the terrible nature of the fiery demon which mankind had
discovered and yet knew so little about its consequences, the American
authorities might never have used such a weapon against the 750,000
Japanese who ultimately became its victims.”

Dr. Hida says that while treating the terribly mangled and burned victims, “My eyes were ready to overflow with tears. I spoke to myself and bit my lip so that I would not cry. If I had cried, I
would have lost my courage to keep standing and working, treating dying
victims of Hiroshima.”

On p.433, Hiroshima’s Shadows, Kensaburo Oe declares, “From the instant the atomic bomb exploded, it became the symbol of all human evil; it was a savagely primitive demon and most modern curse…. My
nightmare stems from a suspicion that a ‘certain trust in human
strength’ or ‘humanism’ flashed across the minds of American
intellectuals who decided upon the project that concluded with the
dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima.”

In the introduction to Hiroshima’s Shadows, we find that “One of the myths of Hiroshima is that the inhabitants were warned by leaflets that an atomic bomb would be dropped. The leaflets Leonard
Nadler and William P. Jones recall seeing in the Hiroshima Museum in
1960 and 1970 were dropped after the bombing. This happened because the
President’s Interim Committee on the Atomic Bomb decided on May 31 ‘that
we could not give the Japanese any warning’. Furthermore, the decision
to drop ‘atomic’ leaflets on Japanese cities was not made until August
7, the day after the Hiroshima bombing. They were not dropped until
August 10, after Nagasaki had been bombed. We can say that the residents
of Hiroshima received no
advance warning about the use of the atomic bomb. On June 1, 1945, a
formal and official decision was taken during a meeting of the so-called
Interim Committee not to warn the populations of the specific target
cities. James Byrnes and Oppenheimer insisted that the bombs must be
used without prior warning.”

“Closely linked to the question of whether a warning of an atomic bomb attack was given to the civilian populations of the target cities is the third ‘article of fifth’ that underpins the
American legend of Hiroshima; the belief that Hiroshima and Nagasaki
were military targets. The Headquarters of the Japanese Second army were
located in Hiroshima and approximately 20,000 men-of which about half,
or 10,000 died in the attack. In Nagasaki, there were about 150 deaths
among military personnel in the city. Thus, between the two cities, 4.4%
of the total death toll was made up of military personnel. In short,
more than 95% of the casualties were civilians.”

On p.39 of Hiroshima’s Shadows we find that (at Hiroshima) “strictly military damage was insignificant.” How are we to reconcile this statement with Harry Truman’s vainglorious boast in Off
The Record; the Private Papers of Harry S. Truman Harper, 1980, p.304,
“In 1945 I had ordered the Atomic Bomb dropped on Japan at two places
devoted almost exclusively to war production.” In fact, many thousands
of the Hiroshima casualties were children sitting in their classrooms.

The bomb was dropped because (p.35) “The Manhattan Project’s managers were lobbying to use the atomic bomb. Byrnes sat in on these meetings. Maj. Gen. Groves seems to have been the author of the
claim that the use of the bomb would save a million American lives–a
figure in the realm of fantasy.”

Truman himself variously stated that the use of the use of the atomic bomb saved “a quarter of a million American lives”, a “half-million American lives”, and finally settled on the Gen. Groves
figure of “a million American lives saved.”

Meanwhile (p.64) William L. Laurence, who was writing for the New York Times at full salary while also receiving a full salary from the War Department as the “public relations agent for the atomic
bomb” published several stories in the New York Times denying that there
had been any radiation effects on the victims of the Hiroshima bombing
(Sept. 5, 1945 et seq.) in which he quotes General Groves’ indignant
comment, “The Japanese are still continuing their propaganda aimed at
creating the impression we won the war unfairly and thus attempting to
create sympathy for themselves.”

(p.66) “The Legation of Switzerland on August 11, 1945 forwarded from Tokyo the following memorandum to the State Department (which sat on it for twenty-five years before finally releasing it):
‘The Legation of Switzerland has received a communication from the
Japanese Government.’ On August 6, 1945, American airplanes released on
the residential district of the town of Hiroshima, bombs of a new type,
killing and injuring in one second a large number of civilians and
destroying a great part of the town. Not only is the city of Hiroshima a
provincial town without any protection or special military
installations of any kind, but also none of the neighboring regions or
towns constitutes a military
objective.”

The introduction to Hiroshima’s Shadows concludes that (p.lxvii) “The claim that an invasion of the Japanese home islands was necessary without the use of the atomic bombs is untrue. The claim that
an ‘atomic warning’ was given to the populace of Hiroshima is untrue.
And the claim that both cities were key military targets is untrue.”

A PILOT’S STORY

Corroboration of these statements is found in the remarkable record of Ellsworth Torrey Carrington, “Reflections of a Hiroshima Pilot”, (p.9) “As part of the Hiroshima atomic battle plan my
B-29 (named Jabbitt III, Captain John Abbott Wilson’s third war plane)
flew the weather observation mission over the secondary target of Kokura
on August 6, 1945.” (p. 10) “After the first bomb was dropped, the atom
bomb command was very fearful that Japan might surrender before we
could drop the second bomb, so our people worked around the clock,
24-hours-a-day to avoid such a misfortune.” This is, of course, satire
on Carrington’s part. (p. 13) “in city after city all over the face of
Japan (except for our cities
spared because reserved for atomic holocaust) they ignited the most
terrible firestorms in history with very light losses (of B-29s).
Sometimes the heat from these firestorms was so intense that later waves
of B-29s were caught by updrafts strong enough to loft them upwards
from 4 or 5,000 feet all the way up to 8 or 10,000 feet. The major told
us that the fire-bombing of Japan had proven successful far beyond
anything they had imagined possible and that the 20th Air Force was
running out of cities to burn. Already there were no longer (as of the first week in
June 1945) any target cities left that were worth the attention of more
than 50 B-29s, and on a big day, we could send up as many as 450
planes!” “The totality of the devastation in Japan was extraordinary,
and this was matched by the near-totality of Japan’s
defencelessness.” (as of June 1, 1945, before the atomic bombs were
dropped.) (p. 14) “The Truman government censored and controlled all the
war information that was allowed to reach the public, and of course,
Truman had a vested interest in obscuring the truth so as to
surreptitiously prolong the war and be politically able to use the atom
bomb. Regarding the second element of the Roosevelt-Truman atomic Cold
War strategy of deceiving the public into believing that Japan was still
militarily viable in the spring and summer of 1945, the centerpiece was
the terribly expensive and criminally unnecessary campaign against
Okinawa.

Carrington quotes Admiral William D. Leahy, p. 245, I Was There, McGraw Hill: “A large part of the Japanese Navy was already on the bottom of the sea. The combined Navy surface and air force action
even by this time had forced Japan into a position that made her early
surrender inevitable. None of us then knew the potentialities of the
atomic bomb, but it was my opinion, and I urged it strongly on the Joint
Chiefs, that no major land invasion of the Japanese mainland was
necessary to win the war. The JCS did order the preparation of plans for
an invasion, but the invasion itself was never authorized.”

Thus Truman, urged on by General Groves, claims that “a million American lives were saved” by the use of the atomic bomb, when no invasion had ever been authorized, and was not in the cards.
Carrington continues, p. 16, “The monstrous truth is that the timing of
the Okinawa campaign was exclusively related to the early August
timetable of the atomic bomb. J’accuse! I accuse Presidents Franklin
Roosevelt and Harry Truman of deliberately committing war crimes against
the American people for the sole purpose of helping set the stage for
the criminally unnecessary use of atomic weapons on Japan.”

Carrington further quotes Admiral Leahy, from I Was There, “It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagaski was of no material assistance in our war against
Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because
of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with
conventional weapons.”

Carrington concludes, p.22, “Truman’s wanton use of atomic weapons left the American people feeling dramatically less secure after winning World War II than they had ever felt before, and these
feelings of insecurity have been exploited by unscrupulous Cold War
Machine Politicians ever since.” As Senator Vandenberg said, “We have to
scare the hell out of ‘em” in order to browbeat the American people
into paying heavy taxes to support the Cold War.

DID THE ATOMIC BOMB WIN THE WAR AGAINST JAPAN?

Admiral William Leahy also stated in I Was There, “My own feeling is that being the first to use it (the atomic bomb) we had adopted an ethical standard common to the Barbarism of the Dark Ages. I
was not taught to make war in that fashion, and wars cannot be won by
destroying women and children.”

Gar Alperowitz notes, p. 16, “On May 5, May 12 and June 7, the Office of Strategic Services (our intelligence operation), reported Japan was considering capitulation. Further messages came on
May 18, July 7, July 13 and July 16.”

Alperowitz points out, p.36, “The standing United States demand for ‘unconditional surrender’ directly threatened not only the person of the Emperor but such central tenets of Japanese culture
as well.”

Alperowitz also quotes General Curtis LeMay, chief of the Air Forces, p.334, “The war would have been over in two weeks without the Russians entering and without the atomic bomb. PRESS
INQUIRY: You mean that, sir? Without the Russians and without the atomic
bomb? LeMay: The atomic bomb had nothing to do with the end of the war
at all.” September 29, 1945, statement.

THE NAGASAKI BOMB

When the Air Force dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki, with William Laurence riding in the co-pilot’s seat of the B-29, pretending to be Dr. Strangelove, here again the principal target
was a Catholic church. P.93, The Fall Of Japan, by William Craig, Dial,
NY, 1967, “the roof and masonry of the Catholic cathedral fell on the
kneeling worshippers. All of them died.” This church has now been
rebuilt, and is a prominent feature of the Nagasaki tour.

After the terror bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the victorious Allies moved promptly to try Japanese officials for their “war crimes”. From 1945-51 several thousand Japanese military men were
found guilty of war crimes by an International Military Tribunal which
met in Tokyo from 1946 to 1948. Twenty-eight Japanese military and
civilian leaders were accused of having engaged in conspiracy to commit
atrocities. The dissenting member of the Tokyo tribunal, Judge
Radhabinod of India, dismissed the charge that Japanese leaders had
conspired to commit atrocities, stating that a stronger case might be
made against the victors, because the decision to use the atomic bomb
resulted in indiscriminate
murder.

A very popular movie in Japan today is Pride, The Fateful Moment, which shows Prime Minister General Hideki Tojo in a favorable light. With six others, he was hanged in 1968 as a war
criminal. During his trial, his lawyers stated to the International
Tribunal for the Far East, the Asian version of Nuremberg Trials, that
Tojo’s war crimes could not begin to approach the dropping of the atomic
bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The prosecutors immediately objected,
and censored their statements. That was the last time there was any
official recognition of the atomic bomb massacres in Japan. Japanese
officials have been effectively prevented from taking any stand on this
matter because the American military occupation, which
officially ended in 1952 with the Treaty with Japan, was quietly
continued. Today, 49,000 American troops are still stationed in Japan,
and there is no public discussion of the crimes of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki.

AMERICAN MILITARY AUTHORITIES SAY ATOMIC BOMB UNNECESSARY

The most authoritative Air Force unit during World War II was the U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey, which selected targets on the basis of need, and which analyzed the results for future missions. In
Hiroshima’s Shadow, the U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey report of July 1,
1946 states, “The Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombs did not defeat
Japan, nor by the testimony of the enemy leaders who ended the war did
they persuade Japan to accept unconditional surrender. The Emperor, the
lord privy seal, the prime minister, the foreign minister, and the navy
minister had decided as early as May 1945 that the war should be ended
even if it meant acceptance of defeat on allied terms…. It is the
Survey’s opinion that certainly
prior to December 1, 1945 and in all probability prior to November 1,
1945, Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been
dropped and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated.”

Both military, political and religious leaders spoke out against the atomic bombing of Japanese civilians. The Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America issued a formal statement
in March 1946 (cited by Gar Alperowitz):

“The surprise bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki are morally indefensible. Both bombings must be judged to have been unnecessary for winning the war. As the power that first used the atomic
bomb under these circumstances, we have sinned grievously against the
laws of God and against the people of Japan.”-Commission on the Relation
of the Church to the War in the Light of the Christian Faith.

On p.438, Gar Alperowitz quotes James M. Gillis, editor of Catholic World, “I would call it a crime were it not that the word ‘crime’ implies sin, and sin requires a consciousness of guilt. The
action taken by the Untied States government was in defiance of every
sentiment and every conviction upon which our civilization is based.”

One of the most vociferous critics of the atomic bombings was David Lawrence, founder and editor of U.S. News and World Report. He signed a number of stinging editorials, the first on August
17, 1945.

“Military necessity will be our constant cry in answer to criticism, but it will never erase from our minds the simple truth, that we, of all civilized nations, though hesitating to use poison gas,
did not hesitate to employ the most destructive weapon of all times
indiscriminately against men, women and children.” On October 5,
Lawrence continued his attack, “The United States should be the first to
condemn the atomic bomb and apologize for its use against Japan.
Spokesmen for the Army Air Forces said it wasn’t necessary and that the
war had been won already. Competent testimony exists to prove
that Japan was seeking to surrender many weeks before the atomic bomb
came.” On November 23, Lawrence wrote, “The truth is we are guilty. Our
conscience as a nation must trouble us. We must confess our sin. We have
used a horrible weapon to asphyxiate and cremate more than 100,000 men,
women and children in a sort of super-lethal gas chamber- and all this
in a war already won or which spokesman for our Air Forces tell us we
could have readily won without the atomic bomb. We ought, therefore, to
apologize in unequivocal terms at once to the whole world for our misuse
of the atomic bomb.”

David Lawrence was an avowed conservative, a successful businessman, who knew eleven presidents of the United States intimately, and was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Richard M.
Nixon, April 22, 1970.

ANOTHER EISENHOWER SPEAKS

Although Eisenhower never changed his opinion of the use of the atomic bomb, during his presidency he repeatedly voiced his opinion, as quoted by Steve Neal, The Eisenhowers Doubleday, 1978.
P.225, “Ike would never lose his scepticism of the weapon and later
referred to it as a ‘hellish contrivance’.”

His brother, Milton Eisenhower, a prominent educator, was even more vocal on this subject. As quoted by Gar Alperwitz, p.358, Milton Eisenhower said, “Our employment of this new force at Hiroshima
and Nagasaki was a supreme provocation to other nations, especially the
Soviet Union. Moreover, its use violated the normal standards of warfare
by wiping out entire populations, mostly civilians, in the target
cities. Certainly what happened at Hiroshima and Nagasaki will forever
be on the conscience of the American people.”

During his Presidency, Dwight Eisenhower tried to find peaceful uses for atomic energy. In The Eisenhower Diaries, p.261, we find that “The phrase ‘atoms for peace’ entered the lexicon of
international affairs with a speech by Eisenhower before the United
Nations December 8, 1953.” Control of atomic energy had now given the
New World Order clique enormous power, and Eisenhower, in his farewell
speech to the American people on leaving the Presidency In Review
(Doubleday, 1969), on January 17, 1961, warned, “In the councils of
government we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted
influence, whether sought or unsought, by the miliary-industrial
complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced
power exists and will persist.”

By failing to name the power behind the military-industrial complex, the international bankers, Eisenhower left the American people in the dark as to he was actually warning them
against. To this day they do not understand what he was trying to say,
that the international bankers, the Zionists and the Freemasons had
formed an unholy alliance whose money and power could not be overcome by
righteous citizens of the United States.

MACARTHUR’S WARNING

General Douglas MacArthur also tried to warn the American people of this threat, as quoted in American Ceaser, by William Manchester, Little Brown, 1978, p.692, “In 1957, he lashed out at large
Pentagon budgets. ‘Our government has kept us in a perpetual state of
fear-kept us in a continuous stampede of patriotic fervor-with the cry
of grave national emergency. Always there has been some terrible evil to
gobble us up if we did not blindly rally behind it by furnishing the
exorbitant funds demanded. Yet, in retrospect, these disasters seem
never to have happened, seem never to have been quite real.”

This was the restatement of Senator Vandenberg’s famous comment, “We have to scare the hell out of ‘em.”

THE NEW ATOMIC AGE

The scientists who had built the atomic bomb were gleeful when they received the news of its success at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In the book, Robert Oppenheimer, Dark Prince, by Jack Rummel,
1992, we find, p.96, “Back in the United States the news of the bombing
of Hiroshima was greeted with a mixture of relief, pride, joy, shock and
sadness. Otto Frisch remembers the shouts of joy, ‘Hiroshima has been
destroyed!’ ‘Many of my friends were rushing to the telephone to book
tables at the La Fonda Hotel in Santa Fe in order to celebrate.
Oppenheimer walked around “like a prizefighter, clasping his hands
together above his head as he came to the podium”.’”

Oppenheimer had been a lifelong Communist. “He was heavily influenced by Soviet Communism “: A New Civilization, by Sidney and Beatrice Webb, the founders of Fabian Socialism in England. He
became director of research at the newly formed U.S. Atomic Energy
Commission, with his mentor, Bernard Baruch, serving as chairman.
Oppenheimer continued his many Communist Party Associations; his wife
was Kitty Peuning, widow of Joe Dallet, an American Communist who had
been killed defending Communism with the notorious Lincoln Brigade in
Spain. Because Oppenheimer was under Party discipline, the Party then
ordered him to marry Kitty Peuning and make a home for her.

Baruch resigned from the Atomic Energy Commission to attend to his business interests. He was replaced by Lewis Lichtenstein Strauss, of Kuhn, Loeb Co. Strauss was apprised of Oppenheimer’s many
Communist associations, but he decided to overlook them until he found
that Oppenheimer was sabotaging progress on developing the new and much
more destructive hydrogen bomb. It seemed apparent that Oppenheimer was
delaying the hydrogen bomb until the Soviet Union could get its own
version on line. Furious at the betrayal, he asked Oppenheimer to resign
as director of the Commission. Oppenheimer refused. Strauss then
ordered that he be tried. A hearing was held from April 5 to May 6,
1954. After reviewing the results, the Atomic
Energy Commission voted to strip Oppenheimer of his security clearance,
ruling that he “possessed substantial defects of character and
imprudent dangerous associations with known subversives”.

Oppenheimer retired to Princeton, where his mentor, Albert Einstein, presided over the Institute for Advanced Study, a think tank for refugee “geniuses”, financed by the Rothschilds through one of
their many secret foundations. Oppenheimer was already a trustee of the
Institute, were he remained until his death in 1966.

THE REBIRTH OF ISRAEL

Einstein considered the atomic age merely as a stage for the rebirth of Israel. On p.760 of Einstein; His Life And Times we find that Abba Eban, the Israeli Ambassador, came to his home with the
Israeli consul, Reuben Dafni. He later wrote, “Professor Einstein told
me that he saw the rebirth of Israel as one of the few political acts in
his lifetime which had an essential moral quality. He believed that the
conscience of the world should, therefore, be involved in Israel’s
preservation.” by Ronald W. Clarke, Avon Books 1971.

On March 1, 1946, Army Air Force Contract No. MX-791 was signed, creating the RAND Corporation as an official think tank, defining Project RAND as “a continuing program of scientific study and
research on the broad subject of air warfare with the object of
recommending to the Air Force preferred methods of techniques and
instrumentalities for this purpose.” On May 14, 1948, RAND Corporation
funding was taken over by H. Rowan Gaither, head of the Ford Foundation.
This was done because the Air Force had sole control of the atomic
bomb, RAND Corp. developed the Air Force and atomic bomb program for the
Cold War, with the Strategic Air Command, the missile program, and many
other elements of the “terror strategy”. It
became a billion dollar game for these scientists, with John von
Neumann, their leading scientist, becoming world famous as the inventor
of “game theory”, in which the United States and the Soviet Union
engaged in a worldwide “game” to see which would be the first to attack
the other with nuclear missiles. In the United States, the schools held
daily bomb drills, with the children hiding under their desks. No one
told them that thousands of schools children in Hiroshima had been
incinerated in their classrooms; the desks offered no protection against
nuclear weapons. The moral effect on the children was devastating. If
they were to be vaporized in the next ten seconds, there seemed little
reason to study, marry and have children, or prepare for a steady job.
This demoralization through the nuclear weapons program is the
undisclosed reason for the decline in public morality.

In 1987, Phyllis LaFarge published The Strangelove Legacy, The Impact Of The Nuclear Threat On Children, chronicling through extended research the moral devastation wreaked on the children
by the daily threat of annihilation. She quotes Freeman Dyson, who
stated the world has been divided into two worlds, the world of the
warriors, and the world of the victims, the children. It was William L.
Laurence, sitting in the co-pilot’s seat of a B-29 over Nagasaki, and
the children waiting to be vaporized below. This situation has not
changed.

THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF NUCLEAR WARFARE

Because Japan was occupied by the U.S. Military in 1945, the Japanese Government was never allowed any opportunity to file any legal charges about the use of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and
Nagasaki. Although Japanese leaders were tried and executed for “war
crimes” no one was ever charged for the atomic bombings. It was not
until 1996 that the World Court delivered an opinion on the use of
nuclear weapons, (p.565, Hiroshima’s Shadows) “In July 1996, the World
court took a stand in its first formal opinion on the legality of
nuclear weapons. Two years earlier, the United Nations had asked the
Court for an advisory opinion. The General Assembly of the United
Nations posed a single, yet profoundly basic, question
for consideration. It the threat of use of nuclear weapons on any
circumstances permitted under international law? For the first time, the
world’s pre-eminent judicial authority has considered the question of
criminality vis-a-vis the use of a nuclear weapon, and, in doing so, it
has come to the conclusion that the use of a nuclear weapon is
‘unlawful’. It is also the Court’s view that even the threat of the use
of a nuclear weapon is illegal. Although there were differences
concerning the implications of the right of self-defense provided by
Article 51 of the U.N. Charter, ten of the fourteen judges hearing the
case found the use of threat to use a nuclear weapon to be illegal on
the basis of the existing canon of humanitarian law which governs the
conduct of armed conflict. The judges based their opinion on more than a
century of treatise and conventions that are collectively known as the
‘Hague’ and ‘Geneva’
laws.”

Thus the Court ruled that nuclear weapons are illegal under the Hague and Geneva conventions , agreements which were in existence at the time of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. They were
illegal then, and they are illegal now.

GANDHI SPEAKS

Among world leaders who spoke out about the United States’ use of atomic weapons in Japan, Mahatma Gandhi echoed the general climate of opinion. P.258, Hiroshima’s Shadow: “The atomic bomb
has deadened the finest feelings which have sustained mankind for ages.
There used to be so-called laws of war which made it tolerable. Now we
understand the naked truth. War knows no law except that of might. The
atomic bomb brought an empty victory to the Allied armies. It has
resulted for the time being in the soul of Japan being destroyed. What
has happened to the soul of the destroying nation is yet too early to
see. Truth needs to be repeated as long as there are men who do not
believe it.”

THE COURT OF INTERNATIONAL JUSTICE

Eustace C. Mullins, Ezra Pound World Peace Foundation Japanese-American

Friendship Society and the People of Japan,

Plaintiffs,

The United States Government, Defendant.

The plaintiffs bring this action before the World Court of International Justice to resolve the following charges:

1. Defendant conspired to commit war crimes against the people of Japan during World War II.

2. Defendant conspired to commit atrocities against the people of Japan during World War II.

3. Defendant conspired to subsequently evade and cover up these crimes by militarily occupying the nation of Japan, effectively preventing the people of Japan from seeking legal recourse
for the actions of defendant. Defendant continues to militarily occupy
Japan today, with 49,999 troops stationed there, on the pretext that the
Soviet Union might attack. This pretext ignores the geopolitical fact
that the Soviet Union collapsed in 1989 and does not pose a threat to
anyone.

4. Defendant conspired to commit crimes of genocide against the people of Japan, motivated by racial hatred and religious bigotry.

5. Defendant violated the Hague agreements and the Geneva Convention, as determined by the World Court in June 1996, by making war against civilians and inflicting millions of casualties by
firebombing Japanese cities and the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki during World War II.

6. After committing these crimes, defendant conspired to cover up these crimes by issuing a number of false statements, denying war crimes, and distortions of fact to evade any punishment for
these war crimes.

7. Defendant also conspired to conceal from the American people the circumstances behind the commission of these war crimes, that a small group of conspirators, refugees from Europe, came
to the United States and infiltrated the government of the United
States, and in total secrecy launched the project to manufacture an
atomic bomb for use against Germany and Japan. At no time during this
conspiracy were the people of the United States aware of what was taking
place, nor consulted for their approval, in violation of
republican’principle s and the Constitution of the United States.

8. Since World War II, defendant has conducted a worldwide program of atomic terrorism, called atomic diplomacy, to ensure that its program continues unabated, and without punishment.

9. Although Japan had been reduced to ashes by June 1945, defendant insisted that an invasion was necessary, while ignoring peace tenders from Japan since May 1945, and defendant further claimed
that the American military would suffer one million war dead while
invading Japan, and that it was necessary to drop the atomic bombs on
Hiroshima, August 6, 1945, and Nagasaki, August 9, 1945. In fact, as
Admiral William D. Leahy pointed out in his book, I Was There, “the
invasion itself was never authorized.” General Dwight D. Eisenhower,
Supreme Military Commander, Admiral William D. Leahy, Air force General
Curtis LeMay, and many other American military leaders, made public
statements that it was not necessary to drop the
atomic bombs. Political considerations dictated that it be dropped on
Japan, in order to test it on a living population, and, if possible, to
“tally” a million or more victims with the bombs, for the purpose of
postwar intimidation of all other nations.

10. The atomic bomb was the creation of a small group of European refugees, whose efforts to develop such a bomb in Europe had been indignantly rejected. Albert Einstein, the physicist, wrote a
personal letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt, August 2, 1939,
recommending that this bomb be built by the United States. His letter
was hand-delivered to Roosevelt by Alexander Sachs, a Wall Street
speculator. The atomic bomb program was directed from behind the scenes
by another Wall Street speculator, Bernard Baruch, an agent of the
Rothschilds. Baruch selected Major General Leslie Groves as the director
of the project, and J. Robert Oppenheimer as science director of the
program. Baruch continued to issue directives
throughout the program, insisting to Major General Groves that the city
of Kyoto be the primary target of the atomic bombs. Military leaders
opposed this selection, pointing out that Kyoto was the ancient capital
of Japan, and a religious center with more than two hundred ancient
temples. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were finally chosen, although neither of
these cities offered a primary military target. Baruch continued to
dictate decisions on the atomic bomb, through the President’s National
Defense Research Committee, chaired by Baruch’s Washington
representative, James F. Byrnes.

11. After the devastation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, defendant perpetrated a number of outright falsehoods to avoid blame for these massacres of civilians. The first was that the inhabitants were
warned by leaflets dropped over the city that an atomic bomb would be
used. In fact, the leaflets were not dropped until August 10, after the
bombs had exploded. The President’s Committee had resolved on May 31,
1945 that “we could not give the Japanese any warning.” The second
falsehood was that an invasion of Japan would be necessary if the atomic
bomb was not used; this would cost a million American lives. Many
leading American military authorities state this is absolutely false.
The third falsehood was that both cities
were “key military targets”. President Truman boasted in his private
papers that “in 1945 I had ordered the atomic bomb dropped on Japan at
two places devoted almost exclusively to war production.”

In fact, more than 95% of the dead at Hiroshima and Nagasaki were civilians. Only 4.4% of the death toll was made up of military personnel. A fourth falsehood, printed in the New York Times
September 5, 1945, was that the victims had suffered no radiation
damage. This story was written by William L. Laurence, the paid
propagandist for the War Department with exclusive rights to material on
the atomic bomb. Laurence quoted Major General Groves that the Japanese
“are attempting to create sympathy for themselves”.

12. The Legation of Switzerland in Tokyo forwarded to the defendant a statement from the Japanese government, the complaint that “the city of Hiroshima is a provincial town without any protection
or military installations of any kind, but also none of the neighboring
regions or towns constitutes a military objective.” Observers on the
scene recorded that “strictly military damage was insignificant.”

13. The most authoritative official United States unit during World War II was the U.S. Strategic Bombing Survey, which selected targets and analyzed the results of the bombings for the
benefit of future missions. Their report of July 1, 1946 states, “the
Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs did not defeat Japan, nor by the testimony
of the enemy leaders who ended the war did they persuade Japan to accept
unconditional surrender. The Emperor, the lord privy seal, the prime
minister, the foreign minister, and the navy minister had decided as
early as May 1945 that the war should be ended even if it meant
acceptance of defeat on allied terms… It is the Survey’s opinion that
certainly prior to December 1, 1945, and in all
probability prior to November 1, 1945, Japan would have surrendered
even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped and even if no invasion
had been planned or contemplated.”

14. This proves that the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were war crimes deliberately committed, with foreknowledge that it was not necessary to drop the atomic bombs on these two cities. As
David Lawrence, founder and editor of U.S. News And World Report, wrote
in his editorial November 23, 1945, “the truth is we are guilty. Our
conscience as a nation must trouble us. We must confess our sin. We have
used a horrible weapon to asphyxiate and cremate more than 100,000 men,
women and children in a sort of super-lethal gas chamber–and all this
in a war already won or which spokesman for our Air Forces tell us we
could have readily won without the atomic bomb.”

15. The world leader and pacifist Mahatma Gandhi spoke sadly about the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. “The atomic bomb has deadened the finest feelings which have sustained mankind for ages.
There used to be so-called laws of war which made it tolerable. Now we
understand the naked truth. War knows no law except that of might. The
atomic bomb brought an empty victory to the Allied armies. It has
resulted for the time being in the soul of Japan being destroyed. What
has happened to the soul of the destroying nation is yet too early to
see.”

16. Defendant is in violation of the Geneva Convention. Protocol 2, Scope of Application of Humanitarian Law, states: 1. “International humanitarian law is applicable to
international armed conflicts. The international law of peace existing
between the states concerned will thus be large superseded by the rules
of international humanitarian law…. A state can not, therefore, be
allowed to invoke military necessity as a justification for upsetting
that balance by departing from those rules.”

17. IV. Humanitarian Requirements and Military Necessity. “In war, a belligerent many apply only that amount and kind of force necessary to defeat the enemy. Acts of war are only permissible
if they are directed against military objectives, if they are not
likely to cause unnecessary suffering, and if they are not perfidious.”
The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki clearly falls outside the scope of
this ruling, being civilian targets, the bombing caused unnecessary
suffering, and defendant’s attempted justification was openly
perfidious.

18. 129. If an act of war is not expressly prohibited by international agreements or customary law, this does not necessarily mean that it is actually permissible. The so-called Martens Clause,
developed by the Livonian professor Friedrich von Martens (1845-1909)
delegate of Tsar Nicholas II at the Hague Peace Conferences, which has
been included in the Preamble to the 1907 Hague Convention IV and
reaffirmed in the 1977 Additional Protocal I as stated below, will
always be applicable. In cases not covered by the Protocol or by other
international agreement, civilians and combatants remain under the
protection and authority of the principles of international law derived
from established custom, from the principles of
humanity, and from the dictates of public conscience. (Artl., pars. 2
AP 1; see also Preamble pars. 4 AP II)

19. Protocol I-Part IV. Section i. “….the obligation of the Parties to the conflict to ‘at all times distinguish between the civilian population and combatants’.” Article 48-Basic rule, “the
prohibition of ‘indiscriminate attacks’.” Article 51-Protection of the
civilian population, paragraph 4, in particular “an attack by
bombardment by any method or means which treats as a single military
objective a number of clearly separated and distinct military
objectives, located in a city, town, village or other area containing a
similar concentration of civilians or civilian objects” (Article
51-Protection of the civilian population paragraph 5 (a) and “an attack
which may be expected to cause incidental
loss of civilian life, injury to civilians, damage to civilian objects,
or a combination thereof, which would be excessive in relation to the
concrete and direct military advantage anticipated (article
51-Protection of the civilian population, paragraph 5 [b]).

20. Protocal I-Part IV, Section 1. “Protection of civilians from arbitrary and oppressive enemy action, outlined in 1899, and later in 1907, was expressed in its most complete form in the Fourth
Geneva Convention of 1949, which is now supplemented by this Protocol.

WHEREFORE, the plaintiffs respectfully move this Court to hear these charges of conspiracy to commit war crimes and atrocities, conspiracy to cover up their crimes, motivated by racial
hatred and religious bigotry, and having intimidated the government of
Japan and prevented them from seeking any redress for these crimes, and
by defendant’s ongoing program of atomic terrorism, perfidious
falsehoods, and their continuing conspiracy to cover up crimes of
genocide, mass murder and undue suffering among their victims, and that
the Court shall hear these charges, decide upon appropriate damages, and
punishment for the offenders.

Respectfully submitted,

Eustace C. Mullins

hi Pono,

I was on the Pearl Harbor Court Case years ago…….the claim to Pearl Harbor by the U.S. is based on a FRAUD Deed………King Kalakaua deeded land to two deceased ancestors who died 8-9 years before the deed was made!….pointed it out in court……the Judge Chang was rewarded with a Federal Court Judge position……Fraud was pointed out, therefore, Fraud is recorded…..the U.S. feared the Japanese well before the dethronement of our Queen in 1893. It was prior to the 1878 Pacific Cable Company investors group supported the laying of the cables…..it was funded by American bankers and sugar planters who obtained loans on their LEASE lands……….the Americans feared the Japanese would enter San Francisco Bay area and it would take more than 10 years to get them out, so they needed a strategic area so that their people could inform them that the Japanese were coming……

It’s downright WICKED that OHA/Office of Hawaiian Affairs are funding monies for Pearl Harbor, utterly WICKED!…..all nations should see the documents/evidence……there’s lot, also the 1878 period is where everyone can see that CHARLES REED BISHOP was truly a treasonous, conspirator and truly a PIRATE OF THE PACIFIC as well…..

aloha.

Mahalo my love, if you read this piece of work one would understand the opposing view point on the Military asking for a License to posses Depleted Uranium and the use of it on our children here in Makua-Waianae for we are their experiment for weak, low and safe DU, a hell of a way to die.

I’ve run out of time to unlock the minds of Na Kanaka, I don’t have the strength in me to battle the fact that there no chance in hell that the military will clean up their mess after they use DU in live exercise in Makua and Schofield. Another Major will come along and pretend to have a loss of memory when it comes to the first people and their culture values.

Obama needs to put that pen on that sheet of paper regardless of what the Rothchilds necessity are, I don’t care about capitalism up or down at this point–he needs to put ink as in signature on that treaty on April 10, 2010 or the 8th!

$54 billion dollars for nuclear development seems an unnoticed figure but it is real and working in the minds of contractual corporate minds. And mainstream media just won’t tell the joke of the year, that congress should tax revenues to support the cause and effect of a dangerous and hellish budget for the sake of comfort and their freedom.

Hawaii is just a little island that is a target for other nations to take willy nilly shots at for the sake of human nature and man’s righteous game theory by creed. Not sure anymore, thanks for the posting, I just wish others have a chance to read the whole thing and take a position against the nuclear deployment. Love you

NOAA is just an arm of the U.S. military and its mandate is no different
than the military and that mandate is; to take control of all lands and

The Samoan chief who chopped the ear off the NOAA officials head
was just protecting his Konohiki rights. He was just making a very
important cultural statement to Americans and that statement was;

ancestoral lands by using a fence to keep my Hawaian ancestors who held
the legal title off.
Like the Samoan chief I will not submitt to American land theft.
I am in the process of claiming my lands, natural resources and
cultural rights and I refuse to see Kailua turn into an urbanized zoo for
tourists. Kaneohe Ranch never had title to their lands and they never will
but they continue to sell stolen property. Buyers beware! Kaneohe Ranch
has no title to the lands that they occupy. All land title in Kailua and
Kaneohe is clouded and all lease and sales contractual agreements
historically instigated by the Ranch are null and void and illegal.
Unlike the Samoan chief who used force to claim his lands I’m using

Confirmed: Obama Authorizes Assassination of U.S. Citizen

By Glenn Greenwald

April 08, 2010 “http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/04/07/assassinations” April 07, 2010 — In late January, I wrote about the Obama administration’s “presidential assassination program,” whereby American citizens are targeted for killings far away from any battlefield, based exclusively on unchecked accusations by the Executive Branch that they’re involved in Terrorism. At the time, The Washington Post’s Dana Priest had noted deep in a long article that Obama had continued Bush’s policy (which Bush never actually implemented) of having the Joint Chiefs of Staff compile “hit lists” of Americans, and Priest suggested that the American-born Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki was on that list. The following week, Obama’s Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Dennis Blair, acknowledged in Congressional testimony that the administration reserves the “right” to carry out such assassinations.

Today, both The New York Times and The Washington Post confirm that the Obama White House has now expressly authorized the CIA to kill al-Alwaki no matter where he is found, no matter his distance from a battlefield. I wrote at length about the extreme dangers and lawlessness of allowing the Executive Branch the power to murder U.S. citizens far away from a battlefield (i.e., while they’re sleeping, at home, with their children, etc.) and with no due process of any kind. I won’t repeat those arguments — they’re here and here — but I do want to highlight how unbelievably Orwellian and tyrannical this is in light of these new articles today.

Just consider how the NYT reports on Obama’s assassination order and how it is justified:

The Obama administration has taken the extraordinary step of authorizing the targeted killing of an American citizen, the radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who is believed to have shifted from encouraging attacks on the United States to directly participating in them, intelligence and counterterrorism officials said Tuesday. . . .

American counterterrorism officials say Mr. Awlaki is an operative of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the affiliate of the terror network in Yemen and Saudi Arabia. They say they believe that he has become a recruiter for the terrorist network, feeding prospects into plots aimed at the United States and at Americans abroad, the officials said.

It is extremely rare, if not unprecedented, for an American to be approved for targeted killing, officials said. A former senior legal official in the administration of George W. Bush said he did not know of any American who was approved for targeted killing under the former president. . . .

“The danger Awlaki poses to this country is no longer confined to words,” said an American official, who like other current and former officials interviewed for this article spoke of the classified counterterrorism measures on the condition of anonymity. “He’s gotten involved in plots.”

No due process is accorded. No charges or trials are necessary. No evidence is offered, nor any opportunity for him to deny these accusations (which he has done vehemently through his family). None of that.

Instead, in Barack Obama’s America, the way guilt is determined for American citizens — and a death penalty imposed — is that the President, like the King he thinks he is, secretly decrees someone’s guilt as a Terrorist. He then dispatches his aides to run to America’s newspapers — cowardly hiding behind the shield of anonymity which they’re granted — to proclaim that the Guilty One shall be killed on sight because the Leader has decreed him to be a Terrorist. It is simply asserted that Awlaki has converted from a cleric who expresses anti-American views and advocates attacks on American military targets (advocacy which happens to be Constitutionally protected) to Actual Terrorist “involved in plots.” These newspapers then print this Executive Verdict with no questioning, no opposition, no investigation, no refutation as to its truth. And the punishment is thus decreed: this American citizen will now be murdered by the CIA because Barack Obama has ordered that it be done. What kind of person could possibly justify this or think that this is a legitimate government power?

Just to get a sense for how extreme this behavior is, consider — as the NYT reported — that not even George Bush targeted American citizens for this type of extra-judicial killing (though a 2002 drone attack in Yemen did result in the death of an American citizen). Even more strikingly, Antonin Scalia, in the 2004 case of Hamdi v. Rumsfeld, wrote an Opinion (joined by Justice Stevens) arguing that it was unconstitutional for the U.S. Government merely to imprison (let alone kill) American citizens as “enemy combatants”; instead, they argued, the Constitution required that Americans be charged with crimes (such as treason) and be given a trial before being punished. The full Hamdi Court held that at least some due process was required before Americans could be imprisoned as “enemy combatants.” Yet now, Barack Obama is claiming the right not merely to imprison, but to assassinate far from any battlefield, American citizens with no due process of any kind. Even GOP Congressman Pete Hoekstra, when questioning Adm. Blair, recognized the severe dangers raised by this asserted power.

And what about all the progressives who screamed for years about the Bush administration’s tyrannical treatment of Jose Padilla? Bush merely imprisoned Padilla for years without a trial. If that’s a vicious, tyrannical assault on the Constitution — and it was — what should they be saying about the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s assassination of American citizens without any due process?

All of this underscores the principal point made in this excellent new article by Eli Lake, who compellingly and comprehensively documents what readers here well know: that while Obama’s “speeches and some of his administration’s policy rollouts have emphasized a break from the Bush era,” the reality is that the administration has retained and, in some cases, built upon the core Bush/Cheney approach to civil liberties and Terrorism. As Al Gore asked in his superb 2006 speech protesting Bush’s “War on the Constitution”:

Can it be true that any president really has such powers under our Constitution?

If the answer is yes, then under the theory by which these acts are committed, are there any acts that can on their face be prohibited?

If the president has the inherent authority to eavesdrop on American citizens without a warrant, imprison American citizens on his own declaration, kidnap and torture, then what can’t he do?

Notice the power that was missing from Gore’s indictment of Bush radicalism: the power to kill American citizens. Add that to the litany — as Obama has now done — and consider how much more compelling Gore’s accusatory questions become.

UPDATE: When Obama was seeking the Democratic nomination, the Constitutional Law Scholar answered a questionnaire about executive power distributed by The Boston Globe’s Charlie Savage, and this was one of his answers:

5. Does the Constitution permit a president to detain US citizens without charges as unlawful enemy combatants?

[Obama]: No. I reject the Bush Administration’s claim that the President has plenary authority under the Constitution to detain U.S. citizens without charges as unlawful enemy combatants.

So back then, Obama said the President lacks the power merely to detain U.S. citizens without charges. Now, as President, he claims the power to assassinate them without charges. Could even his hardest-core loyalists try to reconcile that with a straight face? As Spencer Ackerman documents today, not even John Yoo claimed that the President possessed the power Obama is claiming here.

UPDATE II: If you’re going to go into the comment section — or anywhere else — and argue that this is all justified because Awlaki is an Evil, Violent, Murdering Terrorist Trying to Kill Americans, you should say how you know that. Generally, guilt is determined by having a trial where the evidence is presented and the accused has an opportunity to defend himself — not by putting blind authoritarian faith in the unchecked accusations of government leaders, even if it happens to be Barack Obama. That’s especially true given how many times accusations of Terrorism by the U.S. Government have proven to be false.

UPDATE III: Congratulations, Barack Obama: you’re now to the Right of National Review on issues of executive power and due process, as Kevin Williamson objects: “Surely there has to be some operational constraint on the executive when it comes to the killing of U.S. citizens. . . . Odious as Awlaki is, this seems to me to be setting an awful and reckless precedent. ” But Andy McCarthy — who is about the most crazed Far Right extremist on such matters as it gets, literally — is as pleased as can be with what Obama is doing (or, as Gawker puts it, “Obama Does Something Bloodthirsty Enough to Please the Psychos”).

The US has progressed from kidnapping to torture (even of children) to murder of ‘enemies’ and now to murder of Americans it considers enemies. This kind of progression is relentless, and it won’t be long before this or some other President decides that dissent on American soil is punishable by murder.

That a constitutional lawyer (and teacher) would adopt the position Obama has is almost as incomprehensible as his refusal to investigate the crimes of the Bush administration or 9/11. America can’t survive that kind of lawlessness.

“Can it be true that any president really has such powers under our Constitution?

If the answer is yes, then under the theory by which these acts are committed, are there any acts that can on their face be prohibited? ”

These excellent questions were answered by Caligula 2000 years ago: “For me, all things are legal.”

Obama’s powers are unlimited, and he should be worshiped as a living physical god.

One wonders if the nyt would be so turned on about ex-judiciary murder if it was to be used against a Jewish-american aipac official engaged in supporting al ciada? Remember that urban moving company tasked with documenting mossad’s 9/11 work? I’m sure there’s a few aipac sayanim who were lending support to their operation. There usually is.

Decent piece from Greenwald.

Interesting, and dangerous, discrepancy:

Terms such as “global war on terror”, “Islamic radicalism”, “islamic extremism”, and other such terms that might be perceived as placing the US position regarding this ongoing war in a negative light, have officially been declared “off-limits”, by the Obama Administration. Yet at the same time, this same President, skirting all his polite re-tooling of words to make the war and the perception of the US position more appealing — has now approved assassination — with no trial and with no Constitutionally-protected (but now-vaporized) rights of the accused — of American citizens.

The guy that he wants assassinated may indeed be the personification of evil. But he’s an American citizen too. Doesn’t the US Constitution have any thing to say anymore about protecting the rights of American citizens?

If this President can order the assiassination of THAT American citizen, then what is to stop this President — or any future President — from ordering the assassination of ANY American citizen?

Overthrow Inc.: Peter Ackerman’s quest to do what the CIA used to do, and make it seem progressive
Posted in Color Revolutions, Democracy Manipulation, Foundation Left, Foundations, Imperialism, Moderate Left, National Endowment for Democracy, Non-Violent Direct Action by gowans on August 6, 2009

“When some of State’s desk officers don’t want to create international incidents by advising activists on how to overthrow governments, they gently suggest visiting Ackerman, who has fewer qualms about lending a helping hand.” [1a]

“Gene Sharp [is] the author of a series of books on nonviolent conflict who is generally credited with being the first person to study rigorously the techniques of mass civil disobedience and place them in the context of traditional military strategy.” [1b]

Interviewer: (Some people say) a government cannot fund or sponsor the overthrow of another government!

Gene Sharp: Why not?…What do they prefer that the U.S. spend money on? [1c]

By Stephen Gowans

Peter Ackerman, an immensely wealthy investor and board member of the premier U.S. foreign policy think-tank, the Council on Foreign Relations, [2] and Robert Helvey, a 30 year veteran of the U.S. Army [3] who served two tours of duty in Vietnam [4], are the principal proponents of a nonviolent alternative to military intervention in the pursuit of U.S. foreign policy goals. Students of Gene Sharp, who developed a theory of how to destabilize governments through nonviolent means, Ackerman and Helvey have been at the head of a kind of Imperialist International, training “a modern type of mercenary,” who travel “the world, often in the pay of the U.S. government or NGOs, in order to train local groups” [5] in regime change. Ackerman and Helvey’s new type of mercenary are practioners of what the CIA used to call destabilization. To escape the taint of its CIA past, destabilization has been rebranded as nonviolent resistance (NVR), shrewdly drawing upon the reputation of Martin Luther King Jr.’s nonviolent struggles for black civil rights in the 1960s. But where King sought to bring about change within the system, and in the United States, NVR is strictly a foreign affair, seeking to overturn governments abroad that operate outside the system of U.S. imperial domination. NVR is not about pursuing social, economic and political justice at home. It’s about taking power overseas, in order to bring resistant countries into the U.S. imperial fold. To make itself appear to be squeaky clean, NVR explicitly rejects overt CIA and U.S. military sponsorship. As Helvey explains, “The easiest way to destroy a movement is for the CIA to taint it.” [6] That, however, doesn’t make NVR any different in its aims and content from the destabilization campaigns the CIA used to plan, sponsor and implement. Indeed, Ackerman and Helvey have simply taken over a CIA function, made it semi-overt, and created the illusion that it’s progressive.

What is it?

Ackerman defines NVR as “the shrewd use of strikes, boycotts, civil disobedience” [7] in addition to mass protests [8] and even nonviolent sabotage, to disrupt the functioning of government [9] and make “a country ungovernable.”[10] Since strikes, boycotts and civil disobedience are traditional leftist techniques, NVR campaigns often garner the support of a large number of left-leaning people. But NVR isn’t holding a demonstration, listening to speakers, and then heading home for supper. Neither is it pressuring elites — what most Western leftists set as the limit of their political activism. It isn’t pacifism based on moral or religious principle, either. Former Harvard researcher Sharp, explains that NVR and principled nonviolence are not the same. Principled nonviolence is “abstention from violence based on ethical or religious beliefs.” NVR is a political technique for overthrowing foreign governments. [11] “It’s not about making a point, it’s about taking power.” [12]

Since the aim of NVR is to take political power abroad, NVR can be characterized as a form of Western warfare, employing nonviolent armies behind enemy lines. In fact, it was Sharp’s analysis of how regime change could be accomplished effectively that drew Helvey, the U.S. Army veteran, to the Clausewitz of nonviolence, as Sharp is known, after the Prussian military strategist, Carl von Clausewitz. [13]

Helvey had been the military attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Rangoon, where he witnessed armed opposition groups repeatedly fail in their attempts to overthrow the Myanmar government. [14] The trouble was that rebel groups were going up against a regular army that could exercise overwhelming force. Sharp’s analysis suggested an alternative. Drawing on social science literature on power, Sharp pointed out that governments have two sources of power: their ability to exact obedience coercively through their control of armies, police, courts and prisons; and their moral authority. Since a government can use overwhelming force to defeat most internal armed challenges, the key to taking power is to undermine the reason most people obey: because they believe their government is legitimate and has a right to rule. In Sharp’s view, most people obey, not because they’re compelled to, but because they want to. If a government’s legitimacy is undermined, people will no longer want to obey. That’s when they can be mobilized to participate in strikes, boycotts, acts of civil disobedience, even sabotage – anything to the make the country ungovernable. “Removing the authority of the ruler,” according to NVR advocates, “is the most important element in nonviolent struggle.” [15]

NVR holds that destabilization works best when the target government is not “supported by an entrenched party system that can claim a higher ideological purpose.” [16] This may explain why destabilizers have attacked the ideological basis of Zimbabwe’s Zanu-PF leadership, suggesting that the party’s leader and Zimbabwe’s president, Robert Mugabe, maintains a “hold on power (that) is…reliant on personal loyalties and their reinforcement by material rewards and mortal penalties,” not commitment to national independence. [17] In regime change discourse, Mugabe is said to have cronies, who he rewards with confiscated farms, to hold on to power. That Mugabe and his principals could be genuinely committed to investing Zimbabwe’s nominal post-colonial independence with real content, is dismissed by NVR promoters as out of the question. The same cynical arguments are used to challenge the moral authority of Cuba’s government. The Castros are accused of being motivated by an unquenchable thirst for power, not an ideological commitment to socialism and national independence. For destabilizers, breeding a cynical view of the leaders of countries in their cross-hairs is a necessary part of undermining their targets’ legitimacy.

To buttress their efforts to undermine the moral authority of target governments, the destabilizers depend critically on the frequent use of the words “dictatorial” (to denote the governments they seek to bring down) and “democratic” (to denote the target government’s opponents.) It doesn’t matter whether the target governments are truly dictatorial or whether their opponents are truly democratic. What matters is that these things are believed to be true. Getting people to believe target governments are dictatorial is done by repeating the charge incessantly, until the idea takes on the status of common knowledge, so widely accepted that proof is unnecessary.

But what if the “dictator” has been elected, as is often the case in destabilization efforts? The destabilizers’ solution is to claim the elected leader came to power illegitimately, by means of electoral fraud. For example, while widely denounced in the West as fraudulent, the recent re-election of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appears not to have been fraudulent at all. No compelling evidence of vote rigging was ever presented, and the only rigorous public opinion poll done in the weeks leading up to the election — sponsored by the Ahmadinejad-hating International Republican Institute — predicted the Iranian president would be re-elected by a handsome margin. Indeed, the poll foresaw Ahmadinejad winning by a greater margin that he actually did win. [18] Still, Western media and their governments’ propaganda apparatuses — Voice of America, Radio Free Liberty and the misnamed “independent” media that serve as fronts for the Western governments that finance them – repeated the opposition charge of electoral fraud over and over. Soon, the mass media and state propaganda apparatuses were singing out as one: the election was rigged.

In Zimbabwe, which for a number of years has been a target of the destabilizers, elections are routinely denounced as fraudulent, even before they’re held. This was true too of Zimbabwe’s last elections, which saw the opposition parties win more seats than the governing party, and the main opposition leader beat the sitting president in the first round of the presidential vote. While this is powerful evidence the elections weren’t rigged, the destabilizers continue to insist the presidential vote was illegitimate. This is so because the main opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, dropped out at the 11th hour. Tsvangirai’s decision appears to have come straight from the destabilizers’ playbook. Had he stayed in the race, he might have lost, and relinquished any possibility of challenging Mugabe’s rule as illegitimate. (He couldn’t credibly say the vote was rigged because he had won the first round.) By dropping out, and blaming his decision on violence perpetrated by Mugabe’s supporters, Tsvangirai could challenge Mugabe’s moral authority to rule. After all, he could say that in the only contested election, he had won.

Likewise, an important part of the destabilizers’ efforts to overthrow Slobodan Milosevic was to declare well before the first vote was cast in the 2000 presidential election that the outcome was a foregone conclusion. Milosevic would win, illegitimately. In fact, Milosevic came second to the main opposition leader, who failed to win more than 50 percent of the vote. With no candidate commanding a clear majority, a run-off election was scheduled. The runoff never happened. Instead, Milosevic was overthrown with the help of forces trained by Helvey [19]…in the name of democracy.

To complement the branding of target governments as dictatorial, opposition forces are branded as democratic. It is no accident that the main opposition party in Serbia, formed under the guidance of U.S. advisers [20], was called the Democratic Opposition of Serbia, or that the main opposition party in Zimbabwe is called the Movement for Democratic Change, or that the main opposition party in Myanmar, Helvey’s pet project, is called the National League of Democracy. Western media reinforce this branding by frequently referring to opposition parties in countries undergoing destabilization as “the democratic opposition,” implying the governments they oppose are dictatorial. This invests the opposition, and its struggle to replace the government, with apparent legitimacy, while undermining the legitimacy of the government under attack. Likewise, the modern nonviolent mercenaries who travel the globe in the pay of the U.S. government and NGOs, are celebrated as “pro-democracy” activists, as are the armies of (typically) youth activists they train. Even some left scholars, out of ignorance or collaboration, refer to these groups as an “independent” democratic left, presumably because they use techniques traditionally associated with the left, though hardly with the same aims.

After absorbing Sharp’s teachings, Helvey became deeply involved in helping the National Council Union of Burma try to destabilize the Myanmar government, not by challenging it militarily, but by undermining its moral authority to govern. He took a detour along the way, to train Serb youth groups on how to destabilize the government of Slobodan Milosevic [21], an event Ackerman would celebrate in a documentary titled (with predictable NVR language distortion) “Bringing Down a Dictator.” With the socialist-leaning Milosevic safely out of the way, and Serbia opening its door to takeover by U.S. investors, Helvey jumped back into organizing the destabilization of Myanmar.

Over a number of years, Helvey’s mercenaries,

“trained an estimated 3,000 fellow Burmese from all walks of life – including several hundred Buddhist monks – in philosophies and strategies of non-violent resistance and community organizing. These workshops, held in border areas and drawing people from all over Burma, were seen as ‘training the trainers’ who would go home and share these ideas with others yearning for change.” [22]

“That preparation – along with material support such as mobile phones – helped lay the groundwork for dissident Buddhist monks in September (2007) to call for a religious boycott of the junta, precipitating the biggest anti-government protests in two decades. For 10 dramatic days, monks and lay citizens…poured into the streets in numbers that peaked at around 100,000 before the regime crushed the demonstrations…” [23]

The U.S. Navy would dearly love to lay its hands on Myanmar. The country lies strategically along the Strait of Malacca, a major shipping-lane linking China to the oil of Western Asia and Africa. Control of Myanmar would allow the U.S. Navy to choke off one of China’s major oil supply routes, bringing the behemoth to its knees, if ever Washington felt the need. The Myanmar government, however, has aligned itself with China, and is not ready to allow the Pentagon to use its ports as naval bases. What’s more, the country has a largely state-owned economy, closed to U.S. corporations, banks and investors. Washington would like to bring Myanmar under its control, and Helvey and Ackerman’s destabilization techniques offer the best chance of doing so.

“Burmese opposition activists acknowledge receiving technical and financial help for their cause.” The help came “from the Washington-based National Endowment for Democracy, George Soros’s Open Society Institute and several European countries. […] International donors and activists figure Burmese opposition groups received $8m-$10m in 2006 and again in 2007 from American and European funders… […] In 2006 and 2007, the (U.S.) congressionally funded NED…spent around $3.7M a year on its Burmese program…These funds were used to support opposition media, including the Democratic Voice of Burma, a radio station and satellite television channel to bolster dissidents’ information technology skills and to help exiles’ training of Buddhist monks and other dissident techniques of peaceful political resistance.” [24]

From 1992 to 1998, Helvey taught eight, six-week courses to more than 500 members of the National Council Union of Burma, on how to apply Sharp’s techniques to overthrow the Myanmar government [25]. More recently “some 600 Burmese have gone through both introductory and advanced courses” in destabilization taught by the Albert Einstein Institution [26]. Sharp is the organization’s scholar in residence.

Antiviolence, not antiwar

Antiwar activists will find no ideological soul mates in Ackerman, Helvey and Sharp, who are conditionally against the use of violence, not out of moral principle, but because they believe violence is often an ineffective method of achieving what political violence is normally intended to achieve: the seizure of power. As New Republic writer Franklin Foer points out, “Ackerman’s affection for nonviolence has nothing to do with the tactic’s moral superiority. Movements that make a strategic decision to eschew violence, he argues, have a far better record of” success. [27]

The destabilizers represent a faction within the U.S. ruling class that pushes for a nonmilitary means of achieving a goal all ruling class factions agree on: regime change in countries that resist integration into the U.S. imperial orbit. Ackerman, for example, argues that “It is not true that the only way to ‘take out’ (axis of evil regimes) is through U.S. military action.” [28] He opposes the faction led by Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, which favors a robustly militaristic imperialism, based on the overwhelming use of force. In the lead-up to the 2003 U.S. and British invasion of Iraq, Ackerman and DuVall wrote an article in Sojourner’s Magazine arguing that “anyone who opposes U.S. military action to dethrone (Saddam Hussein) has a responsibility to suggest how he might otherwise be ushered out the backdoor of Baghdad.” (Notice Ackerman and DuVall implicitly removed the option of leaving Saddam Hussein’s fate to Iraqis, to decide for themselves, without outside interference.) The answer, they contended, was to “use a panoply of forceful sanctions – strikes, boycotts, civil disobedience, disrupting the functions of government, even nonviolent sabotage…” [29]

Ackerman’s mentor, Sharp, expresses similar views. Asked what he thought of mass demonstrations in the United States against the war on Iraq, Sharp replied,

“I don’t think you can get rid of violence by protesting against it. I think you get rid of violence only if people see that you have a different way of acting, a different way of struggle. […] Part of my analysis is that if you don’t like violence, you have to develop a substitute. Then people have a choice. If they don’t see a choice, then violence is all that they really have. […] The thing that is most shocking is that the Bush Administration acted on the basis of the belief – dogma, ‘religion’ – in the omnipotence of violence. […] The assumption is an invading country can come in, remove its official leader, arrest some of the other people, and well, then, the dictatorship is gone.” [30]

In other words, Sharp’s contribution to the peace movement is showing the U.S. ruling class it can achieve its imperialist goals by nonmilitary means. Sharp and his disciples Ackerman and Helvey aren’t progressives at all. Nor are they advocates of the moral superiority of nonviolence. They’re imperialists who believe violence isn’t always the best policy in achieving imperial goals. The antiwar activists who have been misled by this trio, and by their publicist within the progressive community, Stephen Zunes, should be clear that NVR is a military technique yoked to political goals that serve the ruling class interests of the United States. It is not a moral position. It is a form of warfare with imperial political content. Helvey calls it “nonviolent war.” [31]

“It’s a form of warfare. And you’ve got to think of it in terms of a war. […] What is it that I want to accomplish? And how do I want to accomplish it? […] One option, of course, is an armed struggle. Another option is…a nonviolent struggle. And in some cases the ballot box is the way to bring about change. […] You’ve got to make a decision which is a strategic decision. And if you decide to accept nonviolent struggle, the same principles of war (apply.)” [32]

War can be waged in many ways: economically, through sanctions, blockade and financial isolation; militarily, through the use or threat of violence; electronically, through cyber attacks to freeze an enemy’s bank accounts and cripple its government and communication systems; and through other methods of destabilization, to make an enemy society ungovernable. It’s wrong to believe that war is limited to violence and that violence is always the most injurious form of warfare. Other forms can be just as devastating. For example, sanctions on Iraq during the 1990s were estimated to have led to the deaths through malnutrition and disease of well over one million people, an outcome Madeleine Albright, who sits on the board of the Council on Foreign Relations with Ackerman, said was worth it. [33] Political scientists John and Karl Mueller pointed out that more people have died from sanctions (an element of NVR, as we’ll see in a moment) than from weapons of mass destruction. [34] For these reasons, antiwar activists should ask: What am I against: Violence — or warfare (both violent and nonviolent) to achieve imperialist goals?

Outside assistance

In his earlier writings Ackerman was open about Western support for destabilization campaigns. But in more recent articles he has become circumspect, calling destabilization movements home-grown and arguing that “external aid can help, but it’s neither necessary nor sufficient.” [35] He was not so modest about the role played by the West when he boasted in a 2002 National Catholic Reporter article about Serb students bringing Milosevic down without a shot being fired. In that article he wrote about how “massive civilian opposition can be roused with the shrewd use of strikes, boycotts, civil disobedience and other forms of nonviolent resistance – all of which can be quietly assisted, even funded from abroad, as happened in Serbia.” [36] The reference to outside assistance being delivered quietly shows he’s aware that were it widely known that so-called “people power” movements are aided from abroad, their moral authority (and alleged home-grown character) would be called into question. That explains why “An iron rule for (the Milosevic opposition) was never to talk about Western financial or logistical support,” [37] and why, with the massive involvement of Western governments in “people power” movements having since become a matter of public record, Ackerman denies that outside aid is necessary. But only the incorrigibly gullible would believe Western governments and corporate foundations spend countless millions funding destabilization movements unnecessarily.

U.S. involvement in the hardly spontaneously erupting drive to dump Milosevic was massive. As the Washington Post’s Michael Dobbs reported,

“U.S.-funded consultants played a crucial role behind the scenes in virtually every facet of the anti-Milosevic drive, running tracking polls, training thousands of opposition activists and helping to organize a vitally important parallel vote count. U.S. taxpayers paid for 5,000 cans of spray paint used by student activists to scrawl anti-Milosevic graffiti on walls across Serbia, and 2.5 million stickers with the slogan “He’s Finished,” which became the revolution’s catchphrase.” [38]

Helvey was at the center. [39] “Behind the seeming spontaneity of the street uprising that forced Milosevic” from power “was a carefully researched strategy put together by (anti-Milosevic forces on the ground) with the active assistance of Western advisers and pollsters.” [40] The U.S. government “employed every element of Sharp’s nonviolent strategy for destroying” a foreign government. To assist, “sanctions were applied in a … targeted fashion. For example, they were not applied to municipalities that voted to support opposition politicians.” [41]

Washington spent $41 million to oust Milosevic, $10 million in 1999 and $31 million in 2000. “The lead role was taken by the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development…which channeled the funds through commercial contractors” [42] and the National Endowment for Democracy, established by the Reagan administration to overtly fund destabilization campaigns the CIA once funded covertly.

Helvey, the military strategist, might disagree with Ackerman about outside assistance being unnecessary. According to Helvey, in order to carry out a successful destabilization campaign,

“You need radios and the ability to produce and distribute information. You need to be able to train. You need to provide the activists with some income to take care of their families. When people get arrested, you need to take food to them in prison or the hospital.” [43]

Real grassroots activists — that is, those who aren’t dependent on lucre from philanthropic foundations — are unlikely to have the cash to pay for the inputs a campaign of nonviolent warfare requires. That’s where Western governments and corporate foundations come in. They’re often happy to furnish the needed material support, because the power-seizing aim of NVR has happy consequences for the bottom lines of their transnational business and investor patrons. If real grassroots activists think they’re going to secure foundation or government funding for genuinely democratic and socialist projects, they’re mistaken. Western governments and corporate foundations limit funding to activists who, whether they know it or not, act to advance corporate and imperialist goals.

Even Ackerman disagrees that outside help is unnecessary. In a Christian Science Monitor article written with Jack DuVall in 2002, Ackerman complained that Iranians didn’t have the “know-how” to take power from the government in Tehran and that the know-how should be delivered by Western “pro-democracy programs.” (He cautioned that aid should “not come from the CIA or Defense Department,” to keep the movement seemingly free from taint.)[44] He echoed this view in a New York Time’s article written with Ramin Ahmadi, pointing to the lack of “a clear strategic vision and steady leadership” among the anti-Ahmadinejad opposition. [45] At the same time, he advised readers to watch the streets of Tehran, seemingly confident the know-how and clear strategic vision and steady leadership would be delivered. And he called on,

“Nongovernmental organizations around the world (to) expand their efforts to assist Iranian civil society, women’s groups, unions and journalists. And the global news media should finally begin to cover the steady stream of strikes, protests and other acts of opposition…” [46]

This was a curious appeal from someone who believes outside aid is unnecessary.

The New Republic’s Franklin Foer wrote that “Ultimately, (Ackerman) envisions events (in Iran) unfolding as they did in Serbia, with a small, well-trained, nonviolent vanguard introducing the idea of resistance to the masses.” [47] Ackerman, of course, could be sure the vanguard would be helped by a substantial injection of money from outside, as happened in Serbia — aid Ackerman claims is unnecessary.

Whether necessary or not, Washington has delivered. Last June, The Washington Post reported that,

“The Bush administration told Congress last year of a secret plan to dramatically expand covert operations inside Iran as part of a long-running effort to destabilize the country’s ruling regime…The plan allowed up to $400 million in covert spending for activities ranging from spying on Iran’s nuclear program to supporting rebel groups opposed to the country’s ruling clerics…” [48]

Ackerman, Helvey and Sharp are part of the $400 million campaign. According to Sharp,

“Our work is available in Iran and has been since 2004. People from different political positions are saying that’s the way we need to go. […] If somebody doesn’t decide to use military means, then it is very likely there will be a peaceful national struggle there.” [49]

For his part, Ackerman has several ideas for ousting Ahmadinejad. His films on destabilizing governments have been translated into Farsi, and are broadcast repeatedly over the Los Angeles-based Iranian satellite networks. He has worked with Helvey to train Iranian Americans, many of them followers of Reza Pahlavi, the son of the deposed shah. And the International Center for Nonviolent Conflict (ICNC), which Ackerman founded, and which progressive Stephen Zunes is a part of, has made contacts with the referendum movement within Iran, which campaigns for a binding vote on the clerical state. [50]

“Events in Iran are reminiscent of Serbia just before a student-sparked movement removed Slobodan Milosevic,” write Ackerman and DuVall. “His regime had alienated not only students but most of the middle class, which the dismal economy had shattered.” [51]

Ah, the economy. What Ackerman and DuVall ignore is that Western sanctions were instrumental in crippling the Yugoslav economy, and therefore in alienating students and the middle class. Disorganizing an economy through sanctions is an important part of nonviolent strategic regime change, a point John Bacher made in a Peace Magazine article on Robert Helvey. Bacher describes the targeted sanctions employed by the U.S. government against municipalities that voted to support Milosevic as being one of the elements of Sharp’s nonviolent strategy. [52] Significantly, Washington applies multiple sanctions against and financially isolates countries that are the targets of NVR destabilization efforts: Zimbabwe, Belarus, Iran, Myanmar and Cuba. Economic warfare, though nonviolent, wreaks terrible devastation, while providing immeasurable help to the destabilizers.

An Imperialist International

In a Dissent Magazine article, Mark R. Beissinger remarks on how overthrowing governments

“has now become an international business. In addition to the millions of dollars of aid involved, numerous consulting operations have arisen, many of them led by former revolutionaries themselves. Since the Serbian revolution, for instance, Otpor (youth) activists (trained by Helvey) have become, as one Serbian analyst put it, ‘a modern type of mercenary,’ traveling the world, often in the pay of the U.S. government or NGOs, in order to train local groups in how to organize a democratic revolution. A number of leaders of the Ukrainian youth movement Pora were trained in Serbia at the Center for Nonviolent Resistance, a consulting organization set up by Otpor activists to instruct youth leaders from around the world in how to organize a movement, motivate voters, and develop mass actions. […] After the Rose and Orange Revolutions, Georgian and Ukrainian youth movements began to challenge Otpor’s consulting monopoly. Pora activists even joked about creating a new Comintern for democratic revolution.” [53]

Foer borrows Leninist terminology to describe destabilization activists as a vanguard. [54] Lenin, however, was never interested in promoting imperialism; this vanguard is. Consider Nini Gogiberidze. Every few months she is deployed abroad to teach activists how to destabilize their governments. She has traveled to Eastern Europe to train Belarusians and Turkey to instruct Iranians. She is employed by the Center for Applied Nonviolent Action and Strategies, or Canvas, one of the many organizations in the destabilizers’ network. “The group is funded in part by the International Republican Institute,” the international arm of the GOP “and Washington-based Freedom House, which receives most of its funding from the U.S. government.” [55] Freedom House is a CIA-interlocked [56] organization of which Ackerman was not too long ago chairman of the board.

But building an imperialist international is not solely the project of Freedom House. The ICNC, the organization Ackerman founded, is also heavily involved. Ackerman regularly holds conferences hosting new recruits into the destabilization vanguard from around the world. One recent summer “he brought activists from more than a dozen countries to a retreat in the Montreal suburbs for a week of solidarity and study.” ‘We can’t say where they are from,” Ackerman said. “’But think of the 20 biggest assholes in the world, and you can guess.’” [57]

I’m thinking of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and Benjamin Netanyahu, but Ackerman isn’t training a vanguard to destabilize the United States, Britain and Israel. He benefits too much from their dominant positions. And yet these are the world’s principal purveyors of massive violence. You would think that proponents of nonviolence would surely set their sights on undermining violence’s biggest champions. Instead, Ackerman’s 20 biggest assholes seem to be the leaders of Iran, Cuba, Belarus, Zimbabwe, Myanmar, Gaza, and Venezuela, judging by where Ackerman, Helvey and Sharp have been active: countries that are charting their own course, outside the U.S. imperial orbit. The State Department has distributed Ackerman-produced destabilization videos to anti-Castro dissidents in Cuba. “When some of State’s desk officers don’t want to create international incidents by advising activists on how to overthrow governments, they gently suggest visiting Ackerman, who has fewer qualms about lending a helping hand.” [58] Ackerman has sent a trainer to Palestine “to spend twelve days creating a nonviolent vanguard to challenge Hamas.” [59] The list goes on.

Who is Peter Ackerman?

Ackerman is the managing director of Rockport Capital Incorporated, a private investment firm. He was chairman of the board of Freedom House and sits on the board of the Council on Foreign Relations, along with former U.S. Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin, former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, and various other war criminals, CEOs, investment bankers, and highly placed media people.

As part of his Council on Foreign Relations role, Ackerman not too long ago participated in a task force headed by former U.S. National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski and former CIA Director and current U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The goal: to craft a new approach to Iran. [60] He is also a member of the U.S. Advisory Council of the United States Institute for Peace, a phoney U.S. government peace outfit headed by the U.S. secretaries of defense and state. And when he’s not hobnobbing with the U.S. foreign policy establishment and managing his investment firm, he’s building an Imperialist International through the offices of the ICNC, of which he is the founding chair.

Ackerman made his fortune working alongside junk-bond king Michael Milken. His “Prada parka and winter tan remind you that you’re not in tattered NGO-land anymore. You’re in the presence of wealth.” [61] After graduating from Colgate, he joined the graduate program at Tufts University Fletcher School, where he met Gene Sharp. “Ackerman spent eight on-and-off years at Tuft’s refining Sharp’s thesis.” [62] After obtaining a PhD in 1976, he joined investment bank Drexel Burnham Lambert, where, according to James B. Stewart’s Den of Thieves, he had his head so far up his boss’s ass, he was known as “the Sniff”. [63] Recruited by Milken to work as one of Drexel’s traders, Ackerman soon became the junk bond king’s highest-paid subordinate. In 1988, he made $165 million, after putting together the $26 billion KKR leveraged buyout of RJR Nabisco. One year later, his net worth having soared to about $500 million, he quit finance and turned to whittling down his 1,100 page PhD dissertation into a book, Strategic Nonviolent Conflict. [64]

It should come as no surprise that a man who reeks of wealth, heads a private investment firm, and sits on the board of the premier U.S. establishment think-tank, defines a central element of democracy as protecting “property rights.” [65] Indeed, the promotion of this central tenet of capitalist ideology is the reason Freedom House, the organization he formerly headed, exists. “You can’t,” Ackerman insists, “have government constantly expropriating the fruits of the labor of its citizens.” [66] Which citizens? Since property rights, in the words of Ackerman and other owners of productive property, are the rights of ownership to what other people have produced, Ackerman equates democracy with capitalism. What he really wants to protect is the right of investors (himself included) to expropriate the fruits of other peoples’ labor. That might explain why he thinks the United States, the world’s premier champion of capitalist exploitation, “has an awful lot to teach people around the world.” [67]

Conclusion

The destabilizers are clever marketers. They choose their words carefully. They draw on the reputation of nonviolent resistance, popularized in the United States by the civil rights struggle led by Martin Luther King Jr. And they repeat the words “democracy” and “dictator” endlessly. It’s all part of a clever marketing campaign, one that has deceived more than a few leftists in the Western countries whose financial and corporate elite profit from NVR. But then, you have to be clever to take on the former CIA function of destabilizing foreign governments, make it seem progressive, and get away with it.

Let’s be clear on what NVR is, what its goals are, and who’s behind it. It’s not nonviolence as a moral or ethical position; it’s a form of warfare, aimed at taking political power in other people’s countries. And while it’s based on nonviolence, it has, in its reliance on sanctions and financial isolation as an integral part of alienating people from target governments, devastating consequences, as real as those violence produces. It’s not used by grassroots organizations in the West to force their own governments to change reactionary policies, or to take political power at home. Instead, it is invariably aimed at foreign governments that have resisted integration into the U.S. imperial orbit. The major proponents of NVR are not independent grassroots organizers, socialists or anarchists. They are, instead, members of the U.S. financial and foreign policy establishment, or are linked to them in subordinate roles through organizational and funding ties. NVR is hardly progressive; it is an imperialist project whose only redeeming feature is the possibility that it may stimulate Western leftists to think about how they too might use the destabilizers’ techniques to take power in their own country to win the authentic battle for democracy.

Ex-Bush speechwriter: I was to provide a justification for war

By Stephen Gowans

In late December 2001, chief presidential speechwriter Mike Gerson “was parcelling out the components of the forthcoming State of the Union speech. His request to me,” recalls David Frum in his new book The White House in The Right Time: The Surprise Presidency of George W. Bush, “could not have been simpler: I was to provide a justification for a war.”

And so was born the phrase “the axis of evil.”

A year later, the impending all-out assault on Iraq is spinned as “a war of liberation.” And there’s a certain truth to the claim.

It will be a war that could liberate up to 500,000 Iraqis of their lives, according to the British healthcare group, Medact.

It will be a war that could liberate 200,000 Iraqis of their homes, and 10 million of their security against hunger and disease, according to a new UN report.

And, above all, it will be a war that will liberate Iraq of its oil wealth and put America more wholly in charge.

It will indeed be a war of liberation.

And one long in the making.

Key Bush cabinet members had been pushing for a take-over of Iraq and its oil fields for some time.

In September, 2000, Dick Cheney, now vice-president, along with his current chief of staff Lewis Libby, and Donald Rumsfeld, now Secretary of Defense, along with his deputy Paul Wolfowitz, laid out a plan to create a new American century, in which the United States would be supreme in the world, the first truly global empire.

The plan adumbrated regime change in Iraq, that is, the installation of a US puppet regime in Baghdad.

The events of 9/11 were pressed into service to provide the trigger.

Within hours of hijacked jets careening into the World Trade Centre and Pentagon, Rumsfeld was ordering his staff to find something that could be used to pin the blame on Iraq.

National Security advisor Condoleeza Rice ordered her staff to consider the opportunities 9/11 provided, as if the grim events of that day were a sliver lining that could justify the vigorous extension of US hegemony.

In his book, Frum recounts how he spent two days dreaming up a pretext for “going after Iraq,” eventually hitting on the “axis of evil” idea, which he originally conceived of as the “axis of hatred” but which Gerson changed “to use the theological language that Bush” (mirroring Osama bin Laden) “had made his own since Sept. 11.”

While Frum denies the decision to launch a ground invasion had been made when he was asked to “sum up in a sentence or two our best case for going after Iraq,” the events leading up to Frum’s inventing a pretext for the mass murder suggest the decision had been made long before that.

But more revealing is Frum’s attack on the antiwar camp, for in dismissing its arguments, Frum lets slip the real reasons for the impending slaughter: American control of the Middle East.

“I knew that opponents of action against Iraq relied on two main points,” Frum writes. “First, they say there was no direct, conclusive proof that Saddam Hussein aided the Sept. 11 terrorists.”

This, Frum does not deny, but says Iraq, Iran, Hezbollah and al-Qaeda are linked in “resenting the power of the West,” his rationale for drawing all four into an axis. (North Korea was added at the last minute, he explains, because “it needed to feel a stronger hand.”)

“Saddam Hussein was certainly a very bad man, so was Stalin,” Frum acknowledges. “We had relied on deterrence, not war, to contain him; why should we not do so with Saddam, who after all controlled a much weaker state than the old Soviet Union?”

Actually, it was less Stalin, and more Washington, with its insatiable appetite for meddling in Central and South America, in Africa, in Indochina, that needed to be contained, but lay that aside. In reply, Frum says this argument is nothing more that resentment of American power.

“An American-led overthrow of Saddam Hussein…and a replacement of the radical Baathist dictatorship with a new government more closely aligned with the United States–would put America more wholly in charge of the region than any power since the Ottomans. People who resent American power…very understandably dreaded such an outcome.”

In Frum’s view, there’s a lot of resenting going on, all having to do with Washington’s throwing its weight around to “more wholly take charge,” and while it’s no doubt true that Washington’s jackbooting around the world occasions considerable resentment (as the Nazi’s did), it’s clear that Frum regards the resenting as somehow illegitimate.

Certainly, in the case of countries or organizations, resenting a US take-over is sufficient to earn your way onto Washington’s hit-list; resentment is the tie that binds set upon countries into an axis.

Frum’s views are entirely consistent with the tacit doctrine that holds sway among his journalistic colleagues in North America and the UK (Frum now writes for Canada’s viciously right-wing, Washington-aligned The National Post) that the United States is now the legitimate world ruler, whose authority must be obeyed. Under this regime, ideas of national sovereignty are illegitimate, for all countries (at least the weakest ones, unable to fight back) are to consider themselves subordinate, and are to make way for Washington to manoeuvre itself into a position where it can be “more wholly in charge.”

Emblematic of this thinking is the way North Korea is presented in the Anglo-American media: as defiant, for refusing to be bound by an international agreement Washington long ago abandoned, but has commanded Pyongyang to comply with. The very act of asserting one’s national sovereignty or right of self-defense in the face of American edicts is considered a defiant act, as if Washington’s power to compel compliance rests on legitimate authority and not simply the threat of force or economic warfare.

On the other hand, Washington can unilaterally rip up as many international agreements as it likes, undermine some (such as the International Criminal Court), refuse to be bound by others, and brazenly thumb its nose at international conventions (such as those established at Nuremberg,) and this veridical rogue behavior is regarded as perfectly legitimate, the actions of a sovereign.

Stripped of its verbiage, Frum’s account reduces to this: “I was asked to provide a justification for a war that would put Washington more wholly in charge of the region that any power since the Ottomans.”

For Frum, and the velociraptors plotting mass murder in the name of strengthening American primacy, there can be no cause higher than service to Washington’s imperial ambitions. Inventing justifications for mass murder, are, therefore, wholly justifiable.

Pity those who resent it.

Frum’s book is being excerpted in The National Post. His recounting of his inventing a pretext for going after Iraq appears in the January 8, 2003 edition.

The United States, a terrorist nation

U.S. officials and terrorism “experts” are filling the airwaves with talk of the threat that terrorism poses in the coming century. They have part of it right — terrorism will remain a threat. What they forget, ignore or deny is that the biggest perpetrator of terrorism on the world scene is the United States.

The United States, a terrorist nation?

That may seem like an odd statement to many, maybe even lunatic. It may seem treasonous, perhaps even blasphemous. But it is, unfortunately, one of those painfully obvious truths that, as a nation, we rarely allow ourselves to understand. And, just as obvious, is the fact that we will continue to suffer the terrorist attacks of others until we come to terms with this.

There is no one widely accepted definition of terrorism, though I suspect many would agree that the core of the concept involves the intentional killing of civilians or military personnel to effect political change, outside the widely accepted conventions of warfare and international law.

In reality, the term is used in the United States with a footnote: Terrorism is that kind of killing, unless it is the United States pulling the trigger.

So, the bombings of our embassies in Kenya and Tanzania are quite rightly labeled terrorist attacks and, quite rightly, condemned. But our retaliatory attacks on a base in Afghanistan and a factory in Sudan are widely viewed here as heroic acts. Yet in legal terms, both sets of attacks are clearly outside international law. No matter how much administration officials obfuscate that reality, the U.S. cruise missile attacks were illegal under the UN charter, which allows for military action only in self-defense against an armed attack before the Security Council has a chance to act. The United States didn’t even go through the motions of seeking Security Council action, as the charter requires in cases such as this. The administration’s claim that this act of “self-defense” conforms to the UN charter is laughable, though widely accepted.

This is nothing new in U.S. history, especially in the post-World War II era. When the UN and international law are useful in pursuing policy, we are happy to use them. When they become annoyances that stand in the way of policy, we ignore them.

In its attack on South Vietnam, the United States bombed civilians, drenched the country in chemicals to destroy crops, and engaged in terrorist counterinsurgency campaigns to eliminate political opposition. Three different administrations engaged in these blatant violations of international law.

When the World Court handed down a judgment in 1986 that the United States had violated international law in its support of the contra’s terrorist attack on Nicaragua, the Reagan administration simply refused to acknowledge the court’s jurisdiction.

When the Bush administration planned the illegal invasion of Panama to arrest its dictator (and former CIA employee) Manuel Noriega in 1989, they felt the need to call it “Operation Just Cause” in a vain attempt to hide the obvious. Two years later in the Gulf War, the Bush administration pushed the violations of international law to even more murderous levels with the indiscriminate bombing of civilians areas, willful destruction of civilian infrastructure, and killing of retreating soldiers in Iraq.

The Clinton administration, first with its illegal missile attack on Iraq in 1993 and now with the most recent strikes, is the most recent U.S. regime to join this hall of shame.

The list could go on and on, covering U.S. overt and covert actions in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. And that’s before we get to the actions of client regimes and private terror armies that have been backed by the United States.

In the debate this past summer over the configuration of an international criminal court, the United States repeatedly defended its opposition to a strong court by saying it did not want its military personnel hauled in front of such a court on “frivolous charges.” The victims of past U.S. terrorism can easily attest to the fact that our sins are hardly frivolous.

None of these remarks, of course, should be taken as support of or rationalizations for terrorist acts committed by other nations or individuals. Nor is it an attack on the front-line military personnel who fought in these conflicts. I want only to suggest that if our actions in the world are to have any moral force, consistent application of international law to our own actions is a minimal requirement.

Each of the Iraqi children killed by the United States was our child. Each of the prisoners tortured in Abu Ghraib was our comrade. Each of their screams was ours. When they were humiliated, we were humiliated. The U.S. soldiers fighting in Iraq – mostly volunteers in a poverty draft from small towns and poor urban neighborhoods – are victims just as much as the Iraqis of the same horrendous process, which asks them to die for a victory that will never be theirs: Arundhati Roy – Source: Arundhati Roy, “Tide? The powerful have invoked God at their side in this war, so that we will accept their power and our weakness as something that has been established by divine plan. But there is no god behind this war other than the god of money, nor any right other than the desire for death and destruction. Today there is a “NO” which shall weaken the powerful and strengthen the weak: the “NO” to war: Subcomandante Marcos – Source: No to war, 2/16/03

“Zealotry of either kind — the puritan’s need to regiment others or the victim’s passion for blaming everyone except himself — tends to produce a depressing civic stupidity. Each trait has about it the immobility of addiction. Victims become addicted to being victims: they derive identity, innocence and a kind of devious power from sheer, defaulting helplessness. On the other side, the candlesnuffers of behavioral and political correctness enact their paradox, accomplishing intolerance in the name of tolerance, regimentation in the name of betterment.”: Lance Morrow (1939- ) Essayist, professor

Iraq Slaughter Not An Aberration

Shining light on what our government and military do is so critical precisely because it forces people to see what is really being done and prevents myth and propaganda from distorting those realities. Our world appears to be making a profound shift from one paradigm to another. The old paradigm served humanity for many, many years, and in some ways serves us still. Yet an exciting new paradigm is paving the way for a more loving, harmonious way of living and interacting with all around us. The below comparison is an attempt to capture the spirit of the old and new paradigm without the intention of making one better than the other, yet also inviting us to join in welcoming inspiring new ways which can support us all in being the best we can be and making a difference in our lives and world.

Old: Man is born into sin, essentially corrupt at the core.

New: All people in their core essence are beautiful and worthy of love

.

Old: Hatred and vengeance are justified for wrongs suffered. An eye for an eye.

New: Love is the most transformative force. Forgiveness is an act of courage and compassion.

Old: Don’t show real feelings, or you will get hurt. Create a convincing persona to present to the world.

New: Welcome authenticity and vulnerability

. It’s all about being honest and real with each other.

Old: Emphasis on hierarchies. Focus on competition so that the best rise to the top of the hierarchy.

New: Emphasis on equality

. Focus on cooperation in order to support the greatest good for all.

Old: Tend to avoid personal responsibility by blaming those above or below them in the hierarchy.

New: Take personal responsibility

for actions and learn from our mistakes.

Old: People need to be led or controlled by those believed to be better or more capable.

New: Each individual is a powerful creator

capable of meeting their needs with the help of others.

Old: The mind and science is supreme. The scientific paradigm supersedes God and religion.

New: The heart and personal relationships are of paramount importance. The deepest essence of life is a divine mystery to be welcomed and explored.

Old: Don’t question the accepted scientific paradigm. Focus on three-dimensional, five-sensory world.

New: Foster fluid intelligence

. Explore the edges of consciousness

, especially other dimensions and capabilities not believed to be possible under the old paradigm.

Old: Categorizing and dissecting nature allows us to better control it and to profit from it.

New: Recognizing the interconnectedness of all life

leads to greater growth and harmony.

Old: Focus on order, discipline.

New: Welcome flexibility and even occasional chaos and disorder as means to see new possibilities.

Old: Value boundaries, borders, and divisions. These give security, safety, and comfort.

New: While respecting and honoring differences, look for shared vision and ways to work together. Take risks in order to grow. Short-term pain can bring long-term gain.

Old: You can’t trust anyone.

New: Surrender to and trust in a divine force greater than our egoic selves.

Old: Focus on defeating and conquering the enemy, us versus them. War against evil.

New: Committed to transforming and integrating life’s challenges. The external reflects the internal

.

Old: Focus on details, complexity.

New: Remember the bigger picture

. Identify simple principles

behind the complexities of life.

Old: Look outwards for guidance. Don’t trust self. Have rigid rules and beliefs.

New: Look inwards for guidance

. Develop intuition. Have flexible guidelines and beliefs

.

We all have our feet in both paradigms. How much we live in each paradigm is but a matter of degree. The old paradigm is not necessarily something to be shunned or avoided. There are times when principles of both paradigms can be useful and beneficial. Yet overall, the new paradigm invites more love, support, and deeper connection into our lives and world. In every moment we can consciously choose the paradigm to which we give our focus, time, and energy.
Remember that all of us to some degree are afraid of our shadows. At times we avoid looking at the disturbing parts of ourselves

and our world

. Yet consider that a willingness to explore and even dance with these shadows can be a potent catalyst to a new paradigm. And when we set a clear life intention

to choose and supportwhat’s best for all

, our lives can’t help but become richer and more fulfilling.

CLAIMING YOUR ANCESTORS LANDS — ALLODIAL ISSUES…..

The following article was posted in the IOLANI – The Royal Hawk.

This message is being sent again because the EXHIBIT section was not covered.

The legal documents should contain the following in the following order:

1) Cover page (covers ancestors name, RP/Royal Patent Number, LCA/ Land Commission Award number

2) Affidavit/Certification (family genealogies)

3) Heirs and Assigns page

4) EXHIBITS (Write EXHIBITS in top right hand corner):
a. RP/Royal Patent LCA/Land Commission Award brief history (shows names of deceased owners and successors)
b. Survey Notes (obtain from the Archives, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii) which shows the map, dimensions of the land(s). (ask the Archivist how to obtain your survey notes….. also ask how to look at the books available documenting awards from the Great Mahele/ Kamehameha III period, an extra step to take is to find out the testimonies in regards to the parcel(s)/lands belonging to your families.

5) JURAT, NOTARY page

6) Xerox two (2) or more sets. The notary usually wants to do only two (2) for a set. If more copies are needed for family members, you could make copies after the notary signs the documents, and even after the filing is completed.

7) obtain a notary signature from your Credit Union, bank — First Hawaiian Bank has a preferred customer account that you may be able to qualify for……worth it because the cost of a Notary will be nothing/free……….at the Credit Unions and some banks also give free notary signature……cousin paid about $50 a couple of weeks ago —$5 per notary signature.

8) take the two (2) sets of documents to the Bureau of Conveyances, Regular System section and pay $25 for a set which covers up to 20 pages. Any amount of pages over 20 will cost $1 per page.

9) The Bureau of Conveyances located on Punchbowl Street is open in the mornings till 3:30 p.m. They do not accept documents later than that time. (Mondays-Fridays (Holidays closed)).

aloha and malama pono.

p.s. Kindly disperse info/e-mail(s) to all your families/friends/other Hawaiian aboriginal /kanaka maoli.

News/Clinton- Scandals/ Riadi-Hawaiian_Link/ greg.htmGreg states that “the number-one purveyor of broadcast news in this
country– NBC, with both MSNBC and CNBC under its wing, as well as NBC news and a variety of “news magazines”– is now owned and controlled by General Electric, one of the nation’s largest defense contractors. Is it not significant that as GE’s various media subsidiaries predictably lined up to cheerlead the use of U.S. military force in Kosovo, it was at the same time posting substantial profits from the sale of the high tech of modern

warfare it so shamelessly
glorifies?..
